Celebrating Cinco De Mayo this is the place to be with happy hour deals. They do have a pretty big patio with plenty of fans and misters to keep you cool in the Texas heat. Of course they are super busy so service was slow but expected due to the holiday. The margaritas aren't my favorite they taste a little watered down and the food is decent. Staff is very friendly and they do come around pretty quick to clear off the table. My favorite part of this restaurant is ALWAYS their sign out front. It was someplace that caught my eye while passing by. It was 3 pm on a wed and pretty empty. We were promptly greeted and seated by staff. Our waitress changed shifts before we placed our orders. The place was interesting visually they have up plexiglass between booths. There is a separate bar area. The food was ehh.. subpar, just ok. No real flavor just normal. Service never disappointed me. Food however didn't disappoint until when I got home. I wouldn't recommend getting tamale plate for sure. The food tasted great but my stomach didn't agree later that night. I fell asleep next thing I knew I was in bathroom. Stomach was hurting and burning. Then i so maybe it's the salsa on top of tamale or the queso. Don't recommend the order if you're stomach sensitive to spicy food. Let me start by apologizing because I didn't take any photos. I been passing by this restaurant and I always wondered why this place was always packed with customers so I decided to give them a try. The ambiance: The place is homey, comfortable and welcoming. The food: To access the menu, you have to use your phone, our waiter David M was very helpful showing us how to view it on our phone. We ordered a small Guac to start and a beef fajita for two with corn and flour tortillas. The fajitas are fantastic, period.... ....The flavor, the marinade, the tenderness, they were perfect, I was looking for good fajitas and I'm so glad I found them here. The amount was just right, cooked with onions and bell peppers. They come with corn or flour tortillas, we got both. The flour tortillas were possibly homemade, not the corn tortillas. They also come with a side of pico, cheese, shredded lettuce, Guac and sour cream, in addition to Spanish rice and lightly refried beans. The service: As soon as we sat down fresh salsa and chips were delivered to our table. David M got our drinks and food in fairly good timing considering it was a Saturday. ***My only complaint, when out waiter was away and we needed him, we got the attention of two other waiters, and instead of coming to my aid, and telling me they would go get my waiter (after we made eye contact), they went the other way, and that is a little rude. I been here twice and both times have been celebrating with co-workers. This place is big and can accommodate large parties with enough time. The staff is nice and helpful and the drinks are good as well. I had the flautas wich are good and full of flavor. The shrimp diablo is bacon wrapped shrimp with like sweet and spicy sauce (very good). This place is very popular during happy hour and during the summer is hard to get a spot outside on a nice day. Me and best friend have been eating here for years and every single time we eat here it's the same quality of food with each meal. We mostly come here for the margaritas (which are fantastic btw, high recommend getting the mango one) and the just having one will give that right amount of buzz! The atmosphere is very chill and the outside patio has a fireplace and is also heated on cold nights so it's a very comfortable place to hang. Also another quality to note is that the staff that they employ are actually not that bad looking, very beautiful people. The only downside I would say is that I've never had exceptional waiter/waitress service. It wasn't bad but was very basic. Nothing about it ever stood out. Overall a good restaurant to go to. The server was confused and messed up the order. There was an automatic tip of 18%, which was known to us because of the group size. Personally I'm disappointed in their service, food and even the financial aspect of the bill. They are still using QR code menus, which is very frustrating to navigate. The server seems to expect that the customer is as familiar with the food choices as they are. Without a menu, that's impossible. I've tried three of their dishes, different appetizers and cocktails. Been disappointed in flavor and authenticity each time. The clincher is that they automatically charge the customer the credit card fee. It's printed right on the bill. No other way to pay, but this seems outrageous. Just raise the price if you have to. I'm not going back to try it again. read more

I have been slowly venturing out, and have been trying to support local businesses instead of corporate chains. I was off work early today and decided to checkout El Arroyo for their happy hour. It has been years since I have been, but I know they have a good patio. First off, their happy hour margaritas were $3 today. That sounded like an excellent deal, but it is all cheap sweet and sour mix. Heartburn in a glass. We opted for a higher end margarita, which was tasty. The waitress was friendly and accommodating, but NONE of the servers or bar tenders were wearing masks. I saw some food runners with them, but NO servers. We got there early and the patio was pretty empty. By the time we left, there was no 75% capacity cap, they were filling up that patio. It made us uncomfortable and we had to split. ALL of the tables around us were seated. While we were there, a manager was moving around tables closer to us. A family was sat with their back right up against us. I understand restaurants have been hit hard by the pandemic, but their lack of regulation affects how comfortable I feel coming here in the future. The patio was nice, the service was great, but for right now I feel better visiting somewhere that is mindful of their capacity. read more

Patio, music, service, drinks...all are great. But the food, not so much. The presentation of all dishes is very sloppy and the flavors are more like the ones of a coffee shop at a gas station. I had my 1st drink within 5 minutes and my fajita nachos within 15 minutes. The nachos were portioned just right with lots of guacamole and sour cream on the side. The tortilla soup is delicious as well. I was able to munch on my nachos in between my 3 margaritas. This was a great choice for a Monday afternoon. The ONLY reason I gave 1 star is because the margarita was pretty good. I went to the bar expecting great service, and boy was I fooled! It took 15 minutes to get chips and salsa only after the couple that came in 10 minutes after I got there received their chips and salsa after I asked more than 3 times. Asked for a menu 3 times, and then decided I wasn't going to spend any more money there. So I asked for the check. Total was $3.24 and gave the bartender (long braids), never introduced herself, a $20 bill and she brought me back $16. So it was an assumed tip of $.76!! I owned and ran restaurants for over 25 years and always made sure the servers and bartenders always give the guest their change, or at least in the guest's favor. I will never return, and will tell all of my friends and family not to go there. So you tell me. I let the waiter feel and he agreed. He said he would get another and he did really quick. Too quick in fact. It's like they put them in the microwave. I attempted to eat them but, they tasted as if fried in old grease. My husband ordered the taco plate and it was like Taco Bell tacos. I would even care to say TB's is way better. I got the Shrimp Diablo it was ok it could've been better if it was in fact STUFFED JALAPENO JUMBO SHRIMP and not stuffed sliced jalapeno little shrimp. Its not worth 10.49. Now, what upset me the most was I forgot to check in and I could've got the FREE Shrimp Diablo now that would've been great!
