Chicken/shrimp hibachi under cooked rice with some sort of noodles??

First, let me start by saying everything is not for me. It was a huge miss for me. For the price I expected a lot more for hibachi but I got far below mediocre from the rice being under cook to the noodles being like they came from the chicken noodles soup can. I also got a drink thinking it was fresh fruit blended together but I got a sourly drink that I wasn't able to consume.

Saw this food truck pop up on my yelp homepage and thought of giving it a shot since i'm always craving hibachi food. The menu is high priced so I always anticipate the food to match the cost, but the staff behind the truck were incredibly nice and were just as excited for me to try the food as I was. I ordered the Trio Combo so I could get the best of everything for my first time. The portion was absolutely humongous! Like I felt as if I should have weighed my plate because it was heavy! Starting to understand why they have their prices the way they do, especially if it's served like that with fresh whole shrimp. As far as non-traditional, in-house hibachi joints go, this place isn't bad at all. I prefer to have a bit more of a savory flavor like a sweeter teriyaki taste to it, but everything was cooked to my liking from the meat to the vegetables. I'd come back for more, but it'd have to be around payday when I do!

    Terrible no hibachi food truck

My wife and I had each visited Japanese steakhouses like this before we met, but somehow neither of us had been to one during our 18 years together. Then we discovered Noboru! We enjoyed our first visit so much that we returned just two weeks later. It isn't overly fancy--it offers the classic Benihana-style experience, with the chef preparing everything directly in front of you--but the food is tender, flavorful, and filling. Of course, you also get dinner and a show! The service was spot-on during both visits. We were always well taken care of, and everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. I ordered the larger filet dinner both times and didn't change a thing. When something is that good, why mess with it? My wife ordered the steak and shrimp during our first visit, but she enjoyed my filet so much that she upgraded to the filet and shrimp on our return. Quality cuts of meat, skillful preparation, excellent seasoning, friendly service, and an entertaining experience have made Noboru a new favorite in our restaurant rotation. We thoroughly enjoyed both visits, had no complaints whatsoever, and will absolutely be back very soon. To those about to nosh, we are jealous!

So his choice was here. Google directions suck they took us around the back to the parking garage for the 2nd level and since we have never been here before it took us a few minutes to figure out how to get down to the first level. When we entered there was a waiter taking an order and no one else on the floor so we had a little bit to get seated even though there were only two other parties in the restaurant. We were able to sit wherever we wanted so I sat with a view of the screen with the replay of the Brazil FIFA game on. My husband wanted the unagi don but didn't order because the price seemed high. The table next to us all ordered bowls and the serving size was huge so my husband regretted it. We order takoyaki, spicy wings, and 3 rolls Godzilla, Hadouken, and Master Roshi. The wings had amazing flavor but were not spicy. Takoyaki was flavorful and the perfect temperature. I get a lot of takoyaki that is entirely too hot and have to crack them open to cool before eating them. My husband did not enjoy the Godzilla roll he said the topping was too much and didn't add to the flavor. But enjoyed the other two. I enjoyed all three rolls the flavor was fresh and very little need for soy sauce fine without it. If we are ever in Charlotte with time to eat I would stop here again.

To make things worse, the initial plates came out cold (both mine and my date's) which was very disappointing. My remade plate did come out hot, but by then the experience was already affected. I also didn't like that it's $5 extra for more rice, even if you're just trying to substitute it for the veggies. That felt unnecessary. The fried calamari tasted like it came straight out of a frozen box, and instead of squid rings, it was more like straight pieces of squid, which wasn't what I expected. To top it off, I found what looked like a white hair in my food and had to get my plate remade. The server was very nice and handled it well, which I appreciated, but the overall food quality just didn't make up for it. As someone who eats hibachi often, I'd say this spot needs to add more flavor and seasoning to really stand out. I'd probably pass on this hibachi spot.

We ordered a double order of the Philly roll, an order of dumplings, and a hibachi steak with mushrooms plate to go for about $48. The staff were very friendly, attentive, and made ordering very smooth/easy. There isn't really a waiting area per se, so we sat at a table while waiting on our order (which didn't take very long). Philly Roll: kids liked it. You can't really go wrong with smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber. The fish tasted fresh. Dumplings: I think this was supposed to come with 6, but we only had 5. The dumplings are a mix of chicken and pork. They tasted okay. I prefer pan fried, while there were more so steamed. Hibachi steak with mushrooms: comes with sweet carrots, fried rice, and a 4oz container of white sauce. The carrots were indeed sweet (naturally) but quite mushy. I found the rice and the steak to both lack seasoning. The sauce was a MUST. I wish I was asked how I like my steak cooked cuz these were bordering well done. Nonetheless, I don't think I'll go back here for hibachi or dumplings. The sushi is a maybe but for its price point, I can find better or cheaper options that are comparable in taste.

Fortunately they had small platters, ramens, soups, and other dishes you can choose from if you do not want the bbq. The place is pretty clean, the service is fast. The server is also very kind as she not only made sure we were taken care of, but also explained things about each dishes like the stone bowl and how it was affect my meal. I've enjoyed Korean barbecue many times, so when I saw the price, I thought I had found a great midday option. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. The happy hour kalbi turned out to be four small pieces of meat for $9.95, which I had to cook myself. A bowl of rice was an additional charge, and there were no sides, vegetables, soup, or salad included. I left the restaurant still hungry, which is never a good sign after lunch. What disappointed me most was the lack of guidance and hospitality. As someone new to Japanese-style barbecue, I asked a few simple questions to understand what I was ordering. When I confirmed this was the happy hour portion, the server said yes--but didn't explain the serving size or suggest additional items. A little coaching would have gone a long way. At one point, when I asked whether the meal came with sides like banchan or rice, I was told, "This is not Korean barbecue." I completely understand the distinction now, but the tone felt curt rather than helpful. Hospitality is about helping guests navigate something unfamiliar, not making them feel like they should already know. I also ordered iced water with lemon, and the lemon never arrived...only the ice water. Was this an omen of what's to come?? Another frustration was the parking situation. I paid for parking through ParkMobile outside the restaurant, only to discover after entering that parking validation was available inside. That information would have been much more useful if it had been communicated clearly before guests park or pay. From a customer experience standpoint, it feels like something that could easily be improved with better signage--lead with the good stuff. The location itself is also somewhat isolated. While technically in Uptown, it's not in a particularly walkable or high-traffic area, so most guests will need to park in a garage or pay for street parking. There isn't much nearby other than an apartment complex above the restaurant, which makes clear parking instructions and strong service even more important. To be fair, the restaurant was clean, and the meat itself was flavorful. The concept of Japanese BBQ is interesting, and I now understand that this style is very different from Korean BBQ, with smaller, à-la-carte portions designed to be built into a meal. That said, the overall experience felt transactional rather than welcoming. I left hungry--and disappointed--not because of the food quality, but because the service and communication could have been better at several points along the way. This visit felt like a missed opportunity. With a little more attentiveness, clearer guidance, and stronger customer engagement, the experience could have been completely different. Don't let one restaurant deter you. Life is short--get out there and eat.

We'd never tried Omakase before, but we've had other curated dining experiences. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. Our waitress was pleasant, she started on beverages, and explained that the Omakase would be a two‑hour experience...totally fine. Within the first 20 minutes, our first dish arrived and it was excellent...But then...nothing. We waited, and waited, and waited. An entire hour passed before the next dish appeared. I pulled the waitress aside to check on the delay, she explained they had a sudden influx of customers but she'd ask the kitchen to move a little quicker. The food did start coming out after that, and the managers came over to address the delay, which I appreciated, but the damage was done. I wanted a memorable birthday experience for my daughter, and unfortunately it ended up being a bit of a disappointment considering the time and cost. The food itself was delicious, but poor pacing and lack of attention to the customer overshadowed the entire experience. I didn't ask for compensation but the managers took it upon themselves to comp my wine flight. I hope this was a one off experience but I can't say that I'll return to this restaurant.

We got the pickled wasabi on the side so it wasn't spicy. - Cucumber roll 4.5/5: Simple staple but refreshing and tasty. I think it wasn't as good as expected, but still not bad at all. The servers were so sweet and friendly, and the ambiance was really perfect for a date night with the low lighting, candles, and spacious interior. They also gave us free edamame (truffle!) while we waited due to a bit of a wait/kitchen backup, which was a very nice gesture. I would come back!
