Everything was really good, tasted fresh, and came out quickly. The food was good. I was not sure what to expect in SoDak when it came to sushi. I am vegan and I can assure you that there are not a lot of places to eat a vegan diet in South Dakota!!! So we ordered a variety of dishes. The squid and sweet potato tempuras were delicious. They gave us some Rangoon complimentary because the snow crab bites and the miso soup were both really awful. What a surprise to find a nice Japanese Restraunt in Mitchell, So. Dakota. We were just over nighting in a campground across the I-90 and crossed over and found this place. By the way it's right here by Walmart and Cabela's. I normally order rolls but really wanted some Tempura, had the crab dinner special and son had a Bento Box. Visiting from out of state and wanted some sushi, since this was one of my only options I decided to give it a go. The sushi was pretty good. However, the hibachi was absolutely disgusting. Both mine and my partners rice was crunchy, my scallops, that were $6 more than the place back home were sandy and crunchy, and the vegetables were still raw. We also ordered boba tea and the boba was way too mushy and undersweet. I paid $10 more than at my local sushi restaurant and could only stomach eating about a third of my food. Do not be scared of this landlocked Sushi restaurant! This is a sister location to the two other Toyko's in Sioux Falls. They share the cost of flying in quality fresh fish so its not like they are serving up bluegills from the James River! The venue is clean and modern with traditional Japanese décor. They can seat roughly 50 people and when we were finished with our meal they was a waiting list. The sashimi and sushi were good. The rolls were tasty but a bit messy as a few fell apart. The presentation is always wonderful and the food is always amazing. The staff is super friendly and is always helpful. When we go here for supper my boyfriend usually gets more sushi or sashimi because he loves it and I usually get a teriyaki chicken bento box or chicken fried rice. The miso soup and salad is a great appetizer and we can usually handle with my boyfriend eating the soup and myself eating the salad.
