El Bebe - newly opened in The Boro area. Street park or park in the underground garage (same garage as movie theater) and the restaurant will validate. Knowledgeable friendly hostess, who was aware that there was a 50 percent chance of rain when we asked if there was an outside table. We decided to select outside anyway and was promptly seated. (Probably avoid table 176, too close to service door and just a narrow passage to be able to enjoy the whole experience). Waitress Kimberley was quick to the table- but pressured / rushed the decision to order. (May have been overwhelmed- but she spent a lot of time away and could have made the experience better by checking on us or making suggestions.) All other servers passed us by without giving us the time of day until Kayla walked passed and immediately checked on us and was helpful in changing the experience. Working as a team matters- while Kayla excelled with demonstrating teamwork and hospitality, the other staff did not. (E.g Food runners just dumped and ran, never asking if we needed anything else or if everything looked good before disappearing). Chips and Salsa- were fresh, but tad too much salt for most. See picture. Chicken fajita arrived quickly and hot, steaming, but overloaded with onion to fill the skillet. You be the judge, picture attached. Chicken was good. Served with three small round tortillas, and nowhere near the correct amount of rice. When I asked for additional rice (after having to wave down Kimberly), a side of rice was brought to the table----- but be warned, it was also added to the bill. That $4.00 charge lingers with me, because the amount of rice served was not adequate- and we should not have been up charged for the correction. Picture attached. Chicken and steak quesadilla is available on the restaurant computer, but it's not printed on the menu. Be sure to ask if that is something you want. It also was good. Carnitas bowl- was a good size, but salty. Would not order again. Nice atmosphere, beautiful evening to sit outside- just would not be near the service door the next time- the area is too narrow and staff discuss orders right at your table- The disappearing waitress and the uptick for rice would normally cause this rating to be lower, but the extra effort from Kayla (not our waitress) checking on us, and who ended up getting us our bill, and sua sponte offering to validate our parking, improved the experience. Maybe as the restaurant gets going longer the staff will come together more as a team to improve hospitality for all tables. read more

I was trying to arrange with friends to try El Bebe for a week and we finally made it on a gorgeous spring afternoon, right in time for happy hour. We immediately ordered our margaritas, salsa trio, queso, and plentiful chips. The salsa trio were 3 different salsas: verde, pico de gallo, and I believe a chipotle sauce, which is my favorite. The queso was a great gooey consistency. I ordered a large passionfruit frozen margarita, which was perfect, very cold and not too sweet. My friend ordered the mango and my other friend ordered a strawberry frozen margarita. I ordered the spicy beef enchiladas with a mole sauce. It was quite good and the tortilla seemed to have a nice thick texture. The rice and black beans were the best I've tasted! We ordered a tres leches cake, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. I'll probably get the coconut flan the next time. We watched the sunset on the patio, felt very relaxed, and reminisced about our time in Mexico. It's a fantastic location and great atmosphere. My new favorite Mexican joint! I went here last night with friends. The drinks were amazing. They have an excellent selection of Mezcals and make great margaritas. The trio of salsas and plantains are perfection as starters. We had the enchiladas, fajitas, fish tacos, and tamales and were very impressed! Was so excited for this to finally come to the boro...but now I don't know if I want to return. Came around 3p yesterday ( restaurant had about 10 people in there, not busy at all ) and the managers standing at the host stand were super friendly. I just got a seat at the bar...there was a girl and guy bartender both of which didn't even acknowledge that I sat down. I had to wave the guy down to get a menu and water. I am in the industry so I understand when things are up and down. But to have no one even say hi is ridiculous. Anyways, again with the waving someone down go order just about everything... I got the elote dip which came out very fast(that was yummy) and for my main I got the salmon tostadas...I told the Bartender I wanted it medium rare and he didn't even ask me what temp i wanted...just rushed to put it in. Also orders carnitas tacos which were okay...nothing amazing about them. However When the salmon came out i was just annoyed with the service at this point. I asked for a box and closed my check. Sad that a new establishment doesn't have friendly service especially when the bar is one of the first things you see. Food is not even worth it for the price you pay. Overall, ok. Margaritas were pretty good and the food was as well. Service, drinks, and the kitchen were notably slow, especially for a Saturday evening when it was t very busy. The area is sort of upscale so you will likely pay decent for parking and may have to go into the garages. If parking is validated, it should be made more clear to patrons. The food and drinks are definitely overpriced but that's expected from the area. Worth a try I'd say, but I prefer other joints that offer complementary chips/salsa. read more

I ordered the Carne Asada Tacos. They were very good though more spicy than I had assumed. Non-spicy eaters may not like, the rest of us likely would enjoy. It was not burn your tongue for hours spicy but enough to tell it's there and lingers throughout the meal. I went just after open, so cannot describe the ambiance. The Boro in Tyson now has my favorite spot. El Bebé! It has some of the most authentic Mexican flavors in this area. I tried the Fresa-Jalapeño margarita boy, oh boy! It was delicious. While my family members tried Hasta La Vista and Passion Fruit margaritas, we all give the drinks a solid 100%. The menu has options for everyone's tastes. Birria s - yummy! Carne Asada - on point! And the fajitas - left many savoring for more. The portion size is very generous. Music and ambiance was awesome. Was in Tyson corner area this past weekend and decided to check out the new location and it was a great experience and the decor *chefs kiss*. All of the staff members even the managers were very friendly and attentive. Lamont the bartender made the best Azul margarita !!! I ordered the queso dip and the honey chipotle salmon tacos with yellow rice which was very flavorful and tasty. I hope to be able to order the salmon soon at the Navy Yard location. read more

This place is legit and feels more authentic than most other Mexican restaurants in the DMV. The food served was simply outstanding, and I was highly impressed. The service was exceptionally efficient and friendly, especially from ALY, who went above and beyond to provide exceptional service with such a positive and energetic attitude. I particularly enjoyed the carne asada plate, which was incredibly delicious and truly worth indulging in. Just visited tonight and I have very mixed feelings. Two things to highlight, great customer service and quick turnaround from when we ordered and received our food. On the other side, I cannot say I enjoyed every dish that was brought to the table for many reason. We ordered appetizers, main entrees, and a dessert tonight. Of those three, only appetizer left us moldy content. We ordered the open faced tamale and carne asada burrito for entrees. While the tamale seemed far fetched concept wise from what we were used to in traditional tamales the burrito seemed to have little to no flavor which made it hard to enjoy even though it was a decent size! The worst part of our meal turned out to be the tres leches cake which by our shock had no actual milk or liquid within the cake beside the khakis syrup at the bottom. The cake was very dry and I truly believe it have not been soaked in any milk! Another note to mentions is we also ordered the Hasta La Vista and My Paloma is Smoking drinks, both leaned hard on the smoky flavors and we would recommend. This experience was underwhelming especially with it being so new and we have been so excited to try this place. Not sure if we would come back unless to grab mezcal cocktails. read more

Nobody else in the restaurant just before happy hour ordered drinks they gave us at happy hour price. However, the drinks were about 2 inches below the rim line on margaritas Would not give us the happy hour discount on the chips and salsa 10 minutes prior to happy hour starting very on attentive server. For a new Mexican place, we were really impressed. The queso and tomato salsa were both outstanding. I loved the smokey flavors! My enchiladas were also great, with a delicious red sauce on top. We don't usually order dessert, but because the appetizers and entrees were so good we couldn't resist. I really enjoyed the tres leches. I liked Kahlua flavor, and I appreciated that it wasn't overly rich. The churro donuts were also delightful and great for sharing with friends and family members. The service was also excellent. Our waiter was attentive and made sure to give us their recommendations! The manager was also very friendly and really cared to know our thoughts on the food. Already one of my favorites! Really enjoy the concept, food is a delish Mexican with a twist take on classics combinations. The appetizers are yummy, and the main dishes were perfectly cooked and tasty. Oh and don't sleep on the drinks, the Azul Margarita while listening to some good tunes will transport you to a mini vacation, at lest for a few minutes. We will become regulars for sure. read more

Good, but there is some room to improve. We visited for an early dinner on Saturday. The place definitely wasn't crowded when we arrived, but it was packed by the time we left. We were seated immediately, unfortunately it was at a table near the door. Given the place was almost empty, we'd have expected a better spot. But, none the less, it did the job. Our waitress arrived quickly. She was prompt throughout our visit. Attentive, but not overbearing. Cordial and knowledgeable. She did a good. To start, we ordered chips with salsa and queso and a plate of Platanos Fritos, along with 3 margaritas...Fresa-Jalapeno, Passion Fruit, and Refrescante. The chips were solid and the salsas (there was a selection of 3) were all good. But, we didn't love the queso. It was a bit sweet for our taste. The Platanos Fritos were good, but the refried bean accompaniment tasted and looked like someone ran the smoky black beans served with entrees through a food processor. Definitely not refried beans. The taste was good, just not what the menu described. The Fresa-Jalapeno and Passion Fruit margaritas were tasty, but the Refrescante got a bit dull halfway through. For our meals, we ordered the Birria Tacos, Cheese Enchiladas, and Fish Taco Platter. The Birria Tacos were excellent...a real high point of the meal. Crisp, flavorful, and very enjoyable. On the other hand, the Cheese Enchiladas were a real low point. There were two very small enchiladas, covered in a heap of the sweet queso, with about 1 tablespoon of salsa roja poured along one edge and a sprinkling of chopped raw red onion. The resultant taste was overwhelmingly sweet queso with an occasional burst of raw onion. Neither the flavor of the enchilada filling nor the salsa roja were discernible...just a lake of sweet queso. The Fish Tacos were tasty...straight forward, but good. Each of the entrees were accompanied by a small bowl filled with half rice and half black beans. Both tasted good, but the portion felt quite small and we didn't love that the two were in a bowl together, where they became mostly mixed. It would have been nicer to have them separate...and have a bit more of them. All in all, a decidedly mixed experience. But, good enough we'll give it another go. One final note in case the restaurant actually reads this. It was disappointing to not be allowed to mix tacos. There are many interesting choices; we'd have liked to have tried more than just one. While we enjoyed the fish, by the third taco, we would have happily traded it for something different to have some variety. It really felt like an artificial limit to generate more revenue...get us to order another taco entree. Allowing mixing wouldn't add strain to the kitchen or the waitstaff, but would improve the options for the customer. I hope the restaurant changes its policy. read more

Went here today for a family birthday celebration. Despite having reservations, there was not a table set up for seven so the host quickly added 2 more chairs to a small table. There was only 3 other occupied tables in the entire restaurant so we didn't understand having to squish together to eat. The server came to the table and told us that the grill wasn't working so there were no fajitas. We ordered quesidillas, burrito bowls, fish tacos and chicken tinga. The chicken tinga was so salty that it was inedible. I did let the server know and she told the kitchen. Kitchen staff tried it and agreed that it was too salty and the server took it off of the check. Even with the chicken being refunded, our party of five ended up costing 237 dollars before tip. Our server was good and we tipped accordingly but no one particularly liked their food and there wasn't any one dish that we'd recommend. We will not return. read more

As a 26 yr. old, BLACK-EDUCATED AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN, I would like to put my recent encounter at this establishment on BLAST! 6/27/24 around 5:30 pm I decided to go to a place I've sent plenty of my customers too. Well to my surprise did know that a BLACK woman can't go out to eat and have nice drink in A/C. I was not greeted by anyone even the manager looked me dead in face and ignored me, when I ask to be seated, I was told my only option was OUTSIDE! IN 90+ DEGREE weather. Although counting 6+ open spaces and 2 open seats at the bar I was told I could not sit nowhere inside and it would be a 25min wait and i would have to wait outside. So, without hesitation I was walked outside with a menu although I had already stated I would not be eating outside. I then ask to speak to a manger and to my Suprise it was the same man that looked me dead in the eyes when I entered the establish. I then ask him why was i being denied inside and I was simply told that it was nothing against "MY KIND" he just didn't have any seating for me, and he has 4 groups that had reservations but mind you I counted a plethora of open spaces. I was then told I could go elsewhere and eat. HUMILIATION is an understatement. Why was I denied the same access that any other woman was privileged too. I will be taking legal action, and I will not be silenced. I work too hard, to be denied entry anywhere due to the color of my skin and yes, I will continue to base if off the color of my skin because there was no other reason. I was not one valid reason instead i was told there wasn't a problem with my kind, I can go eat somewhere else, and there was nothing that could be done about it. Well, this little black girl has a very great thriving career and just so happen to know my rights as BLACK AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMEN!
