Maria's is a wonderfully small family run business. The menu is limited but they do right by everything they serve. The food is always fresh, flavorful and nicely portioned. It's a small place so I wouldn't take a large group there. There is also a very large stairway, perhaps 20+ stairs) to get up to it. First time visit, nice small family run business, the complementary chips and salsa were very good. Chips were warm.. Our Chile Colorado was tasty and portions were good-sized. I grew up in Missoula but I lived in Southern California for a couple of years when I was in my 30's. I had no idea that the Mexican food I had grew up with in Montana was terrible until I tried street tacos and burritos at one of the many local taquerias in Los Angeles. When I moved back to Montana I was super bummed because nothing even compares. However, I had a Carne Asada Jordan Burrito from Maria's yesterday and it was like a time warp back to the Cactus Taqueria in LA. It might even be better! The burritos at Maria's are a perfect 10/10! The carne asada is another perfect 10! The rice, the beans, the tortilla perfect 10! Even the spicy red hot sauce took me back! Although the location is up a flight of stairs I've heard they will bring food down to you if you order to go. The atmosphere and ambience is very pleasant and the service was friendly and quick! They should really open a second location. Their menu is perfect for a taqueria type of Mexican restaurant where food is ordered at the counter and more ideal for "to go" or "quick bite" rather than a sit down place with a server. Hamilton really needs something like this too. They'd put Taco Del Sol out of business. Heck, I could see a whole chain of Maria's Taquerias taking over all of Western Montana. I digress but a quick side note, Hamilton could also use a Noodle Express. read more

The food smells good, but there is no access for a disabled person to eat here. This business is in violation of the ADA and offers no accommodation for disabled people to eat. I will be reporting this issue to the proper authorities for remedy to the lawlessness of this business. read more

Ate here for the first time this week. I had a simple set as k taco salad that was so much better than other restaurants. The person I was with had chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. I'm going to try that next because it works so good. The service was attentive and very good. My only complaint is the stairs to get to the restaurant. I have a bit of a walking problem. read more

I orderedPazole soup and the pork was exceptionally fatty and had to spit most of it out honestly.. Great atmosphere and service. Guacamole was good. I would have given a couple of stars but my family liked their food. I however did not. I don't salt my food and the chicken on my salad was super salty but I ate it because I was hungry. My wife and I are originally from Indio California we grew up on real Mexican food. I'm happy they don't sell Burgers here they do that it's not a real Mexican food place it's an insult to the culture. Excellent Mexican Restaurant This is a relatively new restaurant which is a welcomed addition to downtown Hamilton. Located on the second floor of a historic building it overlooks Main Street. It is small in size, yet very quaint in ambiance. It is operated by a husband and wife team, she at the front end, he in the kitchen. The menu selection is limited, primarily tacos and burritos, however, the food is OUTSTANDING! All fresh ingredients, prepared and cooked when ordered. A variety of salsas, from mild to hot, are also offered with every dish. Only drawback is they do not have a liquor/beer license, so water and soft drinks are all that is available to drink. Not a deal breaker though. The food is well worth it. Will definitely be making this a regular eating destination. read more

We love this place! The young waiter who I'm assuming is the owners son is very polite and quick to take care of anything you need. The gravy boat fries are absolutely fantastic. Our food was ready in record time. The street tacos are pretty awesome as well. The coolest part was the "pay it forward" wall with prepaid tickets available for those in need. This is a very nice, clean place with very good, fresh Mexican food at a reasonable price. They do not have beer or wine. The owners give free food to kids for lunch during the summer, they have a book bag drive in the late summer, and serve free holiday meals to the community. I'm visiting Hamilton from San Diego and was told by several people that Maria's has great Mexican food. Obviously being from San Diego, I'm always a little skeptical whenever I hear "great Mexican food" outside of Southern California, but they were right - Maria's is the best Mexican food (outside of SoCal) I've ever had - and I take my burritos very seriously!! Their "Martin"(?) burrito is what I know as a "California burrito", and their sauces are great! (Especially the avocado salsa! ) Not only was the food great, but the service made us happy to be there. They really care about and appreciate their guests, which leads me to mention another awesome show of Maria's kindness - their "pay it forward" wall. It allows a guests to purchase a prepaid meal(s), and then their meal ticket is put on a wall. If someone comes in and they're hungry (or know of someone that is hungry) they just take one of the MANY tickets (with a variety of choices) and cash it in for a free meal. This not only speaks volumes of Maria's kindness to create this wall, but the large amount of tickets that are on this wall also speaks volumes regarding the kindness of the Hamilton people.
