This place is pretty huge. There is plenty of parking as they have their own space. The food was decent. I like that they have a lot of seafood options. I do feel like they don't have enough Chinese dishes which is rare. I like the noodle bar, you don't see that often at buffets. The service was good. They came and took our empty plate pretty often. Seems clean. I'd probably come again but on a weekday when is cheaper.

I saw this place while driving around the Matthews vicinity. The parking lot was not crowded and there was probably a good reason. It wasn't the food quality. The variety and amount is very good at this Asian buffet but the surprise is that lunch will cost you 30 dollars per person. I am not a lobster or crab person so I really don't go after the higher price items. I was impressed with the cleaniness especially the bathrooms. The ice cream is served individual containers and it's Hershey's brand and not a generic label. The hibachi has a noodle soup area that offers 5 varieties and that is unique. Overall, I probably wouldn't come every week but once in a while, it would be worth the visit.

Pleasantly surprised at the seafood selection on Saturdays and Sundays. Not only did they have a make your own stir fry, but also had ramen and noodle soup choices!

Ambiance was fine and the service was good. The best thing I like is cleanliness. The food selection was nice too. I minus one star because the rice on sushi wasn't fresh as once you put on your mouth. I almost choke because it wasn't soft but then quickly I drank water. You guys need to check your rice before you prepare sushi. Overall it was ok! For quick lunch I would recommend this place.

Not the best ,not a lot of choice when it comes to buffet part of it but the grill and soups makes up the difference service was good my cup was. Not empty at all and they kept my table cleared from dirty dashes the koi fish pond give it a great ambiance I would come again if I was around the neighborhood again

The food was really good and abundant, many many variety of foods. The service was pretty good and the ambiance was great! We really enjoyed ourselves at the restaurant.

Two stars but would be better if they at least tried to enforce mask mandates. Yes, when the church crowd comes in at 12:30 and NONE of them are wearing their masks properly, it's time for me to go. Not wearing them at the host stand, no wearing them while they rearrange tables (party of 16, yeah, that's not social distancing.) and not wearing them as they fill their plates. I wrapped up immediately and departed. Other patrons were wearing masks properly and of course, the staff was wearing theirs. I really liked the disposable gloves that were set out on the buffet stations so that tongs could be reused safely. That was great. As for the food. the sushi station was great. Some nigiri and maki rolls and a few deep fried maki (this is the South, of course) and it was all fresh. Hibachi station was doing good business and there is a soup station as well. One steam table was dedicated to the fried octopus and fried crabs and other more ethnic Chinese food. Others had the usual Americanized chicken and seafood was various sauces. Also fresh and definitely clean while being restocked. Nothing too spicy and nothing too innovative, but decent. Service was good and the tables were reasonably separated (other than the above). If they'd follow the rules (or at least encourage customers to do so), this would be three stars. [Review 14470 overall, 1796 of 2020, number 2731 in North Carolina.]

Asian Buffet and Grill I wanted to like you, I wanted you to be the best buffet the Charlotte area had to offer but there were some things that hurt this possibility. Now my parents have some weird obsession with Chinese buffers. I'm not sure if it's the love of Americanized Chinese food or the ability to eat whatever you want and as much as you want. Me however I'm not a fan of Chinese buffets. I really got my hopes up when I saw all the different options Asian Buffet and Grill had to offer. There is sushi, hibachi, a soup station and several different hot and cold food buffet options. I was most excited for the soup station. Not to many Chinese buffets have these stations and they are my favorite. The station had 6 different soups you could choose from and 4 different noodle options. I chose the curry with the rice vermicelli. The broth was not very flavorful at all. It had a very faint curry taste. My nephew got the Vietnamese pho soup. This broth seemed to have a little more flavor but was still very bland. My hibachi dinner was good. I appreciated all of the options they had for this station and the speed of the cook. He was on it! My other hot food was good from the buffet. I also liked how they had a very varied set of dishes for you to choose from. And there wasn't pizza and Mac-a-roni like some other buffets. Someone explain how those got in the mix? When we arrived the place was very empty but as we finished they were running a wait. They staff was kinda half busing the tables in the beginning of our meal and towards the end they were more on top of it because of their wait. All in all I think this Chinese buffet is a better option in the charlotte area. I just need them to give those broths some more flavor! This place had a wide variety of food to choose from and the staff were quite friendly. For some good food, this is good buffet to go to.

Ask the Community - Asian Buffet & Grill

I drove by with no cars outside. Are they CLOSED?

Sometimes they close on Monday for heavy cleaning

When I drove by last night, it looked like they were changing the name on the sign from Tropicana to Asian. Can anyone confirm? It didn't change ownership / management or anything, did it?

In today's Clipper mailer, they have a full-page ad as "Asian Buffet & Grill" and listing as "Now Open". Looks like they changed their lunch price, too...$5.99 Mon-Fri 11am-4pm. $9.99 dinner Mon-Fri and all day Sat/Sun.

Prices for lunch and dinner?

$8.99 and $12.99 Worth every penny

The Dim Sum is fantastic! lots of options, everything perfectly prepared and presented. We ordered the sesame balls with red bean paste, spicy dumplings, crab Rangoon, chicken fried rice, spring rolls, and steamed crystal shrimp dumplings, pan fried pork and cabbage dumplings, and the sticky rice with chicken. Each choice as fresh, perfectly prepared, and tasted fantastic. There were 3 of us and we all ate well and had plenty of leftovers, which is always nice. And the best part was the cost of this feast. It was significantly lower than meals I have had at other Asian restaurants whose prices were much higher, food wasn't as well prepared and gave you much smaller portions. Our server, Ana, was wonderful. She even taught me how to use chopsticks properly. Loved her! The Manager, Tom, was also great! The place was very clean and had a lovely atmosphere. It would be great for date night, celebration dinners, and even if you just wanted to have a nice, quiet solo meal. 10 out of 10!!

There was no one there to really greet me so walked over to the table where group that I was meeting was. With over 20 people in the group, the restaurant was able to accommodate nicely with service being very good with timely drink refills. For the food, it was ok, I wouldn't say that it was the best Chinese food I've ever ate. I've had better at cheaper places. For the price, the food wasn't worth what was charged. I ordered beef and vegetables which did not include rice that was charged separately. The beef slices were thin and found bone in one piece after I tasted and spit out; vegetables were tasty. Rice tasted very dry and wasn't sticky and moist. I'm glad that I tried but found the food to be very expensive especially since it was just okay. But I don't think I would visit again.

And as crowded as it was on our recent visit, The One may eventually have to seek out trendier, more spacious digs somewhere else in the Queen City. Until then, be prepared for a noisy ambiance, peak hour waits and tables that are a bit close for comfort. But the food and cocktails make it all worth it. The extensive menu of shareable plates offers something for every palate, from the tasty Fettucini with Roasted Duck Ragu and flavorful Braised Short Ribs to the amazing Oxtail Empanadas. Paired with a perfectly mixed Old Fashioned or a bottle of wine from their impressive selection, it adds up to a compelling culinary experience for anything from date night to an evening with friends. Service was excellent on our visit and prices were very reasonable for a meal of this caliber. Parking is free and super-easy, but reservations are highly recommended -- especially for weekend visits. My only gripe was the tightness of the space, which makes intimate conversation a bit challenging and the tables a bit crowded -- especially when you order a variety of plates. But if you can manage to visit on a quiet weeknight, The One will deliver a wonderful tapas meal that will have you planning a return visit before you pick up the check.

You aren't greeted warmly or even welcomingly. Each time I go, I have a different server and it offers me hope that I have another chance at feeling good about how I was treated. Instead, I have yet to be impressed with the service. Recently, I had so much oyster shell shrapnel that I couldn't even eat the dozen I ordered. I tried picking it out, cleaning it up but it was in the mucus of the oyster. I sent them back, with cause, and they did replace them. I was deeply disappointed that there were no apologies for the fact that someone thought it was good enough to send out with shards of sharp slivers of shell all throughout the oysters. Whoever sent this out, knew they had done a bad job opening the shells. They let it go out, disregarding how dangerous shell slivers can be on the intestinal tract. The server was shocked that I complained and sent them back. I wish I had taken a picture to show how much was there. Trust when I say, it was bad. It takes something significant for me to complain about it. I hope they learned from this but I truthfully think they blew it off like it was just another complaint. My review is based on multiple experiences and focusing on the one negative. The takeaway from this should be that their service has room for improvement and they should really consider addressing it to make the experience for the patrons to be titillating, and to entice them to return. You should never leave a restaurant feeling like you wasted your money and/or time, and I felt both this time.
