We were in the Mansfield area after an appointment, and it was dinner time. TexMex sounded good so we headed to Mexican Inn Cafe never lets us down. Bring on the margaritas and those addictive "Frito" style chips. Lovem, love, love them! It was a bit early before the dinner run. We were seated immediately. Just like magic, a hot basket of chips and salsa appeared at our table. OH YUMMY The chips were nice and hot. The restaurant was quiet. I love the decor of this location. Shortly, we were greeted by Bre, our server for the evening. She was delightful and so friendly. We ordered two frozen margaritas. She asked is we wanted and appetizer. I smiled and pointed to the chips; that's my appetizer! In a flash Bre was back at our table with our frozen margaritas. My wife decided on the "Pick Two, "a crispy beef taco and a guacamole chalupa. I decided on a new entree the Birria Quesadilla Tacos. I've had birria tacos elsewhere. They're so good but SO messy to eat. Both of our platters came with rice and beans. My wife and I had a great time people watching and making up our very own stories about them. We have a lot of fun doing that while we're out. Here's come Bre with our two platters! Yumminess and deliciousness can't be very far off. Both of our entrees were delicious. Everything we've come to expect when dining at one of the Mexican Inn Cafe locations. Yep, my birria tacos were a whole lot of fun and messy to eat. But they were delicious. Bre took excellent care of us while we were there. We'll see all again soon. read more

The corn chips along with the tortilla chips with salsa is an incredibly unique and delicious touch - the specialty drinks are very good - the entrees are simply average in a mexican restaurant heavy area - those corn chips save the experience and make you think twice about going elsewhere read more

Our waiter was quick and helpful with suggestions. Wish we listen to him on the guacamole over the thin greasey queso. I liked the combination of fritos and corn chips. Nothing special about the salsa, it had a good heat level, but pretty much a can of pureed tomatoes. Sweet tea was good and right amout of sweet. Our meals came out extremely hot. I really enjoyed the charro beans and rice the best. Rest of the meal was just their to pick at. That's what I did, I piked at the enchilada verity on the dinner plate. Really disappointed in the sourcream enchilada, been sitting in some kind of heater so long all the sourcream was dryed up. i thought overall it was very bland for mexican food. Had a late lunch here on a Sunday afternoon, we were surprised that they weren't that busy. I feel like Mexican Inn is a go to in Mansfield. The biggest kudos of all goes to their staff. From the hostess, to the guy who brought our chips, our waitress, then the girl brought our food... each person was so friendly & attentive. If I owned a restaurant I'd want people like them to work there. The chips (both kinds) were just really greasy. Don't get me wrong, we still ate them & it wasn't all of them but I'd say a third or half of them you could see the oil glisten on the chip. My friend had also ordered a pick three combo, they got her enchiladas wrong (requested two chicken, one cheese - got all chicken) & we were starving so she dealt with it. Mistakes happen, it was still good though. I couldn't decide what to get so I had the sampler. The beef quesadillas I liked the best - great portion of beef inside of it with tender meat. The chicken flautas were good too... but again, very greasy. Nachoes were so-so, topped generously & that was appreciated! We also had fresh corn tortillas with butter that came out before the meal, don't pass on these. I'll still come back but I do hope they can cut down on the grease a bit! read more

We ordered a margarita and a Strawberry Colada - BUG and yummy! There are 2 types of chips: tortilla and then ones that only they make - kinda like Fritos but lighter. Loved them! We ordered the combo fajitas and was easily able to share them. We moved to the Kennedale area about four months ago and have been looking to replace our Mexican North Dallas area. First time here. Warm welcome. Seated quickly. Booth and table were clean. Bryana was our server and she was awesome! Very friendly and attentive. She recommended the queso blanco, brisket tacos and brisket enchiladas. The queso, enchiladas, and rice were delicious. Refried beans were runny and tasteless. The food is awesome. The chips and salsa are unlike any other place. So light and crispy, I could make a meal of them. And the sweet tea was perfect. The waitress was very attentive and the service was quick and friendly. All in all it's a great place to dine. The one thing that takes away from all stars is the choice of background music. I am old school in that when I eat at a Mexican place I like to hear Mexican music not hip hop. Guess I'll just have to remember my ear buds and iPod when dining there again. LOL read more

Service 4/10 Chicken enchiladas 6/10 (not stuffed, and tortilla hard to cut, sour cream sauce was amazing! Cheese enchiladas 6/10 exact same reason as about. Fajitas 8/10 beef tasted amazing BUT THEY ONLY PROVIDED 8 PIECES OF MEAT, I did get a good amount of onions (only 2 peppers on the whole plate) and onions tasted amazing Flour Tortillas 8/10 they were soft and tasted really good, but most had holes in them or were bent which was sad considering we were sitting next to theblady making them Salsa 3.5/10 there was a mild & hot kind served. I'm super picky on my salsas, the hot wasn't very hot, but was heavily seasoned I didn't like. The mild was ok/good, but it wasn't fresh, chunky salsa. The initial tass that hit my mouth was tomato paste. Chips 7.5/10 there was regular chips that were so salty I couldn't eat, they tasted and reminded me of Tostitos chips, yuck. Then the other half of the bucket was what looked like frito at first glance. I time them and they were definitely different, and really good! They are like a larger frito size, airy and crunchy. As you can see I got a refill of those! Lived in Mansfield 5 years and haven't ever been here until lastnight. The service was, well, not service. The waitress literally said, I'm here to take your order. When asked for more chips or drink, it took a really long time. Bryana was very rude from when we walked in, my husband being in a wheelchair she tried to put us in a booth, then when asked for a table she took us to the table and didn't remove a chair for my handicap husband to get into the table which is standard at most restaurants. We've eaten here and highly recommend it in the past but today was treated horribly. Asked for the manager Eric who came out bias towards his employee who was just talking bad about us to her fellow colleague and rolling their eyes at us. When I explained all of this to Eric he was basically laughing at the fact that I told him his employee was being disrespectful and discriminating against my husband in a wheel chair. I asked for names and corporate phone number and he basically was telling us to leave in a rude way and getting in our faces at the door. I called the number he gave and it was a wrong number. Pretty sure it was intentional. Horrible customer service and won't be back. This happened on the morning of February 19th right at open just incase he lied about the names like he did with the phone number, hopefully the owners sees this and knows how his restaurant is being ran. read more

This was a pretty decent spot for a TexMex meal. With the exception of guacamole, the prices were right. The food and drink were delicious. These five stars are tough to earn with me. But this is after visiting several times. Each time, the hosts/hostesses greeted us at the front. We were always brought chips and salsa within a minute; each time they explained about the hot and mild. The front of house management was always visible. The tex mex plates (enchiladas and such) came out hot and fast. So across four visits, the front of house staff, the servers, the bussing staff, and the kitchen were all highly consistent in their service. That's hard to do, but that means the management there is really working with the staff. If you haven't been in a while, I suggest you put them on your list. read more

Quesadillas were awful! Too much onions and hardly any cheese or meat in each piece of the quesadilla. Barely even hot. They fell apart because not enough cheese to hold them together. Just awful! Absolutely delicious food , we had the fajitas and the meat was delicious , juicy and tender. No nerve endings! It was perfect! We also had the beef nachos, queso it was soooo good! The tortilla chips are amazing! They make them fresh and the tortillas made on site! I want to go back already! I have the steak quesadillas, comes with rice and beans and they were delicious! Next time I'm gonna order the fajitas I was really impressed with how delicious they were. We received amazing customer service ! Everyone was attentive. We had our chips refilled as well as our drinks. It's under new management I believe, and the manager is doing awesome along with the employees. It's so good. We returned to Mexican Inn Cafe, for our second visit. I can say that things were better than the first time. For the positive points, the fajitas were better seasoned and the portion of each meat was better. The sour cream sauce on my wife's enchilada was flavorful and she enjoyed it. Although service was not an issue on our first go, I'd like to point out that Dillon, our server for round 2, was a peach! Normally, my wife and I prefer to joke and banter with the staff, so it's nice when they play along. I also enjoyed the "hot" salsa. Unfortunately, there are a couple of areas where Mexican Inn is still struggling. The guacamole needs some work. It is said to be made fresh, with pico, but I didn't see any. Truth be told, the guacamole seemed to be little more than smashed avocado with diced tomatoes on top. And then, there are the flour tortillas... oblong, unevenly rolled, and not fit for fajitas. Now, this was every single tortilla. Dillon offered to bring out some replacement tortillas, but the replacements were just as awkward, although one did resemble a skull, so I suppose a discussion could be had that it was kind of cool. read more
