This is the place where the locals eat and it is the best place to eat if you are in the area. We travel to this area of Montana usually twice a year and we always eat here even when we are closer to another restaurant. It's still open!!! This was a relic from my childhood on trips to Glacier National Park. It's not the most upscale so don't set your expectations there. Think classic diner with Bison meat available. They expanded the menu to have breakfast now too. It's been relatively unchanged in 30 years and is a little dated. The service is all done by the owner(cook) and his niece(server/everything else) so it can take a little time but they are doing what they can. Huckleberry shakes are still a must! read more

Wow! What a perfect place. My wife and I have been coming for years and I haven't remembered to review yet. This business is very much open unlike other out of staters and non locals have mentioned on Yelp. The inside decor is dated, which I think adds to the overall experience. The food portions are LARGE and hearty. This is definitely a down home country diner where all the locals know each other. The prices are right on par with what id expect to pay. Make sure to get something related to bison! I like the Bison Breakfast with huckleberry pancakes. Cash only joint folks, but there is an ATM inside. read more

If you make it out this far off the beaten track, you HAVE to have a bison burger. It is a very lean, tasty meat. I almost never eat meat, but I LOVED bison. We even bought the bison jerky they had for sale for the rest of the road trip to the National Bison Range. The cafe is pleasant, comfortable, clean, and great wifi. Nothing was new, shiney, or artistic. It was a genuine burger and shake place in a town with next to no one living there. The local paper is a hoot. Not your father's chain restaurant. With worn paint, tired cushions and welcoming staff, enough unique character here to have its own HBO mini-series. Sure, we could have had breakfast in Missoula, but what better way to enjoy breakfast than working up an appetite. We were motorcyclists looking for a warm meal and a break from the summer Montana fires. Walked in wearing full leather and were made to feel right at home with sheriff deputies at the next table (lesson one - if law enforcement eats there, stop there). I can't say much about anything other than the Chicken Fried Steak. The one they make here is well worth the price. Handmade from scratch with homemade gravy that is pretty dam good. I think over the years I've had everything on the menu. Its all good. I bring out of state company here because it looks like a dive but serves excellent food. If you've never had bison meat, by all means order a burger. The open secret is that you can order any burger on the menu to be made with bison meat. On Friday, be sure to order clam chowder. Owner George Hansbrough makes it special, and it's the best I've ever had away from the Coast. But for a real treat, order the Indian Taco. My absolute favorite. If you go away hungry, it's your own fault. The huckleberry shakes are great too, if your diet allows. If not, cheat this one time. read more

For vegetarian cyclists - the owner is accommodating and served the biggest grilled cheese sandwich ever, but what was a real surprise was the freshly made, real soda fountain type milk shakes. The favorite flavor is huckleberry. Go ahead and laugh, but if you've ever tasted wild huckleberries, you know they're special. They are the truffles of berries - wild, seasonal, limited, wonderful.
