It's served slightly warm with a tiny jalapeno and a dash of chili hot sauce on each piece. I got the Summer roll ($16) and loved it. It was shrimp tempura, lobster salad, mango slices, and chili sauce. I also got the lychee vodka sake tini ($15) and it was delicious. The other 2 gals loved their rolls also. Our waiter was good about checking on us, but I did have to flag him down to get regular soy sauce. Only light soy sauce is available on the table. Free Parking is in a garage directly behind the restaurant. Definitely will return !

Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several areas. Given the location, you'd expect the service to be A1. Instead, I was highly disappointed. Our server was friendly enough and did share the popular items, which I appreciated, but the follow-through from the kitchen didn't match the expectations that were set. I went with the recommended Panther Roll, and it was not at all what I expected -- it came out half-baked and lacking in both flavor and presentation. The crab Rangoons were even more concerning; they were fried in what tasted like old oil, leaving a heavy greasy aftertaste. The batter itself didn't seem right, and overall they were difficult to enjoy. I've worked in the hospitality industry for seven years and recently started writing reviews to offer honest feedback that can help restaurants improve. I genuinely dislike writing negative reviews, but this visit left me no choice. Konnichiwa has the potential to be a hit with a more engaged, enthusiastic staff, consistently hot food, and some attention to kitchen maintenance -- especially the fryer and oil. I hope this feedback is helpful, and I truly believe with a few adjustments, the experience could be much better.

Everything was cooked perfectly--flavorful, fresh, and super satisfying. The portion was generous, so I have leftovers for dinner, which is always a win! The restaurant has some indoor seating, and street parking is available. Service was quick, making it a great spot for a fast but filling meal. Definitely a solid choice for hibachi--will be back!

I ordered the teriyaki steak with fried rice and all of the vegetables that came with it. It came with a side of sweet carrots and choice of rice or noodles. For roughly $16-17 I would say you get a good portion of food that was loaded in the box. It comes with a larger container of yum yum sauce which is a plus for sauce lovers; compared to other side sauces from other restaurants. I liked that the vegetables were cooked fresh however the sweet carrots were slightly hard. I like them sweet and soft, but that's just a personal preference. I asked for medium rare steak but of course I knew that it would be well done. That is of most hibachi places I go to.

Our waiter had a few tables and did not stop all night from drinks to food he was always there to help up. The broccoli with melted cheese and cheese corn were some of our favorites! The chicken did not seem to have a lot of flavor/ sauce, but we may have overcooked it. All of the steaks were tasty and delicious!!

I've enjoyed Korean barbecue many times, so when I saw the price, I thought I had found a great midday option. Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to expectations. The happy hour kalbi turned out to be four small pieces of meat for $9.95, which I had to cook myself. A bowl of rice was an additional charge, and there were no sides, vegetables, soup, or salad included. I left the restaurant still hungry, which is never a good sign after lunch. What disappointed me most was the lack of guidance and hospitality. As someone new to Japanese-style barbecue, I asked a few simple questions to understand what I was ordering. When I confirmed this was the happy hour portion, the server said yes--but didn't explain the serving size or suggest additional items. A little coaching would have gone a long way. At one point, when I asked whether the meal came with sides like banchan or rice, I was told, "This is not Korean barbecue." I completely understand the distinction now, but the tone felt curt rather than helpful. Hospitality is about helping guests navigate something unfamiliar, not making them feel like they should already know. I also ordered iced water with lemon, and the lemon never arrived...only the ice water. Was this an omen of what's to come?? Another frustration was the parking situation. I paid for parking through ParkMobile outside the restaurant, only to discover after entering that parking validation was available inside. That information would have been much more useful if it had been communicated clearly before guests park or pay. From a customer experience standpoint, it feels like something that could easily be improved with better signage--lead with the good stuff. The location itself is also somewhat isolated. While technically in Uptown, it's not in a particularly walkable or high-traffic area, so most guests will need to park in a garage or pay for street parking. There isn't much nearby other than an apartment complex above the restaurant, which makes clear parking instructions and strong service even more important. To be fair, the restaurant was clean, and the meat itself was flavorful. The concept of Japanese BBQ is interesting, and I now understand that this style is very different from Korean BBQ, with smaller, à-la-carte portions designed to be built into a meal. That said, the overall experience felt transactional rather than welcoming. I left hungry--and disappointed--not because of the food quality, but because the service and communication could have been better at several points along the way. This visit felt like a missed opportunity. With a little more attentiveness, clearer guidance, and stronger customer engagement, the experience could have been completely different. Don't let one restaurant deter you. Life is short--get out there and eat.

We were a party of 4 on a Saturday, and it was my friends birthday. We were seated at a low four top and my friend received a special menu with Happy Birthday watermarked on it which was a nice touch. We ordered some drinks and then food basically tapas style. We had a variety of rolls and a couple non sushi starters like peppers and crispy shrimp. All of the plates came out at a good pace, we were able to enjoy the current before starting the next. The drinks were solid and the service was great- friendly and attentive, clearing out plates and silverware with each round. I can see why this was such a highly rated and booked spot. It's in a good central location in south end, decent parking and plenty of options to explore the immediate vicinity afterwards. @azfitfoodfun

The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and both the cocktails and no tails were great. The atmosphere and ambiance made the night feel special. Even with that, we still enjoyed the experience and would come back again.
