If you give the order to the wrong customer, be more accommodating to the customer who is still waiting. I visited the Einstein Bros. Bagels drive-thru on Friday, November 15th, at 5:35 AM and ordered a half dozen signature egg sandwiches for a birthday celebration. The employee was confused and asked if I wanted six sandwiches. I clarified and showed the app photo. He confirmed they could make it, and I was charged $54.87 without a receipt. When I got home, I found the sandwiches were not the signature ones I ordered but classic options (bacon & cheddar, turkey sausage, ham & Swiss). These were of lower value and not what I requested. The app shows half a dozen classic sandwiches at $41.39 and signature at $50.69--I was overcharged and given the wrong items. I couldn't return since we were celebrating. I think they don't change out their gloves enough. Uninterested in taking customer orders, more interested in socializing with staff member. Taking order incorrectly at register& reading incorrect totals. Not inquiring about rewards status. The same towel is used to wipe the knife down after cutting into a bagel sandwich that she's using to wipe down the food line. If they're cross contaminating with this I can't imagine what else. Had a bit of a wait because the order taker was deeply engrossed in taping a to go bag shut... she told me "I'll be right with you" a couple of times. Finally, took my order. I saw 1 Everything Bagel left behind glass. Ordered it toasted with garden veggie cream cheese and a coffee with Equal. While I was sitting waiting, the woman who took my order came to my table and said they were out of Everything bagels. I knew I saw 1 in there but just ordered a sesame bagel. 4-5 minutes later a guy came and handed me a bag with the bagel in it. I asked about the cream cheese and coffee. He went back behind the counter and asked a couple of other employees about it. Soon, another woman came to me with a coffee saying she put 2 sweeteners in it. A few minutes after THAT the young man came back with a small container of cream cheese. I opened the bagel and found out they put the cheese on it already. I don't think it was toasted either. Where do I start.. first I probably should have just went to McDonald's . However I wanted something different and hearty. I opted for the Turkey sausage cheddar cheese. First off I'm there at about 7:30 so for sure the food should be hot . This was not so. My sandwhich was definitely cold. I can tell it was microwaved. It was cut in half so I was able to start at the center .. COLD! You could tell from the cheese it was only warmed up. I feel they could have at least made it hot. Dave your coins people ! I paid 6.00 for a cold breakfast sandwhich. I'm gonna say this again.. people stop at these places to experience good hot food in exchange for our hard earned money. AT LEAST MAKE IT FRESH. So many varieties of both bagels and the shmear that the possibilities are endless. Bagels are always so fresh and have just the right amount of chewyness while still remaining soft and fluffy. They also have a nice coffee selection, healthy and naughty breakfast selections, and ice cold fountain drinks. I would have given 5 stars for this location, but today they got my order wrong and I didn't realize it until I was driving away. For that, I'm taking a star. Sat there for about 20 minutes until car in front moved. Ordered 2 items. Young man taking order seemed new or extremely confused. Repeated our item 3-4 times and finally drove up. Having lived in the NYC-area for over a decade now, I guess my expectations of a bagel place have risen dramatically over that period of time so I'm going to temper my review and give Einstein Bros a little break. That's because I do the same when I check out a BBQ joint in the NYC-area after having enjoyed (way too) many BBQ joints from having spent most of my life in the GREAT state of Texas. First off, kudos to them for the wide selection of bagels, shmears, sandwiches, etc. they offer. If you're in a hurry and are not a regular of Einstein's, I'd strongly suggest you look at the menu beforehand and try to decide what you want. That is doubly so if you are ordering for a group. There's just way too much to choose from and that can be a good thing but it can also be a bad thing. On this occasion, my bro picked up an order for about 5 of us so we had an assortment of bagels, shmears, and breakfast sandwiches. We were all pleased with what we ordered. Like most food, it's probably best eaten immediately, on-site, but the 10-minute drive back to the house didn't ruin the food. Absolutely delicious! The bagels are bursting with flavor and look stunning. The service was great! The people were nice however they didn't seem like they knew what to do totally. That will come with practice however so I'm not holding it against them.
