Came here with a friend for lunch. Ordered frozen margaritas, they weren't frozen at all given basically warm margaritas. We both ordered the quesadilla grande chicken. It was fine, but not great. I found beef in my chicken, also a lot of salt on my chicken, overpowering to my meal. It was ok but I probably won't return. Catina bravo is way way better. I've heard numerous times that this place was just re-opened with a new name, but the same owner. I'm beginning to believe that's the case. The service is spotty, but manageable. We're a pretty easy table and don't need very much. Food came out quick, but we it all looked awful. My husband ordered huevos rancheros and it came out looking like egg spaghetti. It's like they opened a can of tomato paste and dumped it all over the plate. He couldn't even eat it! The beans were way over salted and I'm a salt lover. These were just too much. Don't usually like to submit a review based on my first experience, so I might edit this later. Food looked and tasted good. I ordered a steak burrito and ordered a Taco kid's meal for my son. We both enjoyed our plates. Staff was friendly and the environment was good. Only con was the music being played, it was some sort of techno lol... I don't know about you but when I go to a Mexican restaurant I want to feel as if I am actually eating in Mexico, so some Mexican music would've been nice... but hey that's just me, though. Only complain about the food was the avocado, it had some dark spots that were clearly visible... Usually, I would politely return the plate to get whatever isn't fresh replaced with something better... but then again, I am not in California where avocados are cheaper, so I guess I can't complain. We walked in & the place was empty, so I was a little nervous. But no need! This place is delicious!! They have great happy hour specials (5pm to close) and awesome daily specials. Being a Texas transplant, I'm picky about my Tex-mex. We ordered frozen margs, which tasted amazing however they were only about half frozen. Didn't stop me from enjoying them though! We asked the waiter for his recommendation and he did not disappoint in where he lead us. We absolutely loved the parrillada. We got a Double portion to split and it was more than enough for 2 meals for both of us. The table side guac was also very good and you could tell it was made with a good selection of ripe avocados. If you or your loved ones have a food allergy, do NOT go to this restaurant. We took our family here and ordered a plain grilled chicken taco for our 2 year old son. We let them know our son had a severe dairy allergy. The server then brought out his taco covered with cheese. When we let them know that they had accidentally put cheese on it, he then returned with the taco with just the lettuce and cheese removed. It was obvious because there were still remnants of the cheese on the side of the taco. We understand not everyone realizes the severity of food allergies but when we explicitly tell them, we would hope that a restaurant would respect their customers requests. read more

Do NOT waste your time here! Terrible service. Bland food! Your food will take over an hour to be brought to your table! I'm simply giving them one star because yelp won't allow me write a review without at least a one star rating. To say the service was horrible is an understatement! I went with my husband and two sons so it wasn't a big group. The restaurant (El Cabrito) didn't have a waiting list which may have caused them to sit too many people at the same time without having the staff to adequately care for the customers. The drinks took a while to come out. My husbands beer was brought out in a can and no glass to pour it into. My sons drinks were completely dry for at least 15 minutes before they got a refill. We placed our order (2 chimichanga platters and my husband and I shared the beef flameado) at 5:47 pm and received our food at 7:10 pm. Yes! Almost an hour and a half later. The flameado wasn't a flameado. In their menu they stated they'd pour a shot of alcohol and light it at our table- instead we got shredded white cheese (perhaps mozzarella) and not melted. They forgot the extra plate and our tortillas. The rice and beans that were brought out were COLD. The chimichangas were extremely bland. Seriously don't waste your time here. The food is no where near being worth the wait! I couldn't tell you who our waiter or waitress was because none of the three people (brought chips, drinks, and food, and took order) gave us names. Perhaps they were trying their best but it wasn't enough. The waitress seemed surprised that I asked how much longer it would be before we got our food. She came back after a while to tell us it would be an additional 15-20 minutes. We are in town for my son's graduation and family day. I'm so glad my soldier wasn't with us yet because we would've had to take him back to base without dinner. On top of all that- my total was $58.20 but after buying 4 duvaline (Mexican candy) $2 worth and a chicle for $.25, somehow my new total was over $65!!! How the heck does that add up?! It doesn't.
