Tastes like typical Tex Mex. The Davis location is better and the salsa isn't as clumpy. Not a fan of the clumpy refried beans personally, felt like it came out of a can. Rice is okay but not anything to write home about, also gives can vibes a little. Okay option considering that San Ramon isn't really known for Tex Mex or Mexican food really in general. Not bad. I love the interior decor of the place since there's like shelf caverns near the ceiling with the coyote artwork statues and the vibrant color of all of the walls, counter tops, tiles and much more. I LOVE this since so much of the world and restaurants are disgustingly been reduced to garbage minimalism. I say we continue with maximalism and allow businesses to have an ounce of personality, which Dos Coyotes has. Portions are also quite generous. My boyfriend and I ended up sharing a market burrito, which was originally designed for athletes and high performance lifestyles. Yes, my high performance life style of bed rotting and sitting in front of a computer for 9 hours a day. Let's go. I digress. It's a huge wet burrito that comes in a flour tortilla with your choice of beans, we got the refried pinto beans, rice, charbroiled chicken, and salsa. You HAVE to get your burrito COYOTE-IZED. This means it comes with green chile sauce, melted cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, and cotija cheese. It's a stacked burrito that can get SUPER messy with all of the sauce and cheeses on top. But it's so deliciously tasty and filling. OKAY. Now I get to the salsa bar. You HAVE to get one of everything to try with your side of chips if you order it and with your entree of course. The friendly gentleman pointed us towards the nachos on the menu since that's what we were craving. The food came out fast and hot! The serving was good for 2 people. Yikes! Not good! The dining room had a bunch of dirty tables and the service was very slow, that I can get, it's a Saturday night. However all of the food was tasteless and not prepared very well. We ordered a burrito and the "Special", and neither of us could finish the food because the flavor profile was just bad. I honestly wished we would have gone to Taco Bell. I read the reviews of the salsa bar and it was the definition of "meh". The salsa was watery, the chips were store bought and they served the salsa in a paper cup that is impossible to dip in. We walked into Dos Coyotes last night for dinner. The Interior decor looked inviting. I ordered the salmon salad with the dressing on the side. I took one look at the salmon, and it looked like it was burnt on the top side without the skin and that they tried to scrape off the burn. We brought it to the front, they said that they just peeled off the burnt skin. So I flipped the fish over to show the side that had the skin removed, which was the bottom side of the fish, and it was not burnt like the top was with a char. Me and my husband were in town we're trying to find a place to come and eat so we decided on Dos Coyotes based on their reviews. It is a cafeteria type of environment where you walk in and you have to order before you sit down you get a number and then they bring you your food. We were really surprised on how fast the food came out I ordered the red chili enchiladas and my husband had the Southwestern nachos the food was okay. My husband said his nachos didnt have much cheese and his chicken was cold. There is a salsa bar and drink machine. It was a litlke confusing because there wasnt any chips? My wife and I went to Dos Coyotes Cafe in San Ramon for dinner on the recommendation of a friend. Never again. I really wanted to like it, but I couldn't. Ambience: bare and loud. When we walked in there were only 2 out of about 30 tables occupied. But the noise level was unbelievable. The place is all hard surfaces; concrete floor, stucco walls, glass and metal. It seemed to be acoustically designed to maximize the ambient noise level, and it did. There was some weird Mexican/Fusion music thumping in from a back room; banging, clattering, and yelling from the open kitchen; and boisterous vocalizations from the group drinking at one of the tables. We had to yell to hear each other across the table. Not a relaxing atmosphere. Service: What service? Order and pay at the counter. Carry your own drinks to a table. Get your own silverware, napkins, and water yourself. Condiments?...What condiments? After the food was dropped off at the table, no server ever came back to check on us. And I hate to be required to choose a tip level before we even see the food. Food: a mixed bag My wife's green chili stew tasted good. My grilled steak fajita was not. Tough steak. Little flavor. No heat. Rice was burned onto the skillet. Beans in a separate little bowl were luke-warm. Drinks: OK My wife's margarita and my Corona beer were both OK...but just OK. Value: No $80 for 2 drinks, a bowl of stew and a fajita. Aftermath: Spectacular That evening, we both had fairly severe GI tract disturbances. We will not be going back to Dos Coyotes. read more

You order at the counter upfront. They have some beers and select margarita options. After placing your order, you're given a number to take to your table and then you can get your utensils, napkins, drink, and/or salsas from the salsa bar. I had the California fish plate with mahi-mahi and shrimp with a side of black beans and rice, with chips placed on top. Was it edible? Yes. Was it memorable? No. We all had the same general opinion of our plates. They did stay rather busy though so that speaks for something. We did go on Cinco de Mayo so maybe that's why too? The tomatillo is unexpectedly really sweet. House picante was a favorite but I felt it could use more salt to bring out the flavors. I used to work close by and this was an office favorite for lunches every couple of months. It had something for everyone-salads, lighter options and full blown plates for those who were hungrier. I rarely find myself nearby, now, but was in the area on a cold Friday night near the holidays and decided to stop in. It's rather spacious inside but the area where you queue up to order is bit short and can be claustrophobic. But they are quick to move the line along. They were closing at 8 pm, and at 7:30 the place was still packed and people kept pouring in. Might warrant a closing time at 9? The staff was still cheerful and calm as they quickly placed and served orders. There's a nice salsa bar with lots of options and a soda fountains for serve yourself drinks. I got the veggie fajita salad which has a nice variety of mushrooms, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and other grilled veggies on a warm flour tortilla with some greens and cojita cheese. I did ask for no beans and it seems they put extra on it, so it's a minus 1 star for that. It was late and they were cleaning up to close so I ate around it and didn't send it back. I've been hearing about this "amazing" place for 4 years from my foodie neighbors who have frequented this restaurants for YEARS. Finally, we went there to celebrate an important, anticipated evening with a large party including 5 kids aged 4-7. We arrived at 6:45pm. The man who claimed to be the owner was promptly, unapologetically rude within 90 seconds of entering his establishment and within 14 minutes of being there, insisted that we leave his restaurant and that he would call San Ramon police within mins. There was really no reason to escalate to this level in front of children. I wish I had this on video. None of us have ever been spoken to or treated with such blatant disrespect. He cited that our kids were too loud. I truly hope he was having a bad day or this was a culmination of career burnout because it actually felt like blatant racism. Although the food is good, the service is less than. Since we were dining in I requested a small dish for salsa, and the answer was a flat out "NO"! I was told that the white paper cups could be pulled out to expand to hold more salsa, resulting in using fewer cups. All it did was create a round paper disc that the salsa leaked off to create a mess on the table. I still ended up using 5 paper cups.
