My first experience here was 20 years ago about 4am. I was standing in line waiting to order a football sized burrito. I stood in line with a Mariachi band, gang bangers, businessmen, little people, bikers; a real genuine no-mans land because everybody knows that the burittos are thee best. Earthy atmosphere. Dining area has questionable hygiene but behind the counter I see the help keeping things clean, and they wash their hands. A biggy with me. Creepy late at night. Safety risk for sure at night. Enter at your own risk late night and maintain vigilance. You can encounter issues. But, hell, the buritto is great, and the staff is great. I have been a frequent customer at El Faro for a long time, and it doesn't change at all. I always get a horchata and two beef tacos with cilantro, lime, and onion. The tacos are always juicy and flavorful, and the horchata backs it up excellently with it's sweet, milky flavor. I am always greeted by the same nice, friendly staff. I have been coming here for nearly 10 years and have always given it 5 stars. The steak is great and burritos used to be huge. While the prices have gone up now since Covid-19, the food quality and portions have gone down drastically. Go here if you want a burrito that's mostly just rolled up tortilla, beans, cheese, and the most pathetic, rip off amount of steak that you will hardly even taste over the slop amount of beans and cheese they try to add to make the burrito actually look like it has some meat to it. Been coming here since high school when we called it $2 buck as their giant burittos were only 2 bucks at the time now theu are $5. Its open 24/7 365 days and the carne asada steak is out of this world unless you are stupidly hungry splitting a buritto is not a bad way to go. For years, El Famous was my "Go to" place for late night burritos, but somewhere along the way, their quality went down, and across the street I went to El Farol. To my surprise, their food was better then ElFamous, even on a good day! Very large dining rooms, parking is usually not an issue, and the prices are VERY reasonable. For high quality food, and reasonable prices, you can't go wrong with El Farol. Be warned, the neighborhood can be a bit rough at times, especially in the warmer months with people out late at night, so be careful if you park further down the side street block. I've seen a posted off duty police officer at this location at times, making sure things stay civil, but don't let this detour you. read more

The L in El Farol was a misprint, after all these years, they finally lost the L, and is called El Faro. I have been going here since they opened, I have watched the owners kids take over, and nothing has changed. It is dungeon like. It is dark, dingey, and yes, don't use the toilet unless you can stand. I have always got the extra meat skirt steak burrito, extra cheas, and sour cream. This will fill me up for 2 days. $6 buys that and a drink. When you go there at 2am, just get your food, eat it there, and don't look for trouble as it will find you. There is always a fight between 2am and 5am on weekends. Known to us locals as Burritoville, I love it, and can't get enough of it. On weekends when you go there after a long night of drinking the line can be out the door but you will get your food in 5 mins anyways! I don't eat meat but they hook me up with the most bomb bean burritos in the world. The food here is great, our orders are usually big and not once have they messed up our order. I usually order the tacos and the quesadillas. I'm not a big fan of flour tortillas but the quesadillas with flour or corn are amazing! My husband always gets the burrito and he loves it. It's open 24/7 so that's a big plus! I've been here over 50 times now and the only complaint I'll ever have is just the seating arrangements. There is not a lot of room for big parties to sit with each other but other than that, no other complaints. I love it! read more

The head manager in the afternoons to late evenings is exceptionally attentive to your needs as a customer. He'll take the time necessary to get your order right, and will meet whatever requests you may have to his best ability. His name is Javier, and if you're unfamiliar with the staff, he's the young brown-skinned fellow with the clean shave haircut; his stature is notably taller than the other folks, and he tends to wear his clothes baggy. If you're willing to give him the chance, he won't disappoint you. As with many other businesses, El Faro is an establishment that has room for considerable growth, but this place is locally known for its quality low-priced authentically mexican food, which is perfect for those humble few who seek exactly that. My meal of choice for this visit was the Menudo, a fine flavorful homemade tripe soup to its essential perfection, with an appetizing Mexican imported soft drink known as "Sidral Mundet".
