Every time we drive by the restaurant looks PACKED so decided to stop & have dinner one day. We'd give them 5 stars if it was just for the service & food because it was soooo good. Very well seasoned & we only waited maybe 15-20 minutes as they were pretty busy. Our waiter was kind & knowledgeable of their menu. Also they burned like 2-3 of our sons mini corn dogs & they brought out extra which was nice. But because the drinks (a michelada & mango margarita) were TRASH the overall rating is a 3. They were for sure watered down. Also my husband couldn't tell what was wrong w/ his michelada but it was very poorly made. For him not to finish any kind of alcoholic beverage says a lotOverall we'd go back only for the food & service but definitely not the drinks. read more

Heard about this place from my parents my family and seen a lot of photos on Instagram so we decided to check it out. There was a little wait but the staff were constantly checking on us and very apologetic for the wait. The Food was worth the wait. Everything was really good. we have a picky eater who is on the spectrum he ordered mini corn dogs and tried the taco when it came out, he started ordering more tacos on his own he had about four grande tacos. The fish was cooked and seasoned great. Definitely would go back. read more

The customer service and food was great. We had the shrimp empanadas, and the sauces are super good that come with them. We also ordered the pescado zarandeado and it was good i would have just liked it to be a bit more well done. Overall the whole experience was great for our first time eating there. I will be going back to try more food on their menu when we go back to modesto. read more

We've been passing by this place for a year and finally made it in and WOW it did not disappoint! In fact, we will be in back tomorrow for their Pescado Zarandeado. Everyone's food was SO GOOD. Highly recommend the Molcajete Nayarit! Great portions and excellent pricing for seafood. The owner Adolfo and his family are so nice and inviting. Will be recommending all we know to come make a visit. Stop by, you will not regret it. read more

Pésimo servicio y aparte la comida no está muy buena, espere por una mesa 3 horas según que era un lugar bueno y para mi gusto no .

I would like to say they offer two important things: Customer service (friendly, welcoming, equal) And Food was delicious. I ordered a sarandeado fish it was fresh, cooked perfectly, with flavor I must say it was plenty for two (rice and refried beans) . And we ordered the shrimp empanadas. The owner is out there cleaning, taking orders taking care of his business but also his customers making sure you have everything you need. I'll explain shortly "COVID-19" prepared. Social distancing, face mask, antibacterial, outdoor dining. We were told they have Karaoke Friday and Saturday nights. Family Friendly. Recommend and will visit again. read more

El Coco Loco - Seafood Near Me - Modesto, California

We had placed an order for a wet sauce burrito supreme with asada and shrimp and when my husband and I brought it home to for dinner, there was mainly rice, beans and cheese. It hardly had any asada or shrimp which we were charged extra for. Paid $20 for a burrito to only get a rice and beans burrito! Never again. El coco loco use to be good and the quality was great before but now I wouldn't think twice ordering again. read more

First of all the waitress custom made a drink for me when I told her what flavors I like because I was not sure what I wanted she made me feel so at home. Best service I've ever had!!! On top of that the seafood was to die for! In fact my in-laws offered to pay to take me anywhere in Modesto that I wanted to eat and I chose this place. My favorite Mexican restaurant in Modesto so far!! read more

Honestly this place is the Best in town! I have tried so many of their items and loved everything! They've grown a lot in business now, so we mostly take out and so we haven't been since they added the bar. But I ordered a drink to go and it was perfect! Along with the crab broil we bought! I didn't even know they had it until I ordered online and let me tell you! It's 10-10! The best!! all those other crab shacks have nothing in coco loco! Just saying. everything I've had is awesome and everyone I've sent to this place have said the same. read more

So this place is a 10 in customer service, very attentive and always asking if you need anything else. However the food is really expensive for the amount given. I understand seafood prices can be high and I don't mind paying, but it would be nice if the food actually came with "seafood " the shrimp empanads had maybe half a shrimp or less each. And they certainly charge as if they we made from just shrimp. El coco loco had lots of tomatoes, onion, cilantro.....but hardly any seafood. We basically ended up eating veggies tostadas. The octopus in the coco loco almost non existent as it was cut so small and there was very little of it. Overall very stingy with the seafood, even though they tax you in it. read more

Pretty much the best Mariscos in the 209. Has great customer service, so good that I forgot my ID and they literally brought it to my house lol. I'm not saying they'll take your ID to your house, especially if you live far away, but dam if that's not good customer service I don't know what is. read more

Overpriced and nickel and dimed for everything. Was looking forward to trying this place. We sat down at our table and had to scan a QR code to see the menu. Not a fan of that. I ordered a small bean dip for my kids so they can eat it with the chips they provide. Ended up costing $5! Most places it's under $2. It's a small bowl they put the salsa in filled with refried beans and cheese. My wifes fish tacos were pretty good. But other than that not impressed. Molcajete cost $38 and was decent at best. They charged us $2 to use a credit card. read more

#1 Mariscos place in Modesto. Been going here for a while and staff has been friendly and welcoming, since day one. After going there multiple times they treat you more and more like one of their own. Yes Location is a bit random, but don't let that fool you! P.S. BEST HAPPY HOUR in the 209! read more

This little whole in the wall restaurant is absolutely BOMB! We had a party of 8 and the staff accommodated us with no problem. The food portions were on point. The waitresses were friendly and would check on us frequently. Yes the place is small and the location not where you think it would be at but it made our adventure worth it. Highly recommended with 2 thumbs up read more

Judgmental employees. The service was bad and rude. Didn't get to try the food because we left.

Let me tell you I am impressed. First of all during covid they have outside seating that is properly distanced, space heaters in between, and it's a big tent outside of their place that keeps you more comfy while dining. It isn't "fancy" but hey, it's about as cute and fancy as you can get in these times! Secondly, but it certainly isn't all the service was impeccable! Karen was our waitress and she was so sweet. She answered our questions, she was so polite and caring. Then when our food came out she even put on our crab boil bib for us! That was such a sweet touch and makes you feel cared for as a customer. Let us move onto Manuel he was a secondary server/doing all sorts of work around with the space heaters. He was extremely kind and asking how we were in between our meal. Very sweet and we learned that this is a family owned business! That made me love it even more, this family deserves praise! Lastly but NOT by any means LEAST... the food. We came here because they have a seafood boil and we really wanted some shrimp and crabs boiled in yummy spicy sauce with some corn and potatoes and boy did this not disappoint! The shrimp cooked perfect, not rubbery at all! The crab legs were delightful! Mmmmm. For 1 1/2 lbs shrimp, 2 king crab legs pieces (1 claw arm and 3 regular legs on each piece), 2 potatoes, 2 corn, and sausage cut up, 2 shrimp empanadas (ps get those and dip in the green sauce because oh my yummy), and our 2 horchatas the total was $75. But you get your money's worth! The spice to the sauce is wonderful. If you prefer a bit more of a kick you can ask for more spice! I hear they are considering new flavors but for now I would not complain about their crab boil flavor AT ALL! Like eat it and thank me later! Lol! Best seafood we have had in the area hands down. We love seafood and are extremely picky. Nothing to complain about here. They were clean, friendly, the food was awesome. All in all we are coming back again and I can't wait for my tastebuds to get to experience more deliciousness. Thank you to that whole staff/family. My prayers for you are that Covid doesn't keep you down. I hope that you continue to thrive because I want to see your restaurant grow... maybe consider Manteca for a second location! (Ok I'll admit it I'm selfish and want you closer!) read more
