When were talking about nachos, I'm thinking chips, melted cheese and whatever toppings you love. I received a pile of chips with guacamole, sour cream and a sprinkling of COLD cheese. Would not recommend. read more

One star. El Faroasto was really expensive, and the food tasted terrible to me. I asked an employee for water from the soda machine, and he said there wasn't one, even though I saw a soda machine there. Instead, I was charged $2.75 for a bottle of water I hadn't asked for. Between the disappointing food, high prices, and frustrating service, I wouldn't go back. read more

Came here with high hopes but left disappointed. The tacos were greasy, and the meat didn't taste good at all. It's really disappointing. It would have been a nice place to add to my roster. Whoever owns this or is in charge of this needs to pay attention to what's happening here. I got the feeling that this restaurant was neglected by whoever is managing it. The name is really cool. "The Stranger" or "The Foreigner". Unfortunately, the food doesn't live up to it. The prices are fair, but with what you're getting, the value just isn't there. read more

So today for lunch I decided to try El Forastero. I come from SoCal so my expectations for Mexican food is really high and not too many restaurants around the Tri-Valley have been able to hit the mark. I swung through the drive through around 3:30. No one in the drive through. Ordered the 5 piece taquito. You have the option to get meat on top but I opted for only the cheese and guacamole. It cost around 12 dollars. Got to the window and it was about 5 minute wait. Service was good. No issues. I didn't go inside but they advertise a lot of their weekly specials around the windows. Overall food was good. Quick note this is a cash business and if you want to pay via card they hit you with a .45 fee. It's not a big deal to some people. In my opinion as a business owner I would never pass off any fees to do business on to my customers. Especially since you can write those off. Whatever foods is good just bring cash. read more

Nice staff, good food. I've been several times with no issues, but went in 8/13/26 3:30pm and ordered the same thing I had the week before. Enchilada Plate dinner w/drink. Last time it was $23 with tax. Today it was $25 with tax. I asked the order-taker and he said it's an extra dollar for Chicken. I just rolled with it, but when I see the receipt it's a dollar more for each enchilada. I look at the menu and it clearly says $20.99 for Chicken/Cheese/Beef. No mention of extras. When I mention it to the order-taker he just says "Sorry". It's not a huge deal about the money, but this type of inconsistently is why people do not become regular customers. Leave a bad "taste" in their mouths. I hope this is a one-off experience as I'm hoping they make it here in San Ramon, and hope to upgrade this review. read more

Great food. Everything came out piping hot. My wife got the Birria ramen it came with a lot of meat in it. She loved it. I got the California burrito good tortilla and the burrito was a decent size as well. The fries they put in the burrito where like a "house fry" not like your standard burger joint fry. Still good and the self serve chip and salsa bar is great. All the salsas are good. Service was great. Inside is a good little area. Lots of tables and clean. read more

Curious about the towns first 24/7 open eatery which happens to beat the old Wendy's on SRV blvd. Visited 10:30 pm on a Monday late night. Still fairly newly opened. I tried unsuccessfully to order inside but the good senor told me they close the dining area inside 10:30 pm sharp. But if you order inside like 10:25 pm let's Say you can stay as long as you like to enjoy your food with no rush . Just something to keep in mind . It's kinda odd seeing a Mexican restaurant with a drive thru in the tri valley. I went simple today just cheese quesadilla and 2 carne asada tacos. It was good not amazing but the deep menu has me craving to try other items and plates like breakfast which I will do in the future . You can't beat the convenience of 24 hr service so this place deserves 5 stars definitely, the service was very polite and they speak fluent English is paramount in success and happy customers. Prices are fair and the green hot sauce is a must have. read more

Let me say the first awesome thing about this place is they are opened 24 hours. My son let me know there are a bunch of locations too in the Sacramento area. Perfect for late night eats for the college crowd. I had a breakfast burrito at night. Yes! They serve breakfast all day & night. Bomb diggity! Then I had a grubbin' order of carne asada fries too. Plus a large piña (pineapple) agua fresca. The inside dining area closes at 10pm. The guy working the drive through was super nice & hooked me up with extra mini cups of salsa Verde. If you have a late night craving and want some good Mexican food, head to El Forastero in San Ramon. Let's go! read more

Very friendly staff! Open 24 hours and has a drive through?! SOLD! I love how there's clean tables inside to eat and an open chips and salsa bar! Unlimited!! (Only suggestion is labeling the salsas because 2 were very hot!) read more

We enjoyed it! I had shrimp tacos with rice and beans and my hubby had the Birria tacos. Both were really good! Nothing fancy...it's more of a taqueria to me than a restaurant. In other words, it's not fancy...plastic forks, etc but it was good. We will be back. read more

We were finally able to visit the restaurant that replaced Wendy's. This was our first visit to El Forastero. We parked in the back and walked inside because we wanted to check out the restaurant and not just the drive-through although the drive-through was starting to look as popular as an In-N-Out drive-thru. When you walk inside, you can see that it is also equally as busy, but it's really cute. They have a built-in fireplace in the wall, which was near the door and that was great because when you walked in the cold air didn't bother you so much because of the nice little fireplace when looking at the menu, there are so many options, but the food is decently priced. We ordered a wet burrito, deluxe nachos, and a kids meal burrito my deluxe nachos with Kearny Asada look like a mountain of food and after I had my fill of it, I only finished a quarter of a portion so this is more of a meal to share with a large group, especially since it is so filling. The wet burrito had a beautiful presentation. It was a huge burrito covered with sauce, and cheese and onions. Altogether, the food had really good presentation however, the flavor blacked some. But we will give them grace because it is a relatively new restaurant and we came during a very busy hour. One thing that my boyfriend noticed is that only half of the people preparing the food were gloves, and the rest were using their bare hands, which is kind of an issue for me who is allergic to everything. Next time, I would prefer to order online and just pick it up because those orders seemed faster, even if they had to wait the same amount of time free nachos and a well stocked salsa bar are also really great highlights of this restaurant. read more

I ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla yesterday and it was very good! I also ordered a Chicken Quesadilla for my boyfriend. The reason I'm rating my quesadilla 3 stars is because it comes with raw onions on it, but grilled onions is listed on their menu board as an option, but it's not available. The lady behind the counter said grilled onions aren't available now, but it will be sometime in the future (she gave no specific date). Since I wanted grilled onions on my quesadillas, I got two containers of raw onions for 2 quesadillas and I grilled the onions and added them to both quesadillas myself. My quesadilla was excellent, but I didn't like having to grill the onions and add them to both quesadillas. If a business has gilled onions listed on their menu board, I think they should have them and not say they'll be available at a future date. My boyfriend said his quesadilla was very good and he's very critical when it comes to the food he eats. This business also charges $1 to use a card, so I gave them all of my available cash to avoid being charged a processing fee. Most businesses may charge a fee to use a credit card, but I usually don't get a fee for using a debit card. read more

Had the Super Burrito with grilled chicken & it was really good. I don't give too many 5 Star ratings, as I always feel like there's room for improvement. Overall, this place is about 4.5 Stars & my only criticism is the chip & salsa bar was depleted during my visit. Better than Chipotle & better prices. Chipotle always loads their burritos with lettuce, even when I request light veggies. Also, the prices are better at El Forastero & the burrito is actually warm (unlike Chipotle where the burrito is always cold for some reason). read more

I've ordered several times online since the opening. The food is good, but online ordering experience is terrible. They text that food is ready when it's not. The drive thru window gets stuck because they don't ask anyone to pull aside and wait. They gave away an order to someone else. Only go here if you have 25 min to wait for food and lots of patience. read more

First try, decided to hit the drive thru, kinda like pulling up to a taco truck!! Ok, so you want to break in a new taqueria? You go street tacos.... And go for the Trifecta, no? Carne asada, Al Pastor, and Lengua (carnitas and pollo will have to wait). Just the 3, came with red and green salsa... both pretty picante! Enough meat in all 3, lots of cebolla and cilantro, the lengua was moist and flavorful, al pastor nice and spicy, carne asada was the weak boy of the three- not enough char. I had tried to checkout the menu, but the website was really flaky, and hard to view the menu on the San Ramon site. You can't go back and forth between pages easily. Asked for a paper menu, but she said they don't print them anymore ‍. Price was reasonable, might be best in area now... I REALLY like Los Pericos, but Dublin is a drive and I'm interested in checking these guys out late at night- they go 24 hours! read more

This place is AWESOME. I've only been 2 times and each time was delightful. It's hard to find places open late, especially open 24/7! I ordered two tamales one cheese and one chicken (I like the cheese one more). The Guacamole was good and the flautas/ taquito things my mom ordered were good as well as the horchata!! I'm impressed with this place. OH and my most favorite thing they had was the --FLAN MILKSHAKE!! Que rico! So good! If you haven't had it yet--TRY IT, you will love it! Thank you for the awesome experience I will be back again today haha! read more

I've given this place three chances, and all three times they got my order wrong. The first time, I ordered a taco salad and received lettuce and tomato in a bowl--no taco shell, nothing resembling a taco salad they show on their menu. The second time, I ordered a chile relleno and somehow got chile Colorado instead (still trying to understand how that mix-up even happens). Tonight was the best F*** up: I ordered quesabirria and a breakfast burrito and was given a carne asada bean burrito and super nachos. The food itself is decent tasting--even when it's not what you ordered--but the prices are high for what it is, and the service is severely lacking. If you decide to order from here, triple-check your order before you leave... or be prepared for a surprise. read more

It's so nice to finally have good Mexican food in San Ramon and not have to travel to other Bay Area cities. The tacos and burritos are a good size and tasted authentic and fresh! I had the taco salad and it was a lot better at El Forastero than the other Mexican joint nearby. Horchata tasted a little too powdery, but the staff recommended the strawberry horchata, so I'll probably try that next time. Given that it's their opening week, I'm hoping this place gets even better over time. Being open 24/7 with a drive thru option is already a huge plus! Although the parking lot is decent, it's worth going inside for their chip and salad bar. Highly recommend and I'll definitely be coming back again. read more

Pros- Open 24 hours I have only ordered food through the drive thru, Pretty quick service. The only option in the area other than MCD's that is open 24 hours. Food is ok... I got a breakfast burrito which was decent, but for the price I was expecting a little more flavor. The green salsa was flavorless. The employees seemed nice. I will probably come back because it is so convenient, but not when I want the real deal Mexican food that I am used to. read more

First impression the presentation of the building is very nice and clean. Bathrooms are clean. Service was OK. Ordered our food. Everything in the pictures look delicious took over 30 minutes for some deluxe nachos and a steak quesadilla. When we got the food meat on the nachos was cold to the touch, barely any sour cream, barely any cheese and to be honest it just looked like a mess. The steak quesadilla hardly any cheese falling apart once I've picked it up I felt like everything was rushed took forever. I can only imagine how long the food takes for the people in the drive-through. My honest review I would give this a 3 out of 10. Sucks to give such a low rating I was expecting more, but this is my last time coming here. read more

I want to like it and was really good the first time. But have gone drive through twice, paid $20 for me I bowls with chile verde and they put in the wrong meat both times. Drive thru is only convenient if they can get it right and other Mexican food are cheaper. So may be giving up hope. But was good the first time. read more

I don't know what's going on in their kitchen....maybe short staffed? I'm not sure, but I waited almost 20 minutes from the time I placed my order until I got my food, AND there was only 1 car in front of me. When I asked about the delay, the guy at the window couldn't have cared less! I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito - it was OK, but was almost $16.00. My experience was not great, so it's doubtful that I'll be a return customer. I had high hopes, but was very disappointed. read more

For starters, I really wanted to like this place. If the restaurant looks like a former fast-food joint, that's because it is. From what I could tell, this appears to be a former Wendy's location--at least as of December. Being housed in a former fast-food building doesn't automatically make the food good or bad. The food itself does that, so enough about the ambiance. I walked in, looked over the menu, and ordered a regular chicken burrito to go. The person taking my order was neither rude nor particularly engaging. According to the menu, the regular burrito includes your choice of meat, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Back in my car, it was time to see what this place was all about. As soon as I pulled the burrito out of the bag, I was already disappointed. One end was noticeably cooler than the other. Translation: the pico de gallo and guacamole were concentrated on one end, while the meat was on the warmer side. This immediately suggested that the ingredients were placed side by side rather than evenly distributed throughout the burrito--never a good sign. I didn't taste guacamole at all. The burrito was dominated by pico and chicken. The chicken itself lacked flavor and tasted like it had been boiled rather than grilled. I don't consider myself a burrito aficionado, but this was a poor excuse for a $14 "regular" burrito. Love this place. The Keto Birria was amazing. Perfectly stewed birria wrapped in a lot of cheese. 10/10. The fish taco was fried to perfection and not greasy. Also tried a Birria burrito which was massive and full of a lot of Birria. Love the menu the service was great and the place is spotless. Love its open 24/7 which is rare in the Tri valley. If you haven't tried this place yet put it at the top of your list. We are putting it in the rotation as it blows away other taquerias in our area read more

Have done take out 5-6 times. When they get the order right, food is quite good. While drive thru and online ordering is way more convenient, they simply don't have appropriate quality controls in place. Just park and walk in and explain exactly what you want. Then...check your order. Food will be good and you won't experience the frustration of getting home with missing items, missed simple instructions, etc. read more

A great addition to our community! Not quite up to the SoCal level of great drive-thru Mexican food or late night locations like King Taco - but pretty darn close (ie. good enough). It's reminiscent of the Alberto's drive-thru chain in LA/OC for my fellow SoCal transplants - but pricier. Burritos come in two sizes (we ordered the 'regular' size - glad we did as that was more than enough to get us full LOL) - carne asada was a bit salty, but the cilantro/onion/pico de gallo ratios were on-point. Definitely putting El Forastero on our regular rotation: close, tasty, fast! read more

Pros: 1. Food is better than a lot of Taquerias in the area. NOTE - I mostly ordered vegetarian food, so I can't comment on the meat dishes 2. Complimentary Chips & Salsa Bar 3. Prices are reasonable, especially given the portion sizes 4. They're open 24-hours - which is great since the only other 24 hour options in the area are fast food burger places. Cons: 1. Parking is a little challenging at times 2. They didn't get my order correct a couple of times read more

I hate to be honest, but it is what it is. Food is average to below and 3 stars is a little generous. Super burrito was fine, lots of beans. Shredded beef tasted good. Crispy chicken tacos were not good. Carne asada street taco, blah. No taste. Amazingly, the guac was terrible. Probably the worst I've ever had and I'm not sure how you mess up guac. Not freshly made. Tastes like pre-made out of a bag. Chipotle guac is 100x better. It's too bad, we were really hoping for better. read more

quesabirria!!! Don't get one, get three! Drive thru as fast and the people were friendly.

I've been here twice now. Once with the family the first week they opened for dinner and today just to try out their breakfast burrito. The restaurant the first visit seemed like they were still trying to get operations smoothed out, but the food was good. No changes to the interior so it felt like Wendy's still. Lol! The tacos were ok, good portions. The carne asada though was more like ground beef so it won't be a repeat order. The tongue tacos were delicious. Very tender and flavorful. My daughter's burrito (Al Pastor) was not wrapped well and just opened up after two bites. They don't wrap in foil (wax paper). Today's California breakfast burrito (steak, egg, potatoes, pico), was excellent! Wrapped tightly did not fall apart and was huge. When I crave a breakfast burrito I'm going. Big cubes of steak. Customer service is very friendly. Good job hiring people who make dining there enjoyable. read more
