SO.GOOD!!! This is…read morethe best spot for Bossy Beulah. Me and my crew were going biking on the Greenway but want the get lunch before heading out. Best decision ever to come here. I got chicken tenders and fries and other got a chicken sandwich. The tenders were SO good and thick and the fries were awesome. Lots of parking options obviously because of the back lot and the patio seating was fantastic. I think this works because it's fast casual instead of a formal sit down experience. It's right at the entry of the Greenway so it makes sense to have a good solid quick place that offers great options that are family friendly and CREW friendly off the bat. (no Cap) So good and you won't be disappointed

We ordered the Hot Thigh Sandwich, wings, and tenders, along with the coleslaw and fries. Everything was delicious and cooked just right. We also tried the freshly squeezed lemonade, which was refreshing and a perfect match with the meal. And then came dessert -- the soft serve ice cream was fantastic! Honestly, it was one of the highlights of the visit and the perfect way to finish the meal. The staff was friendly, and the common areas were clean, comfortable, and inviting. Overall, we had a really enjoyable experience and will definitely be back to try more of the menu. Highly recommended if you're looking for some seriously tasty chicken in Charlotte!I

HIDDEN GEM ALERT!…read more And that's not an exaggeration: this is a pop-up inside the Forest Hill Church kitchen! Don't let the random location fool you; HA Pigsmith's is busting out some mean eats, with hefty portions and affordable prices. How it works: Follow @so_science on Instagram, and they'll post the week's menu over the weekend. The themes vary every week, so keep an eye on it! You have until midnight on Tuesday to email them with your order. On Wednesday morning, you get an email with payment and pick-up details, and then you swing by the back of the church between 4 and 7 PM on Wednesday to pick up your goods! Pretty easy process, especially if you live close by. So far we've gotten dishes from their BBQ menu (brisket, bbq beans, cheese and mac) and their Greek menu (moussaka with side Greek salad, gyro with fries). Everything is restaurant quality. Let me rephrase: everything is excellent restaurant quality! Like what I would expect if I went to a BBQ joint or Greek spot that specialize in that type of cuisine. Pretty incredible. We originally found out about HA's from a neighbor, and I added this business page to Yelp to be able to share my photos and experiences to help spread the word about this awesome local spot!

My first introduction to Pollo Campero wasn't in Charlotte. It was back in 2001 when I worked at…read moreHouston's international terminal. Flights from Guatemala would arrive, and passengers would walk off the plane carrying bags of Pollo Campero. The aroma was unforgettable. Ever since then, I've been curious about what made this chicken so special. Fast forward to Charlotte, and now I finally understand the hype. I stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered the four-piece roasted chicken meal with sweet plantains, coleslaw, and a roll. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The chicken was juicy and packed with spices that set it apart from your typical fast-food chicken chain. It's hard to explain until you try it, but the seasoning has a distinctive flavor that makes Pollo Campero uniquely its own. The sweet plantains were excellent. Soft, caramelized, and sweet with those slightly crispy edges that make plantains so addictive. The coleslaw was cold, creamy, and crunchy, which paired perfectly with the chicken. The service was friendly, the value was excellent, and my order was accurate. I always take a moment to check my order before leaving the drive-thru, and everything was exactly right. If your fried chicken experience begins and ends with KFC, Bojangles, or Church's, give Pollo Campero a try. It's a delicious taste of Guatemala and a reminder that great chicken comes in many forms. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte.

Several excellent local restaurants, too. So I had high hopes today for Pollo Campero. PC was clean when I arrived at 12:30. Quite busy with about a third of the tables in use and the remaining were clear of dirty dishes. Surprising because they don't have a trash can that I could see - the staff bus and clean tables, clearing them swiftly. I ordered a three piece at the counter and it didn't take long until a running found my tent card and I was able to start. The chicken was thoroughly cooked, still moist. Not much for flavor in the skin today, it needed some hot sauce to bring out the taste. The cole slaw was creamy and crisp. Still good but also a little bland. The small dinner roll wrapped in plastic was fresh and fluffy. Overall, it's a nice little fast food spot. If you're looking for something in a known quantity along South Boulevard near the light rail, this will work nicely. [Review 728 of 2025 - 4162 in North Carolina - 24288 overall]

I ordered online without any issues, paid online, then came through the drive thru to pick everything up. You'll notice there is a huge menu when you pull up - lots of options for everyone. I ordered 2 pc fried chicken wings, a chicken Philly, and fried oysters. I've never really eaten oysters before, so I decided to try them fried first. I'm not big on slimy textures (like okra when it's not fried), so I figured this was the safest way to give them a shot. I actually really enjoyed them and highly recommend them from here. They were tasty, fresh, well seasoned, and not slimy at all. I'm glad I got the oysters and wings as I was not a fan of the chicken Philly. It was not traditional at all. I've had some really good Phillies from south Jersey and this was more of just a chopped up grilled chicken sandwich with warm/soggy lettuce. It wasn't done right, so I wouldn't get that again. The fried wings were excellent. Overall, it was a great experience for a great value. The staff who handled my order were nice and friendly. I just pulled up in the lot and ate. I would definitely come back to try more items next time I'm in Charlotte.

It's been…read morein the same spot on Montford since I moved here decades ago and the owners haven't bothered updating the inside. It's clean but plain, with some old tables and chairs inside and on the sparse patio. But you aren't paying for ambiance. For that, go elsewhere. But if you want hearty food at a good price, The Roasting Company is your place. My favorite forever was either the chicken jaco or the chicken and queso, both served on rice that I then mix with a healthy side of steamed spinach. Then I discovered the Thursday chicken and dumplings, which is what I had today and why I am finally letting you all in on where to get excellent chicken and dumplings if Dish (off Central) is too far away. Like everything we've ordered at Roasting Company, the serving is generous and stick-to-your-ribs delicious. Don't let the size fool you, if you're going for takeout; that 16oz container is filled to the brim with a thick mix of tender shredded chicken, dumpling noodles and a dense, flavorful sauce. Mind you, all the chicken and sides I've tried there are good to excellent (except I didn't really care for the smoked cheese and pasta salad). My husband swore by the chicharrons and the chips and queso or guacamole are solid sides. So if you happen by there after the chicken and dumplings has sold out - which happens pretty much every Thursday - or it's another day of the week, you can't miss with their regular menu or their other specials. So many of our older Charlotte favorites have gone out of business or the owners retired. Heed my advice and try The Roasting Company. Long may it serve us delicious food!
