LOBSTER SANDWICH
Toni L.

We sat out back on a lovely afternoon for brunch, even though it took a few minutes to get our water and services to start but it was prompt after the first initial delayed. I ordered the lobster sandwich but feel.as though the lobster meat was frozen and not fresh lobster. It was my least favorite lobster sandwich I ever eaten. You definitely can not go wrong with The Chinese chicken salad. Overall it was a pleasant afternoon dining alfresco. 3.5 star

TRUFFLE FRIES

I went here for my honeymoon and me and my husband got 3 different dishes and we shared them back and forth between us. Everything was 10/10. I'm definitely coming back for the spectacular food and service. Ambience was nice and inviting and the staff were so friendly and easy going.

Sonoma has so many wonderful dining options, however, El Dorado Kitchen is far from being one of them. The view from outside El Dorado Kitchen's French paned windows looking into their dining room is cozy and cute. The lit candles on each table add a romantic touch. And that is exactly where the good times end. El Dorado Kitchen's ventilation system is non-existent when the windows are closed. This is important to make note of because once inside the dark and noisy dining room, your senses may be overwhelmed by the very intense aroma of multiple types of seafood cooking just steps from your table. Everything you wear, your hair, and skin will smell until you bathe. Unless you are accustomed to reading by the light of a candle, you may find reading the menu's extra-tiny, lightly printed text a challenge, but don't fret. You can hold your menu next to one of the small battery-operated accent lamps on El Dorado Kitchen's windowsills! Please do not wait for bread, breadsticks, or similar items to arrive at the table; they will not be coming. I ordered the 'Seasonal Soup': butternut squash, and the Hamachi & Teriyaki Unagi Bowl. The teeny tiny portions of food arrived almost immediately. The soup had one flavor note: butternut squash, no seasoning of any kind included. Dinner was a disappointment, and I left hungry. I visited the El Dorado Kitchen's Ladies' restroom prior to leaving, and a final surprise awaited me: no toilet seat cover holder, and no toilet seat covers. I was appalled that an establishment who claims to be "the ultimate beacon" on their website could not provide items meant to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.

Great service, despite being extremely busy the evening we were there. We were centrally located in the dining area so it was pretty loud. The wine selection was good, and the food was great. We would go back!

BURRATA

Outstanding brunch and service! Enjoyed our time here and it was fresh and flavorful! Had the burrata, EDK Carbonara which was killer and the Tuna Poke Bowl which was so enjoyable! Will be back

Low bar top at the end. Felt like the kid's table lol

Cute hotel restaurant and bar. Open to anyone. Many families were dining early on a Tuesday evening. They have indoor and outdoor style tables. We took the last two seats at the bar. Service was prompt and friendly. We had two drinks prior to our dinner reservation at another restaurant. They have a great selection of tequila. The food menu looked good! We will have to come back to eat here. It got super busy during the hour we visited. Parking is out on the street but this place is centrally located so like we did, you can just walk there and walk to your next place. Check em out for drinks! Will report back again when I eat there.

Paella and steak frites. The restaurant kindly splint the steak frites plate for us. These are the top 2 dishes served here.

Excellent high-end restaurant in a hotel on Sonoma Square. Paella and skirt steak are awesome, as is the Caesar's salad. Beautiful outdoor patio. Great customer service. I highly recommend for special occasions or if money is not an issue, as it's pricier than other local restaurants, but worth it. The hotel is also great to stay at.

SEAFOOD PAELLA

Located in the hotel this was a really really good dinner! We showed up early evening and were seated right away. Our server immediately greeted us and got us water and told us about the drinks and dinner options. The absolute star was the paella - the seasoning of the rice was excellent. Some of the fish could have used a little more seasoning but it was very good. I'd stay at the hotel just to get quicker access to the restaurant!

BRAISED SHORT RIB

What a pleasant surprise! Food, service, beautiful ambiance. We requested a table outside and it was lovely. We loved everything! Focaccia - light and tasty Caesar salad - so good!! Housemade papardelle with bolognese & maitake mushrooms - perfect bite on the pasta, umami bolognese and maitakes Short ribs - hubby practically licked his plate Will be back!

El Dorado Kitchen staff outdid themselves. Service was awesome and food was so good. We got the prix price menu which had the lobster risotto (so good) and short ribs. Everything was so yummy.

We were in Sonoma and we tried this place very classy good service delicious food. The outdoor patio was nice to hang out.

HAMACHI & TERIYAKI UNAGI BOWL
AJ J.

Stopped by this place for a quick dinner and wasn't disappointed! Prices are about average for what you'd expect in Downtown Sonoma but I didn't mind. My bowl was delicious and definitely fresh. I only wish they had some bread or something brought to the table beforehand. The ambiance was causal and calm. And my service was good. I would definitely recommend the next time you stop in Sonoma.

Lobster risotto 3.5/5

Came here for my birthday dinner and immediately loved the decor, ambience, and overall vibe. We were greeted warmly by both the host and our waiters, and they even had a cute happy birthday sign waiting for us, which was a really thoughtful touch. That said, I was a little disappointed there wasn't a complimentary dessert, which would have been such a nice way to end a birthday dinner. I ordered the Shanghai Sour cocktail with five spice seasoning and it was good for what it was, interesting and different, though not something I'd rush to order again. The real highlight of the night was the appetizer. We ordered the hamachi crudo and it was beautifully prepared, well seasoned, and visually stunning. I just wish they gave more than four slices because it was honestly delicious. For entrées, we ordered the highly recommended seafood paella, which definitely lived up to the hype, and the lobster risotto. The risotto was good overall, but a bit watery for my liking. Overall, it was a lovely birthday dinner with great atmosphere, friendly service, and good food.

Their paella is quite tasty and is one of my favorite dishes I often order. Good amount of shrimp, mussels and clams.

Don't let the casual,…read moreorder-at-the-counter vibe fool you: VSC boasts an extremely well-curated selection of wines and beers and a knowledgeable staff to help you pair your meal, whether it's their fresh AF poke bowl, their excellent smash burgers, or their generously portioned fish and chips. (Note for vegans: their impossible smash burgers is one of the best I've ever had -- and I'm not even vegan!) We also need a moment to discuss their French fries which are actually hand-cut and somehow both perfectly crispy and a little greasy in all the right ways. In terms of ambience, it's 90% outdoors so if you've got a problem with the temp, take it up with your higher power of choice. (Did I mention there's an excellent beer and wine selection?)

The fries were ok and luckily not smashed, and the ambience is good, but it's important to note theres no swimming here. My daughter saw the swimming club sign so we stopped, but the first thing you see after you pull in is a big no swimming sign you could see her little face crumple. Not sure what the deal is with the swimming club, but it seems like that part closed and it's just a restaurant at this point. We couldn't see the pool and no one in swim wear or skivvies running around, so we figured this must be the old clubhouse.

My goto dinner spot in Sonoma…read more I actually have been here multiple times and I don't know what has taken me so long to post a review but the Girl and the Fig is definitely the truth. When you enter you'll notice a more homey decor to the place. Warm colors all around and even warmer service once you sit down. Every single experience Ive had here is been nothing less of 110%. Theres always this good balance professionalism with lightheartedness that pair so well for the atmosphere. Because at its core this restaurant is high scale. It definitely has that higher scale vibe but if never comes off as pretentious though. This particular I took my wifey here for our 10th year anniversary together. And we were greeting by a nice little card from the "Fig Family." We ended up trying the Seared Halloumi and I was shocked at how much I liked it. Very light flavors but still enough variety with the crispy spigarello and pine nuts to keep things fun. The lemon never feels too overwhelming. For mains my wife got the Mushroom RisottoI think? Or maybe it was Butternut Squash Risotto? I got the Fig Burger and both were amazing. The only reason I didn't get her Risotto was simply because I already had it at lunch time, but that still didn't stop me from taking a bite. Each rice like grain had a perfect chew and flavor to each bite. Even being the picky person that I am with veggies, I appreciated the veggies addition to the dish. I still think though that the sure winner was my Fig Burger. This burger is everything we wish our local breweries burger was. A harmonic balance between salty and sweet. Im down to get a little crazy with burgers but if it's too sweet, it kinda loses the appeal for me. It takes away too much from the burgers roots. So yea. Go here. Make reservations too. I know for myself I made mine about a month in advance so it's hard to say how hard it is to get a table here. But hopefully it's not too bad. Parking by the way is just street parking. Despite that Ive always been able to get a park on W Spain St right before I pull up to the restaurant. OH! And thanks again Girl and the Fig family! You made the end to our anniversary quite magical!

We loved everything from the food, chic ambiance to the charm of the place that makes it seem like a special place. The restaurant hearing upon my little one celebrated her fourth birthday last week, whipped up a hand written birthday card welcoming her to the restaurant (pic for reference). The staff was so friendly and patient with my chatty elder one too. Overall, it was a great experience and opened up our Sonoma trip well. Gave us a great impression on the hotel too. Oh, the food. I almost forgot. We had a little bit of everything. But two things I wanted to point out - contrary to what is out there, they DO have a kids' menu and do give you one as a part of their coloring book. Second, the steak was great. Being an aspiring vegetarian, I don't say this too often, but the steak was darn good. Our server made him feel like an adult and waited on him as well.
