She checked up, smiled and had conversations with all the other tables around us but for us? She got our drink order and meal then basically forgot about us. Mind you theres 3 tables in the house. If you are ever in Stevensville, MT, this is a must. We went here on our trip with recommendations from friends and WOW! Everything was absolutely perfect, presentation, flavor and service were excellent. The meat & cheese plate was absolutely delicious, great parings. I order my ribeye rare with mushrooms and it was cooked perfectly. When out this way, Huckleberry anything is what I usually go for, but the Huckleberry cheesecake is to die fir. Cucumber I literally picked it up and drank it with my hands because the spoon was simply not getting it into my mouth quick enough. My mom would be appalled. Best restaurant in Stevensville,MT or so the locals say. Tried it out with five other friends and totally agree. Filet was perfect with good flavor, bacon wrapped which you don't find now a day. Lamb was delicious and adequate portion. Female friends ordered the Halibut and raved about it. I snuck a piece and it was cooked to perfection. Wine list surprised me a little as it was quit extensive with varied wines from around the globe. Dessert was delicious and highly recommended. Even the coffee was above my expectation. We heard a lot about the Mission Bistro and made it a point to go to dinner with friends there. The food was pretty good but, in my opinion, not up to the hype we had heard. It's not that the food wasn't good, we've just had better for the price point. I do want to go back and try the Sunday brunch as we have heard it's amazing. For our dinner, I had a filet mignon and French onion soup. I was surprised that that cut of meat wasn't more flavorful. The onion soup was average but not great. Family gathering vibe, no need to dress upscale, but you wouldn't be out of place if you did. If you want fancy fancy, go to Missoula, but it's probably not worth the drive or extra expense. The prices aren't cheap, but definitely reasonable, especially for the quality of meal. Seasonable menu changes are also a plus. Call ahead to make a reservation, it gets busy. We wanted to celebrate a special occasion with our family, and ordered out from Mission Bistro, our go to place in western Montana. The meal was presented beautifully, which is quite a feat when it is being delivered in cardboard containers .Every dish , from appetizer to dessert, resounded with unusual flavors and textures. We spend most of our meals cooking for ourselves, and try to do a competent job of it, but all of us were bowled over with the quality and the experience. My wife and myself went to Mission Bistro last Friday night. There was not an empty table which is always a positive first impression for me. Our server was terrific...very attentive and friendly. We both ordered soup for starters......I had their French Onion Soup which was probably the most favorable one that I have ever had. My wife had their squash soup and only gave it an average rating. Not a deal breaker though. She said it was a little bland. For the main course I had Rib Eye and my wife ordered the Filet. Both prepared perfectly, and tasted terrific. I noted in some of the reviews that some indicated that the service was slow, and I would agree, but I believe it was for the right reason(s). One has to wait longer when a meal is made individually from scratch and not all of it is prepared beforehand. Prices were reasonable. Definitely will be back and can easily recommend. read more

I'm visiting my mother in law in Stevensville and she says this is the best place in the Bitterroot Valley. Now I'm living in the Bay Area. I grew up in NYC. I'm your typical coastal elitist. So I think to myself, this'll likely be decent, nothing special. How wrong I was. I am beyond impressed with every element of this restaurant. I could go on about the space, the decor, the service, the beautiful plates, the care with which these women hustle. Instead I'll just talk about the food. Succulent crab cakes. Mussels in a harissa and cream sauce so delicious I just picked the bowl up and drank it. Lamb chops in mint chimichurri that wouldn't be out of place in Bon Appetit. Fish moist and delicate yet grilled with an impeccable char. Flourless chocolate cake that the French Laundry would be honored to serve. If you are lucky enough to live close by, come as often as you can. If you're out of town, make the trip, and enjoy. read more

Many great reviews! Most of them say the same thing... good atmosphere, food, service -- all true. Absolutely lovely wait staff! We had a party of eight, so it was hard to hear everyone talk during dinner because we were in the middle of the room. We did wait 15 minutes to place our orders, and dinner entrees took 20-25 minutes after salad, but they had a 75% full dining room! I can't imagine what they're like on the weekend. I would definitely come back :) Here's some specifics from our dinner: We had Caesar salad w anchovies (they ask you if you want anchovies. if you don't want them, you can skip them!) the Caesar salad was good, light, little dressing. If you like thick dressing, this isn't the one for you. The red chard & goat cheese was delicious! One salad is enough to share w two. Oh! My friends got the cucumber soup-- they loved it! I wish I tried it, looked delicious. Also, they served us smoked salmon on goat cheese as an appetizer. That was delicious!!! Entrees.... I got the special (sole, rice & beets) very delicious! Sole was topped with fresh fennel, roasted tomatoes and garlic. Fish was slightly over cooked, but the topping was delicious! My dad got the duck w polenta & carrots, can't go wrong with this one... duck was cooked perfectly (not dry, but could have use some more seasoning or a sauce). The polenta was good!! Grainy and thick slices. Generous (~1/2 cup) portion of both sides. A few others at our table got the filet... they all finished their plates! We were all very happy with the meals! Compliments to the chef and servers!! Dessert... have to recommend the cheesecake or flourless torte. Both was outstanding! Creme Brûlée crust was a slightly burnt, but was still delicious.
