    Beef Burrito
    Doreen L.

The staff was great. We had a group of 8 people. They took our orders promptly. The food came out fairly quickly. No issues. I ordered the beef burrito. The order was huge. I took most of it home. What I noticed about this burrito is that it only came with the meat, beans, and cheese inside. Then it was covered with sauce and cheese on top. I asked for the beans to be replaced with rice. Normally, my burrito is not covered with sauce and the meat, salsa, lettuce, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream are spread out inside my burrito. My beef came in chunks instead of being shredded. I didn't care for the chunky beef. The overall flavor of the burrito was good, however. The sour cream and salsa were also outside of the burrito...on the plate. I would not order this dish again just because the burrito is put together differently than the way I prefer my burrito. Parking is available but may be further away from the restaurant during peak times.

Fantastic food and atmosphere, Anna our waitress was fantastic, very attentive to what we wanted to drink what we were gonna eat, and the food was delicious!!

These are the nachos with beef. The beef was so dry, we could not eat it!

We have not been to Luna Loca's for quite awhile and we will NOT be back! The Nachos with beef were horrible! The beef was so dry we could not eat it! We ordered two soft tacos, but were served two crispy tacos and a green sauce enchilada. We told our waiter that the meal was incorrect and he said it would be replaced immediately! The correct meal NEVER ARRIVED! We ordered a pitcher of beer and although the glasses were chilled, the beer was warm! We do not believe this restaurant will be opened much longer, unfortunately, as Luna Loca's has been a staple in Danville for years and used to be very good.

Chicken chimichanga with rice and pinto beans

My buddy arranged a dinner at Luna Loca for a party of twelve men to celebrate his 25th year of sobriety. We were easily accommodated in the outdoor patio. I was looking forward to eating at a restaurant I have not yet tried. Our server worked hard and replenished our chips and salsa and iced teas. Our order took some time to get to the table but unfortunately was not worth the wait. Everyone has an entree with rice and beans. My entree was a chicken chimichanga. The rice was dry and bland. The pinto beans were good. The chimichanga had no flavor whatsoever. Everyone seemed to feel the same about their meal. Overall my experience was three of five stars.

    The area was completely filthy

If I could give this place less stars I would. Five of us had bought into there Super Bowl party. $100 per person. That gave us unlimited margaritas and food. Upon arrival we were told ( by I assume the manager) they had no table for us to sit at. When we explained that we were part of there Super Bowl party, we were told they had no clue as to what we were talking about. We proceeded to sit at a table near the bar but only to be told we couldn't sit there because the owner reserved them for the Super Bowl party. Okay but we were just told that by the same guy that he had no clue about a party. We asked if we could sit around the other side of the restaurant to only he told that those tables were reserved as well. So now we are all standing there. When we asked where we "could" sit he said there was no tables. So he decided to push tables together in a part of the restaurant that I wouldn't let my dogs sit at. By this time we were trying to make a really bad situation better for us. We wanted to order food to be told the kitchen was closing in 15mins. I need to explain we were not the only people being told this. We knew the food that was being offered was not going to be done for at least a few hours. We ordered quickly. My son was at the bar getting a margarita to have the one of the wait staff walk up and hand him plates of food. They couldn't even deliver it to our table. Or wouldn't. No one ever came to clear the table. This is honestly the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. This restaurant had multiple football pools going on. Unfortunately at the end of the game people were told to come back in two to three days to collect there money because the owner left. If there is one thing that I can say was pleasant was the two bartenders Melissa and Ruby. They were very nice.

Food is not good. Rice is dry and bland. Beans tasted like they came from a can. Only thing tasty was the cheese on top of the wet burrito. Shredded chicken was also dry and bland. Do not recommend this dish until they fix the rice, chicken, and beans.

Which is a shame since the food was excellent. The classic margarita was delicious and made with Arette tequila, which is one of my favorites. It was fresh tasting and well balanced. I would have had a lot more if I wasn't on a work budget. We split the Molotitos appetizer which was fried corn masa with a hodgepodge of fillings and toppings. They were good and bigger than I thought they would be. Definitely good for sharing, or even for a meal. They were a little dry, but they were topped with lots to goodies. I ordered the Shrimp Asados for my meal which was a fresh tasting grilled shrimp dish with veggies and quinoa... only they forgot the quinoa. After over an hour of waiting for it, I wasn't going to ask for some... not that I could as the waitress didn't really come back to the table that often. My colleague got the Mole Chicken and wow, that mole sauce was delicious. It also came with freshly made tortillas which made all the difference in that dish. There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.

Now it gets weird. They ALWAYS used to include a mini cup of each of the salsas in my delivery orders. Last four delivery orders, they stopped giving the green jalapeño salsa. So because I love it so much, I specifically order an 8oz tub of it. Guess what they delivered? Not the jalapeño salsa but rather their other green one which is a garlic salsa. Could've reported it and received a DoorDash refund, but i left it alone. The last two deliveries, they also did not include the dorito pinwheels like they always do, so I drive there to get 'em. Even gave them $5 for something free, bc ya know - just helping a business out and the owner guy is nice and was apologetic. Now today, I was in the area, so i stopped in for a taco, agua fresca, a large bag of those pinwheel doritos and an 8oz tub of the jalapeño salsa especially because the salsa bar was empty and the other orange one i like was not made well this time. So watery yuck. The girl taking orders didn't seem like she was well versed in punching orders into their system. Took awhile for her to enter those 4 items I ordered and needed to grab one of the other staff to help her, but whatever - still tipped her 18%. Then, why in the world would they finish up my order then tell me they're completely out of the jalapeño salsa and then ask if I want an 8oz tub of another salsa? So at this point, it seems they're trying to do the same thing as when i ordered this specific salsa for delivery and hope i'll be ok with something else, right? It also looked almost performative when the girl opened the cabinet under the salsa bar looking for more jalapeño salsa before she told me they were completely out. I respond with "that's the only salsa I wanted. I can wait while they make more. can they make more?" she says no. twice. I let her know that I wanted to be refunded for the salsa and bag of dorito pinwheels. All of a sudden they magically found more jalapeño salsa. All of this to say I'm now absolutely convinced the staff is trying to hoard this specific salsa for whatever reason. Like i said, it's delicious, but not a reason to freakin hoard it for yourself when that's a reason your customers come back. I'll also add that the quality of the food these last two times around was no bueno. The amount of lengua and garnish in my taco was just sad. Literally, the taco I ordered today is the same taco I have pictured in my original review, but then opened it up when i got home and looked nothing like it did before. I've recommended this place to my coworkers and now I take it back and it seems the other Yelpers agree that this is no longer the place we loved. Definitely taking a break from this place. To the owner - I think when you're not there, your team is unfortunately letting you down and giving your customers a different food experience then what you provide and are known for.
