They advertise chisme in form of little post it notes but you can't actually write any chisme in yourself. They might have run out of post it notes but who knows. The coffee shop was pretty and low lit which I appreciate but it was very small and felt kind of cluttered. They have outdoor seating tho. Paid $18.58 just to toss my coffee in the trash.... I pulled over found parking and waited. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait. I asked about their favorite drink and they ended up making that for me. The interior is very simple but beautifully designed, with the wooden tables and that industrial feel that makes you want to sit down and enjoy your coffee. The coffee was really good too! I got an iced latte and loved how smooth and creamy it was. Everything about the experience feels very laid back and effortless. But what I thought was SO interesting is that it's more than just a coffee shop. There's also a hidden clothing store inside where they sell designer pieces, which I definitely wasn't expecting! It almost feels like you're discovering a little secret shop within the coffee shop. Definitely a fun place to stop by if you love good coffee, cool spaces, and finding unique hidden gems!

Acurrúcame Café is an absolute hidden gem in Boyle Heights. As a Mexican-owned coffee shop, they…read moretruly embody their mission of making every visitor feel welcomed and valued. I visited specifically for the Mazapán Latte ($6.15), and it did not disappoint. Reyes, whom I assume is the owner, provided excellent service; he explained that the drink is meant to be enjoyed in stages--starting with two sips before stirring to balance the flavors. Getting those little pieces of marzipan in every sip was a unique and delicious experience. What truly stood out, however, was the hospitality. While I was taking photos of the mural, Reyes kindly surprised me with a complimentary Chai Latte, as it was the last day they were serving it. It was incredibly thoughtful, and the drink was fantastic. It's clear that they truly care about their community, offering high-quality, affordable coffee in a warm, inviting space. The positive vibes extend to the other customers as well. While I was photographing the decor, a fellow customer kindly offered to share her table so I could access an outlet. It's rare to find a place where both the staff and the patrons are so genuinely kind. If you're looking for great coffee and a welcoming atmosphere, do yourself a favor and support Acurrúcame Café. It's a 10/5 experience!

Truly the best coffee in the area!!!!…read more The service here is so sweet, the owners are the sweetest & really make everyone feel so welcomed. The community absolutely loves them! Their drinks are all delicious and they create flavors I do not see at other coffee shops, very original! I will say it's not the best as a workspace. Although they do have outlets, they only have 3 tables and since it's a small shop it is pretty loud but as a grab and go or a quick chat, Acurrúcame is truly great!

For May, TLC Coffee Co. was featured. This vendor had a cute setup and it was a sweet duo of mom and daughter. Ya'll already know lavender drinks are my thing of the moment so I had the iced honey lavender latte. I could not taste any honey but the lavender syrup, which is homemade, was good. The coffee beans, however, just didn't come through on this drink though, hence the three . So, for me it was just another latte lacking that sparkle I look for in my coffee. Glad I got the chance to try this vendor but I wouldn't seek them out at further events.

If I were still in school, this would definitely be a spot I'd come to get some work done. Overall, I really enjoyed it and can't wait to come back and try something new!

The staff were welcoming and friendly from the moment I walked in. Normally, I'd order an iced latte, but it was pretty expensive at $7.45... Therefore, I went the adventurous route and had their recommended Furious George, an iced latte with banana and vanilla extract. Even at 50% sweet, I still find this drink too sweet. While the interior is a bit small, there was a bit of space even on a weekend afternoon. The curtains fairly mask the street and help set a more calming environment. On this particular day, I left my earbuds at home and was worried. Thankfully, their music erred on the quieter and calmer K-Pop, even including some of the 2010s hits. While I can't vouch for a specific drink, I would return here in a heartbeat for the vibes alone.

Usually I have to tell baristas to dial down the sweetness but damo is always perfectly not that sweet for the "Asian palette" my order is always the hojicha latte even though I've tried everything on the menu. Everything is great which is very rare. Definitely appreciate how consistent they are every visit. The space itself is huge with tons of seating, so it's perfect for hanging out with friends or bringing your laptop and getting some work done. I also love that there are other spots on the block to check out, so you can grab your drink and walk around not too sketchy.

8/4/2026 3 1/2 Stars…read more First time at Damo. MATCHA EINSPANER Very creamy matcha. Matcha flavor is there, but it's not distinct matcha where you can taste the nuances of the matcha flavors. The cream top does make it very creamy and it does mask majority of the matcha flavor. It did taste like a dessert drink. It was enjoyable though. COLD BREW VANILLA Weirdly sour and smoky flavored cold brew. Slight floral flavor too. It was such an odd combination of flavors with the vanilla cold foam. The lingering aftertaste was not good either. It's neither this nor that. Would not recommend! FINANCIERS Their financiers are made by a local bakery called Musk. It seems their financier flavors are changed often, so no same flavors are in rotation. Sausage & Parmesan - The almond cake's vanilla flavor with the sausage and salty parmesan was a unique flavor. The almond cake was nice and spongy. It did take a bit of time to get used to the savory flavors with the almond cake. It's like a breakfast in an unexpected way. Nutella - Buttery almond cake with nutella and roasted hazelnuts. Enjoyed it! I think Nutella fans would like it. Mugwort + Fig - Buttery in the beginning and it ends with a good, medium-strength flavor of mugwort. Fig was garnish on top, so you barely get it. However, I like that they added the sweetness of the figs with the earthy bitter mugwort. Overall, it was uniquely delicious and mugwort was the star. Yuza + Apricot - A tad sweeter than expected due to the outer brush of yuza aka yuzu simple syrup. Loved the chewy apricot on top. It really brought a lovely fruityness to the financier. The yuzu flavor was there alongside the butteryness of the almond cake. All the financiers were done well! Delicious! Recommend trying at least one when you're at this location. Not sure if their financiers are offered at their other locations. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was good. Not terribly friendly, but still answered my questions. Staff were all busy making the drinks. AMBIANCE + SEATS Really large space with rows of tables and chairs. It was strange walking in and seeing various tables and seats to one side and it almost looked like a cafe used as office space. Seeing all the people sitting down on their laptops or talking, as though they're having a casual business meeting there. It was just strange. The tables were mixed wooden tables and chairs. There were long benches too for people waiting for takeout orders. The large space felt so roomy, I get why the tables were all taken. PARKING Street parking is available, yet when I was there in the early afternoon on a Tuesday, it was packed! The only place to park was the paid parking lot right across from Damo. Parking was $5.00. I wouldn't recommend parking elsewhere outside of that street, as it is a sketchy area and lots of homeless encampments around the area. Would I return? Not sure. I like the large, roomy warehouse space with lots of tables to sit in, but the cafe being in a sketchy area gives me hesitation. Not in love with $5.00 parking too. One of my drinks was good, but the other was bad. The only thing I loved was the financiers.
