If I could uproot this place and transport it back to California with me I would! Little gems like "The Malt Shop" are a dying breed. If you walk in here expecting a fine dining experience please turn around and drive a few hundred miles till you find one. What you will get here is classic all American dinner cuisine that warns your soul and sticks to your ribs. I have a couple of diners where I live and I thought that they were ok but now after visiting here I can truly see that I was horribly mistaken. The Malt Shop feels like you're on Route 66 stopping for a quick bite and a shake before continuing on your trip. Had a cheese burger (sadly forgot the name) that came with a fried egg(what is already not to love) and added bacon by recommendation.... It's classic flavors! Can't beat a simple tasty burger. We additionally had the fried mushrooms (well done and not greasy at all as I've had at other locations), a family order of tots (yes to family size!) and the Huckleberry Mini Cones. They additionally have salads, a slew of ice cream/shakes, and other items you would see at a dinner like tacos and such. The decor is classic Americana with elements of Route 66, "I Love Lucy", and other classics. A small arcade in the back that sadly had a few of the games out of order but was not what I was there for. After having our ice cream we sat on the benches out front as they closed up and we're greeted by what I would have to say was the pest control manager. An adorable black cat that was beyond affectionate and had no problems getting on your lap and enjoying being pet by you. If you're traveling in Montana and happen to be passing by it would foolish of you not to stop and enjoy.

A must stop on our way back to Missoula. I had a perfect huckleberry shake. It was worth the calories that were packed into a small. Look this place up. As you arrive, it looks like a wild Wild West scene and " The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" theme immediately cues up in your head.

    A trip back in time.

A trip back in time... Friendly service... Cheap prices... Ultra small town feel. Love this place. I got a cheeseburger a pepsi and a malt cost about 10 bucks. Ive been spending lots of time in big cities this is the opposite. Love it. Highly recommended!!!

This is the best burger joint in Montana!!!!!
