Tho was a cute little stop and the food was good. My husband's sausage omelet was more of a large mass of sausage wrapped in a thin egg tortilla. Tasted good but not the experience he predicted. My eggs and such were delish and the pancakes were GINORMOUS! Good coffee. Pleasant server. read more

Portion sizes are large, the side order of 2 pancakes could feed all 3 of my kiddos! The kitchen was short staffed though so we waited a while for food that came out lukewarm at best. I liked the no extra charge for substituting sweet potato fries for crinkle cut. The kids loved the quarter bubble gum or bouncy ball machine. With no other options other than gas station hot dogs or a McDonald's 20 miles away worth stopping if you are hungry between Missoula and Kalispell. read more

It's places like this I'm scared to review, because once others find it we'll never find seats again. This is a great classic diner with that old-school counter vibe. Family run, and the owners were super friendly. They just took over from their mom who passed away, and it's been in their family for over twenty years. Highly recommend "the breakfast" option if you're looking for a hearty meal. Stack of massive pancakes (added blueberry), and quoting Ron Swanson it included "all the bacon and eggs" they had. I've been coming here since I was around 8 years old. The look inside is classic and nostalgic. Everyone is always friendly, attends to you quickly, and there's always a buzz. We were hungry after a long drive on the National Bison Range and on our way to see the St Ignatius Mission, when we passed by the Old Timers Cafe and decided to get a late lunch. Best meal we have had in Montana so far, and we have been here traveling around for 2 weeks. We were burger'd out, so hubby ordered the taco salad, and I ordered the turkey bacon guacamole wrap. Mine came with buffalo chips, and they defied the imagination. The food was really good, but those buffalo chips (house made potato slices) were to die for. Worth a trip just to get them. The inside of the cafe is quaint. filled with locals, and clean. Service was slow, but our waitress was at the end of her shift, and was friendly. Food was prompt. Never have I been compelled to compliment the cook, but I managed to catch her eye to let her know how great our meal was. Especially those chips. Go get some. read more

I'm pretty disgusted. My boyfriend and I come in regularly for lunch and this time basically makes me want to not even come back. The whole place was empty besides us eating and the ENTIRE time we ate, the guy who owns the place sat on the counter talking with his friend about god and Mormonism and how there's one true god. It was obvious that he wanted us to hear him because of how loud he was. I am not a religious person per say, but this is down right inappropriate for an establishment to be talking about in front of customers. We could even enjoy our meal without listening to him preach from the fricken counter top. We paid early and boxed up our food to go because it was giving me such bad anxiety. I broke out in cold sweats and my chest got super heavy which meant I was going to have a panic attack. I'm not coming back. Food was ok. read more

Husband ordered a 16 ounce bone in rib eye steak, got a 1/2 inch slice of of a prime rib roast grilled and not 16 ounces. It was good but overdone. Also got some attitude from the cook who delivered it and wanted to know what I had ordered, which was a salad and loaded baked potato. I was told not to go here anymore; I didn't believe it. I ... you ripped me off on the bill. After not being able to get an order right, with me POINTING AT YOUR MENU AND REPEATING "French toast, eggs, bacon" over and over. I was intent on being nice to a possibly new waitress, and your staff was nice about trying to correct the wrong order, and then I didn't realize the bill was off until I got in the car and thought about it on my way down the road. 2 French toast breakfasts, $11.50 each, and the bill was $28.50. Giving someone an opportunity to learn is one thing; ripping people off is another entirely. I won't be back. Maybe she'd be better washing dishes to learn the ropes. read more

Wow! YELP led us to another great place to eat! Tired and wet from a cold rainy day at Glacier National Park we wanted to find a local restaurant with home-cooked meals close to our route. Old Timer Cafe hit the spot. Everything is homemade and we had more than ample quantities. I wanted something with GRAVY and ordered the roast beef open face sandwich with mashed potatoes. This café is a tradition with my family, my parents, aunts and uncles started coming here in the 1990's, and the tradition lives on with me, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beyond the sentimentality, the Old Timer Cafe can stand on its own, with exceptional service, good food, and endless coffee. We camp on Flathead Lake and always schedule a drive to St. Ignatius to have breakfast. We are a big crowd, sometimes 15 or more, and the Old Timer Cafe has always found room for us. The cousins love to order the Cow Patty, and this year a couple of the great-grandchildren ordered a cinnamon roll, you should have seen their eyes! read more
