The staff was great. We had a group of 8 people. They took our orders promptly. The food came out fairly quickly. No issues. I ordered the beef burrito. The order was huge. I took most of it home. What I noticed about this burrito is that it only came with the meat, beans, and cheese inside. Then it was covered with sauce and cheese on top. I asked for the beans to be replaced with rice. Normally, my burrito is not covered with sauce and the meat, salsa, lettuce, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream are spread out inside my burrito. My beef came in chunks instead of being shredded. I didn't care for the chunky beef. The overall flavor of the burrito was good, however. The sour cream and salsa were also outside of the burrito...on the plate. I would not order this dish again just because the burrito is put together differently than the way I prefer my burrito. We have not been to Luna Loca's for quite awhile and we will NOT be back! The Nachos with beef were horrible! The beef was so dry we could not eat it! We ordered two soft tacos, but were served two crispy tacos and a green sauce enchilada. We told our waiter that the meal was incorrect and he said it would be replaced immediately! The correct meal NEVER ARRIVED! We ordered a pitcher of beer and although the glasses were chilled, the beer was warm! My buddy arranged a dinner at Luna Loca for a party of twelve men to celebrate his 25th year of sobriety. We were easily accommodated in the outdoor patio. I was looking forward to eating at a restaurant I have not yet tried. Our server worked hard and replenished our chips and salsa and iced teas. Our order took some time to get to the table but unfortunately was not worth the wait. Everyone has an entree with rice and beans. My entree was a chicken chimichanga. The rice was dry and bland. The pinto beans were good. The chimichanga had no flavor whatsoever. Everyone seemed to feel the same about their meal. Overall my experience was three of five stars. read more

If I could give this place less stars I would. Five of us had bought into there Super Bowl party. $100 per person. That gave us unlimited margaritas and food. Upon arrival we were told ( by I assume the manager) they had no table for us to sit at. When we explained that we were part of there Super Bowl party, we were told they had no clue as to what we were talking about. We proceeded to sit at a table near the bar but only to be told we couldn't sit there because the owner reserved them for the Super Bowl party. Okay but we were just told that by the same guy that he had no clue about a party. We asked if we could sit around the other side of the restaurant to only he told that those tables were reserved as well. So now we are all standing there. When we asked where we "could" sit he said there was no tables. So he decided to push tables together in a part of the restaurant that I wouldn't let my dogs sit at. By this time we were trying to make a really bad situation better for us. We wanted to order food to be told the kitchen was closing in 15mins. I need to explain we were not the only people being told this. We knew the food that was being offered was not going to be done for at least a few hours. We ordered quickly. My son was at the bar getting a margarita to have the one of the wait staff walk up and hand him plates of food. They couldn't even deliver it to our table. Or wouldn't. No one ever came to clear the table. This is honestly the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. This restaurant had multiple football pools going on. Unfortunately at the end of the game people were told to come back in two to three days to collect there money because the owner left. Tonight was my first time here as I'm a long time loyal customer of Los Panchos. Decided to sit at the bar for dinner rather than take a small booth in the back. Was warmly greeted by the courteous & pleasant female bartender who quickly took my order. Wish I could say the same for the kitchen staff. While the bartender made every effort to check on my meal, having to wait almost 45 minutes for a simple combination plate was just unacceptable. As for the food, the crispy taco was extremely small & tasted rather bland; the chicken tamale faired a bit better. The rice & beans were just that, fair, if that. I had such a great experience here celebrating a family birthday! The ambiance was lively and authentic--it truly had a warm, family-owned feel. The best part about Luna Loca? Leaving. Hands down, this was the worst dining experience I've ever had. We were in town for a large event, which included a $25 lunch voucher, per person, for this restaurant. My wife and I--along with several friends--decided to give it a try, assuming it would be at least halfway decent. That was a mistake. We waited over an hour just to get in. Understandable, perhaps, given the crowd. But then we waited another hour just to get our food. Our server, who was clearly overwhelmed, did her best and wasn't the issue--she even corrected our missing sides promptly. Still, the food was awful: cold beans, cold salsa, cold rice, and a flavorless burrito. Ironically, our server warned us the plates were hot. They weren't. Not even close. We barely touched our meals and decided not to finish. When it came time to pay with our vouchers, things got worse. The manager--or owner--refused to accept our friends' digital ticket, insisting on a printed version for reimbursement purposes. He was rude and dismissive, refusing even to accept an emailed copy. Our friends had to run back to the event organizers just to get a paper version. Then came the bill: $118 for two burritos (at $17.95 each) and two beers. Seriously? I told my friend to just hand over the two $25 vouchers and walk away, but being the good guy he is, he paid the extra $18. To top it all off, I passed by the kitchen on the way to the restroom and saw staff yelling at this same manager--clearly tensions were high even among employees. Bottom line: it was obvious the manager didn't bother to bring in extra help for the event. He looked lost and completely in over his head. I so want to give this place the full five stars but I really can't. First time I came here in person, I ordered the Chicken Sixty-Three with a side of guacamole. The second time I came here, which was earlier tonight, I ordered their chili Colorado with a side of guacamole. Both times their food was pretty good. Their service was really friendly too. Ambiance wise, it's mildly noisy. There's a restaurant side and a bar side. But with people talking, it's not the quietist place to be, but neither is it the loudest. So the -1 star? Both times I ordered guacamole and both times they were forgotten. The first time, I had to flag down my waiter to remind them they forgot the guacamole. Earlier tonight, I gave up on it entirely and told my waiter to take it out from the check. I'm not entirely sure how this has happened twice? The check literally said "add guacamole" and it was forgotten. I swear if I didn't mention it to the waiter, I'd be getting a check with the guacamole price included while not getting it. So definitely check that your order is correct and if not, don't hesitate to tell them. I wish the kitchen was more attentive to make sure not to miss things... read more

After years/decades of coming here, we are done. The older gentleman who is the host/manager is a very unkind human. When I came to pick up my order I asked them to check the order before I left and they didn't. Got home and didn't have everything we ordered. Called and was passed to two different managers 4 times. Not a joke. I don't need to go into the phone call. We are also over the lack of "more expensive" food ingredients being included in the meals. The amount of meat that comes with the meals is minimal. We want to support local restaurants, but also feel that we should not be taken advantage of or treated like complete crap. read more

This place has truly excellent dishes and great service. There's even off the menu dishes that are available. Very nice ambience with a game room that the kids can enjoy. We just started going to Luna for cocktails after golf. My wife and I each order a Kettle soda. However, my wife asked for a small splash of cranberry. When I reviewed the bill, they charged me an additional $1.35 per splash. Nothing I hate more than being nickel & dimed for no reason. I have never ever been charged like that for a splash (less than an ounce). I brought it to the attention of the owner and he blamed Trump for the increase. What a POS. DISCLAIMER - We live about 500 yards from this place and have always just used it for beer and chips. Which are really good. Then some friends recommended TRIVIA NIGHT!! on Wednesday's at 7:00PM. We had a blast!! The food has actually improved over the years, I ordered the fish tacos and they were light flaky and perfectly nestled in a soft tortilla with cabbage and lime. The rice and beans were also really good! But trivia night was outstanding. No prizes other than bragging rights for a week, but the MC was a funny and with it kinda guy! The rice was not properly cooked - it tasted crunchy. The beans were okay. The tortilla was near raw. My order: Seafood (crab and prawns, flour tortilla with cream sauce, rice and beans, sliced avocados.): Good flavours on the crab but the prawns were under-seasoned and the fish smelled fishy. My wife and I have frequented Luna Loca for the past 14 months for our Mexican food cravings. We ate at Luna Loca at least 2 times per month and sometimes once a week. We found the food to be good, the portions to be adequate, the price to be fair, and the atmosphere to be pleasant. We would often grab a Margarita or 2 and enjoy some appetizers such as guacamole, nachos, and casadillas. The casadilla were 2 large tortillas with cheese and whatever else added and it was a very nice appetizer. The casadillas were sliced into 6 pieces. The nachos were a full plate of chips, beans, cheese and whatever else added, and it was filling if one didn't want a full Mexican dinner. One had the option of a 1/2 or full order of nachos. The guacamole side dish was decent in size too, and was available in 1/2 and full order. All was well until about a month ago when we noticed the portions suddenly became smaller. The casadilla was now a single tortilla folded in half with obviously half the cheese, meat, or chicken. The casadillas were now sliced into 3 pieces. The "full nachos" plate is now equivalent to the old 1/2 size nachos order. The full side of guacamole is now about the old 1/2 order size. Last night my wife and I went to Luna Loca to enjoy the "Happy Hour". Happy order as stated on the Luna Loca website is from 3pm to 6pm Monday through Friday with "NO" restrictions shown such as holidays, ect. We arrived at Luna Loca little after 5pm, ordered the Happy Hour appetizers with what we thought were "house margaritas". We told the waiter we were specifically there for the Happy Hour and asked him to make sure he stopped by our bar table before 6pm for another Happy Hour margarita. We then ordered 2 blended strawberry margaritas (without a tequila upgrade) and some appetizers. Prior to 6pm we ordered 2 more blended strawberry margaritas from our server. When the check came, I noticed we were charged $12 for the Happy Hour $7 margaritas and were charged the Happy Hour price for our appetizers. Our server was elusive so I brought this price discrepancy to the attention of the older Latin male host who I assume is the manager or owner of Luna Loca. Keep in mind this person is not friendly or customer oriented whatsoever and has a cavalier attitude like he is doing his patrons a favor for being there. He looks at the check and then tells me Happy Hour does not apply to "Holidays". I asked him what holiday was it stating it was not a National or State holiday as banks, government offices, and the Post Office was open. I also asked him where does it show anywhere on the Happy Hour menu that holidays were excluded. Yes it was Valentine's Day, but I don't recall that is anything other than a Romantic Day. I also did not see a single sign, heart, or anything that related to Valentine's Day in Luna Loca. When the older Latin male heard me state the above, he replied that the strawberry margaritas were not "house margaritas"!! I watched the bartender poor the tequila into the blender and it was "house tequila'!! The only additive was a bit of strawberry mixer. At no time did our server tell us that strawberry margaritas were NOT part of the Happy Hour even though we specifically told him we we there for the Happy Hour. The older Latin male then said, "I don't know what kind of day you are having", and handed me the same check without adjustment! I can honestly say that my wife and I have spent at least $1500 at Luna Loca in the past 14 months and most likely closer to $2000. The older Latin man has seen us there on numerous occasions and knows who we are, as he is ALWAYS staring at my beautiful wife. Nevertheless, I find it incredible that for a simple matter of honoring what is written in the Luna Loca Happy Hour policy along with the diminished appetizer portions will keep us from EVER returning to Luna Loca to eat or drink. Personally, if the older Latin man is not the owner, I think it would behoove the owner to fire this person and save his business. Look at the recent negative reviews about the marginal food, lack of service, and the rudeness of the older male host to solidify my suggestion. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Luna Loca-they saved my father in law's 90th birthday celebration. They took our party at the last minute due to the family who was hosting being sick. The manager and our waitress were so attentive and kind. They made sure my f-i-l and m-i-l were cared for and happy. We brought a cake that they graciously took care of and served. All of us were very happy with our order-food and drinks, and the green salsa was a favorite. We had a great time, great service and food. We are loyal Luna Loca customers now! read more

Review is for Doordash takeout during Bay Area SIP: Danville has two newly opened, upscale Mexican restaurants in Cielito and Cocina Hermanas. Unfortunately, both were closed for lunch takeout during the 2020 COVID-19 version of Cinco de Mayo. To satisfy our Mexican food craving, we used Doordash for Luna Loca, which is an older, established Danville Mexican restaurant. The food is solid, albeit slightly on the pricier side. 3 stars overall. * Our favorite dish was the carnitas plate. Generous portions of seasoned and moist shredded pork that can accommodate lunch and dinner. It wasn't overly salty nor oily either, so 4 stars. * Chili Verdes is one of my favorite Mexican pork preparations. Luna Loca's version is decent, though I would prefer a more tender pork texture. Ideally the pork should be shreddable by fork and nearly melt-in-mouth with that excellent green chili sauce. 3 stars. * Chicken Quesadilla was on the thicker side, and served with generous portions of chicken that was seasoned. I prefer thinner quesadillas with a bit more searing, which not only adds a crispy texture but also a nice caramelized flavor too, especially on the cheese. Normally decent service, has gone downhill recently. Service stunk, and the food was worse. Staff could not give any less of a care regardless of what their customers need. Manager is rude and couldn't be bothered to support customer needs. Margarita was pure sugar and nothing else, gave my partner a stomachache. The chips were questionably, soggy, like they had already been dipped beforehand, there were also several small chips, indicating that they use leftover chips from previous customers. Happy hour menu online explicitly states how they have plenty of variety in terms of food, yet only offered beans, chips and dip on the menu. Why false advertise? I recommend Los Panchos over this place. Won't be back, very disappointed. read more
