I used to love this place, and have gone there so often that they generally ask me if I need to look at the menu, or know what I'm getting. The last few times however, the service has been horrible. Once they were busy and none of the wait staff acknowledged or even looked at us standing by the door even though they walked by half a dozen times. Finally after being intentionally ignored for 5 minutes and with no indication of how long the wait would be, we decided to leave. Thinking this might be an aberration, we went back. This time there was an open table, so we seated ourselves after going unacknowledged yet again. It then took forever for anyone to visit the table to take our order. I had to yell "excuse me" loud enough that the other tables looked, before someone would bring out a glass of water. I know we weren't the only people experiencing this because, while we were there, another table stormed out after getting served their drinks because they were frustrated with being ignored for so long. In response, and this is what prompted me to come here and update an earlier 5 star review, the lady in charge smiled and said, "It doesn't matter, we're always full". read more

Super bad service I came with my fiancé and mom on a Sunday afternoon such a small place, the waitress don't greet you when you come in nothing, my fiancé had to ask how long for a table and they had a table open and said it was occupied when nobody was eating there. This is one of the BEST Mexican food places to go to! I am originally from San Diego, California, and I'm Mexican-American, so when it comes to AUTHENTIC Mexican food, I know what I'm talking about since I DO know how to cook Mexican food as well. I've had several of their dishes and they were all delicious! Their prices are more than fair, unlike other Mexican food places I've been to. My personal favorite from El Dorado is their 'tostadas de ceviche' even though I know to make ceviche myself, I LOVE their tostadas, they are just like home, which is really difficult to find here. This however, is not a place for snobs, it is a humble establishment and if you do go there you are going for the great food, not for the appearance. This is also a very family friendly establishment, I should know, I have 5 kids. Anyone who says this place is not good, has no idea about what REAL Mexican food should taste like and doesn't understand the culture, because when you go into El Dorado, you get Mexican culture, it is MEXICAN. I was swayed by all the good reviews. First of all, I had salsa and chips and ordered guacamole. Based on this beginning, I thought I was in for a treat. All were good, with the guacamole being outstanding. Then came the main dish, shrimp and beef fajitas. I could see the shrimp were small, but much worse, they were way, way overcooked. I picked up one with my fork and felt the rubbery texture right away. Chewing it was like chewing rubber. I managed to swallow it and just moved all the shrimp off to the side. The beef, the usual skirt steak was relatively flavorless, and also overcooked and chewy. However, the peppers and onions were fine and plenty, even though both meats were on the skimpier side. When I was asked how everything was, I told her that the shrimp was way overcooked and not even pink any longer. Her response was, "that's how we always do it." I fux with them! I forgot what I had, but it was this HUGE Bowl of Sausage, Chicken, Cheese, Steak, Cheese Fajitas, Avocados, Mexican HOT stuff and some funny looking onions! I was like DAMN!!! Sunday lunch. Go before 11am or after 1:30. We got there in the middle and it was crazy busy. Hubby said the absolute Best mixed seafood cocktail he has ever had. I had chicken ranchero rice, beans, great sauce,great green salsa ,Hot tortillas, and if you are chile relinjo crazy like me, get one! Delicious. Next time I am getting the flankin rib dinner. I always order tacos al pastor when it's my first time trying somewhere new, because they're usually the most flavorful... And it's really hard to mess those up. I also got carne asada and cabeza, and they were average. My favorite part is probably the prices though. Right across the street from Wal-Mart and in front of the H-Mart shopping center is this great little taqueria. They do to go orders or dine in, I recommend dining in for the free chips and two kinds of salsa! The prices are great and the portions are big. Carne (steak) tacos are only $1.50 each and they are large. The menu has a lot of choices including French fries for some odd reason. They serve beer with the option of several Mexican imports or domestics. They also have orchata to drink. This is small but friendly hole-in the wall authentic Mexican restaurant. My only complaint is no Margaritas or Tequila. However, the staff and regular patrons are friendly. The soup seems to be very popular and is big enough to share for at least 2 or 3 people. The beef short ribs dish is two thumbs up and is also enough for two. This place does not disappoint. We have never had a bad meal here... You can't go wrong with their tacos, burritos (not the special unless you want melted cheese), and quesadillas. We love the simplicity of authentic tacos- topped with cilantro, onions, and a squeeze of lime juice. (Probably need to explore the menu more.) Stay away from the huevos rancheros unless you can handle a LOT of spice. I had super high expectations of Taco El Dorado based on other Yelp reviews, but sadly, I thought it was just okay. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, because it seems like the item most people praise is the tacos, but I had a chile relleno and my friend had the carne asada platter. I found the flavor of my chile relleno to be just okay, and I really missed the breading that often comes on this dish and helps tone down the fiery chile. My friend's steak was flavorful, but very tough. The service was excellent, though, and considering all the other reviews, I may try this place again and taste a few tacos. read more

I've been here more than I can count with my boyfriend, and it's by far our favorite Mexican place. The free chips and salsa taste great, and the tacos here are sooooo good and cheap. I usually get 2 steak tacos and 1 chicken which is filling. Sometimes, we get the burrito special (which I definitely recommend), and when we're in a mood to really get full, we get the molcajete. Came here a few days ago for dinner and I was a little let down given the many Yelp reviews praising this place. My husband and I ordered 7 tacos between the two of us, and we thought they were just OK. We tried the chicken, beef, pork and tongue. Maybe with the exception of the tongue, the filling was on the dry side. The tacos were topped with chopped onions and cilantro, and served with red and green sauces (both spicy). There were OK but not something we'd go out of our way to eat again. The rice and beans are also OK. Service was polite and friendly though, and at only about $1.50 per taco, the meal was very reasonably priced. read more
