This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. We went for breakfast which was delicious. They bread was homemade (we got sourdough that was so good we bought a loaf to take home) and the jams were also homemade so those were the highlight? I got the skillet breakfast which I really enjoyed. The building is a historic log building (tall guys have to duck other crossbeams!). The service was excellent. Great little spot in for some good food in Clinton. The interior of the restaurant is old west style with animal trophy heads on the walls. It is clean, and small, with few tables. I had the ribs special and hubby had the prime rib special. The ribs were fall off the bone good, but I wasn't crazy about the citrus flavored sauce. I prefer more of a smoky barbecue flavor. The prime rib was very good. The meals came with their salad bar. The offerings change up daily and there was a fairly good selection. The huckleberry pie a la mode was so good, and that is bringing us back to the spot tonight (also the burgers looked amazing). If you are in the area or just passing through you should stop. **We didn't have reservations on a Saturday night and they got us in, but I would recommend reservations as they were pretty booked up. read more

Found on Apple Maps/Google on our way across from Spokane to Bozeman today. Shared a BLT & Onion Rings. She even split up the plates for us! The breads are all hand made right there & we could NoT say enough about that. The bread made the BLT. The onion rings were your standard & good. We picked up a huckleberry cupcake & a slice of pie to take home. The cinnamon rolls, breads, cookies, etc in the case all looked amazing. We each ended up picking out a giant cookie for the road too! Two thumbs up here. We'd definitely stop again if given the chance! read more

I absolutely love this restaurant. I was fishing on Rock Creek and decided to try it out. It was fantastic. They give you very large portions. The first time I went I have the crispy chicken salad and it was phenomenal! For dessert, I have their famous rhubarb pie. I also bought a tray of homemade cinnamon rolls. They were the best I have ever had! Everything was delicious! I went again a couple days later for a burger and a beer. It was even better the second day!! I had to get some more cinnamon rolls too! We moved here in June and landed at Ekstrom's while we looked for a permanent residence in Missoula. Which ended up being more of a challenge than we expected. The place closed for the season on October 2nd. The owners were gracious enough to let us stay for another month while we continued our house hunt. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was peaceful and quiet, with an awesome restaurant on the premises. We would recommend this park to anyone looking for a great place to stay. read more

We had dinner here last nightI had the large salad bar which appears to be all home cooking. It maybe includes about 20 different items including soup and fruit dishes although I imagine it is different every night. My wife had a ribeye steak. She said it was large and above Average. I would give the food a 3+ or a 4-. However we enjoyed the whole experience because of the old cabin, interesting decor but mostly because Emily the waitress was really wonderful. read more

Stopped at this place for dinner on my way to Billings. Ordered a burger and side salad - I was the only one in the restaurant so my food was done in 6 minutes flat. Nice homey and very clean environment. My server was a nice young gal. Burger was pretty big and had a nice fresh bun. Salad was crisp. Don't usually order dessert but broke in and got the bread pudding - quite delicious. Had a great time cooling down there and would go again in a heartbeat. read more

Oh, man, we LOVED this place. The campground was right next to a fly fishing stream, and adjacent to a very cool mercantile shop and rustic main building. The restaurant was superb: huge portions of excellent food, and great beer on tap. The folks there were incredibly nice and friendly, and made sure we were well fed and happy with our experience there. An excellent value, too. Go, you'll love it! read more

I have been going to Ekstrom's for over 25 years, and continue to enjoy its rustic feeling and excellent dinner meals. I especially enjoy their honey cured smoked pork chop, and their rib eye steak. The salad bar is excellent as well with the majority of the salad selections being homemade. The homemade desserts are great as well. Called & made reservation. Arrived to find no one staying there. It was after hours but no instructions. The ground was soft muddy grass and I almost got stuck. Very unlevel site. Eckstrom's has truly excellent food in a wonderful setting that the founder created by moving several old buildings and cabins to the site. The restaurant itself is in a pioneer-era barn. The food is all house made, including the bread and desserts. The salad bar is amazing with really good slaw, bean salad, etc., soup, bread, and dessert salads. You can order this as dinner and it would be excellent. We ordered the special prime rib and it was done perfectly with excellent flavor. The pie was really good too. The breakfast is also excellent. The corn beef hash and sausage is really good. The sausage gravy was probably the best I've ever had anywhere. If we lived here i'd probably gain 20 pounds. read more

Stayed at the Rv park and also ate at the restaurant. The Rv park is a little dated, but comfortable. Fairly easy to maneuver with a large rig. Very accommodating and friendly...even as busy as they are. Had some issues with the pedestal with the electric on our first sight but they moved us to another spot. Not 50 amp(30), and no sewer hook, but it works. There is a place to dump on the way out...so no big deal. They even let me borrow a hose to wash my rig. THANK YOU! Ate at the restaurant also. My wife had pasta and salad bar. Salad bar is very fresh with some awesome homemade items you don't normally see in a salad bar. Her pasta was fresh and also homemade. I had the BBQ pork ribs. Little sweet for my taste, but very good just the same. Prices were reasonable and service was great. Can't wait to eat here again! read more

Realize it was the end of the season, but we were soon disappointed by the rude staff, lack of service, and old food. As soon as we arrived and they had 'lost' out reservations (made a month in advance) we should have realized the place had changed. 2 staff people argued that we had no reservations! After finally finding us a site, in a nearly empty campground, we were told we should make reservations to eat. The dining room was empty! She finally offered us a table and left us sitting there, waiting for menus. Another group came in and requested a window table to which the waitress said sorry, we reserve those for groups of 3. (They only had 2). It was 4pm and we were the only 2 couples there! She finally agreed to let them sit there, after much discussion. She brought us a menu and left us again,without asking for a drink order. I could go on and on...it was ridiculous! When we finally got our food, it was old meat that tasted like it had been reheated several times. Needless to say she never once came back to check on us and we will never go back! Incredible breakfast! We stopped on a road trip and were more than satisfied. I got thick cut cinnamon raisin French toast with sausage and my husband got biscuits and gravy with eggs, hash browns and a side of sausage. Both garnished with a spiraled orange slice and parsley. Our 1 yr old got an incredibly fresh fruit cup. Authentic western environment and the staff was awesome as well. I think everything in our breakfast was made from scratch because they sell a bunch of delicious looking baked goods at the front too! There was fresh jam on the table and even the sausage links had a unique and delicious flavor. Only downside is that they did not serve pure maple syrup which is hard to find at any restaurant in my experience, so thank goodness I finally remembered to bring our own this time! Note that I did not ask for pure maple, so it's possible that they do serve it upon request. I wish the conjoined RV Park had come up on my map search the night before. Looked like it would have been a great place to stay. Very wooded and smelled of pine! read more

I heard glowing compliments for Eckstrom's Trout Breakfast, so I decided to try it. I feel that certain restaurants build their rep on certain things and that is what you go there for. I had a very nice experience here. The setting in the Valley is spectacular. The 'lodge' decor was a throwback to a bygone era; I can't quite say it was refreshing ; but it certainly was delightful to behold the badger on the wall. The Trout came nicely panfried butterflied together with fresh bread eggs and I ordered a side of Side pork as well. Everything tasted so good I ignored my eggs. Side Pork crispy like bacon but not so salty.. What a great thing! The trout so fresh... delicious. I think this is a must everytime I visit Missoula. The fruit preserves good too. I bought a jar of the sweet watermelon pickles on the way out. Love them.. A little sweet .. But what a crispy treat. read more

Granted, we only had burgers, beer and salad, but they were perfect. So was the decor. Local beer on tap and homwmade huckleberry pie. I had the German pot roast special which had a ginger accent and potato pancakes with scallion. Not your typical pot roast. Dinner comes with a nice salad bar of home made pasta, green and fruit salads and home made soup. Today was an excellent split pea soup. Friendly staff even though I walked in 10 minutes before closing. Nice place after a day on the river. read more

Went here for a couple Mother's Day buffets.food and drink were fine.because of the places size,there is a small waiting time.the inside resembles a hunting cabin with antiques and I believe there is camping nearby.the restaurant is seasonal.so it's not open during winter.the drive is about 15-20 minutes east of Missoula.its all good though. read more

Probably one of the best breakfasts of my life. Had the steak and eggs; everything was cooked perfectly and tasted like home. View was looking out over a meadow with pine trees and horses; very tranquil. Made this stop as we were headed out of Missoula and it was a nice ending to our summer vacation. We were hoping for a slice of that Huckleberry Pie, but they were out. Cook was rolling out the dough for more pies as we left. Stopped in at Ekstrom's today to avoid Missoula traffic! What a pleasant surprise! It was only about 3/4 of a mile off the interstate in a 150 year old converted stage building! The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. We walked down to the creek while we waited for our food, and the kids checked out the wagon and tepees! My husband and I visited this establishment 24 years ago, he had been there before. We had a wonderful time there, went horse`back riding up into the hills, it was marvelous scenery!
