This place is right by my kids' daycare and every time I pass it I think "huh, a Mexican place located INSIDE a gas station?" Well, after several times passing by, I finally tried it out and yep, it is truly just a little corner spot located within the US Fuel gas station. You can order there, call in an order, or you can find them on several of the online delivery apps.
I was just trying them out, so for now I'll say this is a solid 4 stars but I imagine if I tried more I'd confirm this as 5 stars. I got two tacos, carnitas and al pastor, which I feel can tell you a lot about a taquería and these did not disappoint. Tasty with double corn tortillas with a slight crispiness and lots of meat for the filling. Would get either of these again.
I was thrilled to see several Mexican dishes one doesn't often see around here like tlayadas, chilaquiles, baleadas, and one of my favorites - huaraches. Heck, they even have huitlacoche, which is delicious corn fungus (worth a try if you like mushrooms). So I take that as a good sign that this place is the real deal. I got a huarache (basically a long flat corn tortilla with refried beans, meat, and sour cream on top - sort of like a Mexican flatbread, but that doesn't do it justice). Tasty, tasty, would get again. Definitely big enough to feed one person, but could also be easily split - just make sure you ask for some cutlery! I happily washed the whole meal down with some Jamaica (hibiscus flower) punch.
When I picked up my order, the lady behind the counter had been chatting with the other customer in English, but she struggled with one of my questions, so I switched to Spanish and things went more smoothly. Just be prepared that there may be a slight language barrier, but the folks are friendly and aim to please.
Prices are fair and the food is on point. Check them out sometime. read more
