Carna asada tacos, good but not great, kinda bland.

Our first stop in Michell before checking in to our hotel. Walking in here it is a decent place, waiter came quickly and got the drink order. Food was ok, not great, not bad, but overall overpriced, we got dinner but not craving to go back.

My family and I tried el columpio while passing through Mitchell. It seems to be family owned and everyone was super welcoming, especially our server Alfredo. The food was delicious, the carne asada especially is a must. We tried the dos amigos plate, the steak fajitas quesadilla, queso and an enchilada.

This little place we found while traveling through Mitchell and staying for a couple of days. Our first night in town, we didn't wanna cook so I looked these guys up and so we ran over there and were not disappointed. The staff here worked their butts off and serve good food really quickly. Their attention to detail and taking care of us was fantastic. They cook behind a plexiglass or glass screen, so it's quite entertaining to watch all the food being prepared. Everything was so clean, including the restrooms.

Thirteen hours into our 16 hour drive from Indiana to Rapid City, my boyfriend and I stopped in Mitchell, SD for food and gas. We ended up choosing El Columpio since my boyfriend was craving a torta. The restaurant was very cute and clean, the staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food was great!! After eating one of the best quesadillas I've ever had and an amazing torta, we went to get back on the road when we realized our car battery was dead. Alfredo and Alfredo Jr. were kind enough to not only jump start our car, but when that didn't work, they drove us to AutoZone to buy a new battery. We appreciated their help so much!! :)

A nice restuarant. Seems to be the town favorite and for good reason. The staff are friendly. The food is solid with great portions. The tacos were filled and had good flavor. However, I think the salsas needed more spice and heat because there wasn't any at all. All in all, a great option in town.

Great small Mexican restaurant in Mitchell! Very affordable with really good portions. The staff were kind and attentive. The food was also delicious, we were able to try a couple items and it was all good!

I would have never guessed that one of the BEST Mexican food restaurants I've ever eaten at would be located in Mitchell, South Dakota, but tonight we stumbled upon El Columpio while driving across I-90 and I'm sure glad we did. We were warmly greeted by our server Julia upon entering the restaurant. Our group of four order a variety of items. My steak fajita tacos were amazing, but the chili relleños and vegatarian tamales were the stars of the show tonight. Julia told us that her father and brother work very hard on the tamales. The verde sauce on the tamale was amazing. The relleños had just the right amount of heat in the poblano and sauce to flavor them to perfection. What a great surprise tonight in Mitchell! We'll be back on our next South Dakota adventure!

Carnitas "Jalisco Style"

My dad and I came here because we saw this place was rated so well here on Yelp. Let me just say the food was AWESOME. I got the Green Chili Burrito and it was delicious and perfectly spiced. My dad got the Carnitas "Jalisco Style" and they made it exactly how he wanted and it was also delicious. We came at an off time so we had immaculate service. Julia and Alfredo were very personable and friendly and happy to help with my dads restrictions. We came when it was quite cold so we couldn't sit on the upstairs patio, but the downstairs area has swings chairs which look like they would be fun to eat on.

Love this place! Back for our annual visit on our trip west. It's a gem that is a bit difficult to find, tucked next to the Holiday Inn Express.

The kitchen.

So we tried it. WOW, happily very surprised. Food was excellent. We both had Tacos Barbacoda, love them. Tender and flavorful. Don't plan on cleaning your plate. Noisy as it is full and like 18 tables and open kitchen (yes not hidden away). But we could still talk. Very busy with outbound orders also so you get time to talk. Great service. People seemed to drink a lot of margarita's. Go figure. On thing to note. Every plat that goes by you makes you want to change your mind.

Nice place. We were passing by the town and was conveniently located Playful place for kids. It was too loud as it is popular for young couples with children. Service was good, although they were so busy that they were a bit discombobulated. We orders pozole, fish tacos, and two tamales all to share. Lots of food for 2 people. For my taste the food was okay.... Catering to their audience. It was lacking spices, authentic Mexican flavor, and choice of picante. Middle of the road.

Restaurant lobby is seat yourself. We came just before 5pm to and beat the busy dinner rush.

Instead of a long rambling review how about we stick to the high points you want. 1. Chips and salsa served at the table. The chips are warm and the salsa has a great flavor without being too spicy. A great balance for pleasing the masses. 2. Bottle drinks: While they do have soda on fountain (coke products) they have a great selections of Jarritos and Fanta. 3. There is a full menu with lots combinations to satisfy your taste buds. I recommend sharing a larger plate. 4. Service is polite and did a good job keeping our drinks refilled. (Although they are short staffed, so you may need to raise your glass and let them know) Lastly, while the pricing isn't "peso pricing" it's a great bang for the buck! #WorthIt Thank you Alejandro (Polo) for taking good care of us! TIP: You can order the Queso to enjoy with your chips and salsa. D-Lish! PS The Queso burrito is Freaking Fantastic!!!! I got mine with carne asada this time however you can have your pick of 7 meats!

Great Mexican Food. You get plenty to eat. Julia was our waitress and she was wonderful. Large Burrito. I'd eat here again.

I was informed the regular margarita was good, but I can tell you the macho margarita strong and drank smooth.

Great service, average food. Nothing bad - just unremarkable ground beef enchilada and carnitas tostada. But DH loved his fajita tacos.

And they always serve you good food and generous portions for a good price. I like that they don't have many screens here. When my husband and I eat out, we don't want to watch TV together, we want to visit. There are places to sit if you want to watch the TVs, but I really like that they don't have many in the restaurant. They remodeled recently, thankfully they didn't change the things that I loved about the restaurant before, just the entries/foyer area and the exterior. They have a nice kids menu that is a coloring page, they have helium balloons that they give to the kids at the front desk when you're done eating, and they serve everyone a little dessert sopapilla when you get your bill. Very family friendly. Would definitely recommend eating here!

There's something to be said for a place that consistently delivers. That's Corona Village for me…read more My favorite has always been the Corona Burrito with picadillo and I'm in love with the new Corona Tropics mocktail. I've tried nearly everything on the menu over the years and I keep coming back for more. Anytime friends and family visit, this is where we go - you should try it too! It's always a lively place with great service and a festive vibe (especially on someone's birthday). Follow @goaroundwithcrystal for more foodie adventures
