These folks catered a reception for our family about 5 years ago, they did a fantastic job. Lately we have lost confidence in their BBQ. Stopped in last month, the brisket was cold and chewy. Stopped yesterday, ask if the brisket was hot, they assured us it was. Again, three stips of cold hard brisket, very disappointed and probably will not be back for a while. Just as I was pulling into the parking lot of this place, a commercial for it came on the radio. The timing on that was notable. I have been to Moose Creek many times. This is a family affair and small business. The owner or his wife is usually out front, and their son (I think) is in the back making plates. Prices have gone up here the same as everywhere else. 2 months ago, I purchased an amazing half pound of brisket for 13.00 - today it was 16.50, and my root beer was 3.00. After a tip, it was just under 25.00 for 1 person. Sadly, it wasn't worth it. The brisket this time was super dry - like it was overcooked 2 days ago and reheated in a microwave level of dry. I hadn't experienced that here before, but I needed extra sauce to make it palatable, which was unfortunate and irritating. I sat pondering if raising prices and lowering quality is a common theme more recently - that was the case here today. One thing I do love about this place is that the BBQ sauce is outstanding! I previously purchased jars of it to go. I like to support small mom and pop places and realize negative reviews sometimes have unfortunate consequences for owners. I dont like to leave bad reviews unless my experience is truly awful. Today was pretty bad, but my previous visits were mostly good. The bottom line here: Value is not on the menu at all. It's expensive. If I pay you well for food (or anything else), I want to get what I pay for and no less. I got less today. For now, I have mixed feelings on Moose Creek BBQ. You should be prepared to open your wallet when you visit here... the recent 20% increase in prices makes eating here a bit unreasonable even considering inflation - especially if one has to be prepared to roll the dice on a potentially negative dining experience. One thing that is not a miss here: The BBQ Sauce is a 10/10. Overall, though, it was a dry, bland experience for me today. read more

I still enjoy Moose Creek BBQ for the pulled pork but sadly, I don't think the ribs are as good as they used to be. I could be wrong but the texture of the meat has changed. I think they may be par-boiling their ribs now to reduce the overall cooking time. There is nothing wrong with par-boiling but it does change the texture and the overall flavor of the meat. The result is that while it's still a good rib, it's no longer a Kansas City-style rib. Now maybe they aren't parboiling but something has definitely changed because I have noticed it the last 3 times we've eaten there. The pulled pork is still great and I love the sweet bbq sauce they make. read more

Usually the service is good & friendly. Tonight I called to place an order, I asked what sides they have and the girl said "lots, we have a lot of sides" so I just said fries for both orders because she came off as very rude, lazy, and not helpful at all. I asked if I could add a side of cheese sauce and she said no, she doesn't know how to charge for it. When I got my orders home there were onions on mine which I had asked for no onions. We really like the food here but if this is the kind of service we are going to start receiving then we won't come here anymore. Fabulous barbecue. I got the brisket lunch special with Carolina slaw - it was soooo good. Brisket was tender and flavorful and so many good sauces I couldn't decide which I liked best. Smoked meats. For me it is a matter of taste and style. My wife and I do not care for smoked meats, but many do; so it your preference is richly smoked turkey, chicken, sausage, beef brisket and baby backed, short and rib ends this is your place. The menu offers sandwiches, plates and a whole section on serious catering, like for 100s of people down to family packages. Portions are HUGE. I ordered a two meat plate with potato salad and fried okra and three of us could have had trouble eating it all. Very generous. Prices appear a bit high, but are reasonable considering the portions. The stuffed pork loin with sausage was not pork loin wrapped around three sausages, rather than ground sausage rolled into it, which would have been more moist and flavorful than the dry relatively flavorless (other than the smoke). Pulled pork was excellent. Beef brisket was tender, but was just smoked meat. More time in the smoker and you would have had jerky. We begged a pork rib and it was also dry, smoked and had a nice rub on it. This not a fall off the bone kind of rib place. They offer 5 sauces, ranking from sweet to hot and including a mustard and a thin, but excellent hot sauce. I would prefer a moister meat, like Memphis or Kansas City style; however, if you like a good smoking, come to Moose Creek. read more

Had high hopes for this place in their new location. Unfortunately this is " cafeteria" barbecue. They claim four hours smoking time for the ribs. But there is no evidence of it. No smoky taste, and is anybody who's ever barbecued before, no smoke ring in the ribs. If you're looking for basic cafeteria barbecue you'll be happy. Especially with all the bright white fluorescent lights throughout. Was hoping for a lot more. This place delivered a lot less. read more

Baked beans were assorted beans that were sweet and filling. Mac and cheese tasted a bit old. Corn bread and honey butter were great! Good food, just can't believe they ran out of some basics. Finally, the menu on the website is outdated. Only 1 side with each order and prices have gone up. Loved all of the wide variety of sauces on the tables. Fun to try lots of different styles with one meal. And the best sign is that the meats were good enough without any sauce at all! BBQ beans were terrific and the vinegar-based slaw was great. My only complaint was that the cornbread was griddled (and ended up a tad black) and I would've liked it a lot more just warmed up.
