The staff were totally apathetic and appeared to hate their jobs. It was 11:30am, and they were out of several bagel flavors and responded rudely when I asked if there were going to be any more. There's a huge sign that says they bake fresh bagels all day. A customer came in behind us, asked the same question, and got the same curt answer. I've stopped here twice quick, around lunch time to grab something and go. The place is nice and bright. They have a nice selection of bagels. The line has always been fairly quick. This last time I ordered a bagel-dog, and when I got in the car and started eating it - the hot-dog inside was still partially frozen. So yeah, that was kinda gross. But overall I like Einstein. I'll chalk it up to a fair mistake. I will continue to come here for their wonderful bagels. read more

Just walked out of this sorry excuse of a bagel shop. Ordered 3 bagels and a lox, took them exactly 22 mins to get it right. They gave away our order to someone else, who brought it back opened, so they had to remake them, which took another 12 mins because they made all the orders after us before even restarting ours. If u don't know how to read, don't be the one handing out the food. We gave u our name for a reason. We are now 10 min late to work with no time to eat bc we have to leave for the airport. Btw, not the first time, and there was no manager on premises to apologize, just bunch of hispanic employees who didn't speak much English, who gave away the wrong food to wrong patrons. 22 mins for bagels is UNACCEPTABLE. I rarely leave reviews but this one needed to be written. I went into this store and there were 2 people in line and one waiting. The 20 something kid working there wouldn't acknowledge the woman in front on me for nearly 5 minutes while he wandered around stocking things. I finally ordered 6 bagels and he through them in a bag with no napkins or a tub of cream cheese. I told him what I wanted and he said "You have to get it yourself". Service wayyyyy slow (I was there nearly 15 minutes) and the place was filthy. I should have paid attention to the reviews before I got there. So sad being a Glenview place. read more

Oh G-d, you just keep giving me more reasons to dislike you. Why would I come here if I hate it so much, you ask? To meet friends, of course. I brought my own gluten-free breakfast and poured my Starbuck's coffee into a generic Dixie hot cup. How could I be disappointed? I asked my husband for a little butter, thinking of a nice, sealed butter patty to schmear on my GF cornbread. Of course they don't have real butter and to reduce costs, serve margarine (or was it whipped yellow crisco?) Hubby returns with the little tub of oleo. I look at it and see mixed throughout the blackened crumbs of dozens of toasted bagels. You know how you make a sammich and you got a little too much mayo on the knife? Ok, so you scrape it back into the jar because you aren't gonna waste it, right? This was gross, not just because if I ate it and the gluten-laden crumbs contained within, I would get explosive diarrhea within the hour. In my book, this is akin to picking up that food that fell on the floor, washing it off, and serving it to your guests...I mean, it's crumbs from dozens of other people's food orders scraped into a plastic tub! read more

This location is one of the worst I've been to. I remember when it was under construction- the building is only 3 years old! The staff and management at this location are not well trained. No one is rude, but everyone working there obviously struggling to figure out what to do. They don't know which items should go on which sandwiches (we witnessed multiple people bringing food back and asking about a missing ingredient, and the pickle that always comes with my panini was absent). There were a number if items they were out of, too, which leads me to believe that the manager was not ordering the appropriate amount of food. I don't come out this way much anymore now that I no longer work in Northbrook, but I definitely won't be returning to this Einstein's, even if I am in the area. read more

I used to frequent this location when they first opened. Back then, there were a few careless employees but overall, it was decent. In recent years, this location has gone majorly down hill. I have experienced rude customer service, cold bagels (when ordered toasted) and absolutely no regard as to what the customer orders and pays extra for. Case in point: I came in and ordered two breakfast sandwiches, bacon egg and cheese on a potato bagel and added cream cheese to them. Mind you they charged me the extra $1 or so to add cream cheese. I asked the woman taking my order to please remind the girl making the sandwich to put on cream cheese, because they never seem to remember to do this. She said she would. I paid, and asked her to remind her again, since I saw she was making my order. To this, the sales woman responded " Geez, I said I would, she isn't even on your order yet. Step aside." I was shocked by her crassness so I stepped aside. My order was handed to me and I went to my car. When I got to my car, I opened the sandwiches to check and *Shock* there was NO cream cheese. I marched back inside, and the lady looks at me (She didn't see me exit and re-enter) and says "MAAM, I TOLD YOU I WOULD HAVE HER CHECK." and turns and asks where the order with the breakfast sandwiches is because this lady HAS to have her cream cheese. I lifted the bag, and said "I'm sorry to be such an inconvenience, but the order is right here and it's wrong. There is no cream cheese." The girl making the sandwiches took the bag, apologized, and added a tiny bit of cream cheese to my, now cold, breakfast sandwiches. I was too angry to ask to see a manager and instead will get my bagels else where. There's a great bagel spot 5 minutes down the street with real New York style bagels, not these mass produced ones. Or if I really want Einstein, I'll go to the Lake and Waukegan location that never seems to get my order wrong, or give me a hard time for wanting cream cheese on my bagel. read more

I ordered two chorizo bagel sandwiches, 1 with 1 egg, and 1 with 2 eggs. When I received the sandwiches, they were missing a key ingredient! -They had no avocado! The sandwiches didn't look like the picture either. I also noticed a fly sitting on one of the Iced Sugar Cookies flying from those cookies to other baked goods. They were also not busy at all. It was very disgusting and made us feel uncomfortable. Those sandwiches were overpriced and not worth it at all. At least the orange juice was good, but we will not be returning here. read more

Thumbs up for yum tasting food, but thumbs down for NEVER having enough cinnamon sugar bagels available, they ALWAYS have to "make" them from plain bagels. Plenty of staff, but they appear to be "training" and in need of direction. The customers are flowing in & out of the place, but the wait time seems to be getting longer with each visit. DO NOT GO HERE (unless you want catch up on reading texts and emails on your phone). It's Saturday morning and just got home from getting 3 bagels (unsliced) and a farmhouse egg sandwich. I was at Einstein's for 30 minutes!!!! That is ridiculous. Einstein's really needs to come up with a new strategy regarding taking orders, payment, and getting your food. They have not changed their strategy/process for many years and it is completely getting worse and worse. I will not come to this particular location at all anymore. It's a Saturday morning (and therefore, historically, very very busy). There is, as usual, there one register taking the order (and there was a long long line to the register waiting for the one person/register to take orders). Then there was a line to pay for your placed order. Then there was a line waiting for your one sandwich to be finished. Again, I just ordered 3 bagels to go (no cream cheese and not sliced) and one sandwich and I walked out the door 30 minutes later. Their customer intake set up has been like this for years at many of their locations. I am not surprised that various locations closed. The workers were trying to keep up with the pace but the delays were not their fault. It's the owner/management of the customer order and payment intake. Seriously......one register? read more

Worst service ever and nobody knows what there doing. The employees there argue with eachother to figure out whos doing what. They alwaysss mess up my order. That tall blonde manager is rude as hell and she doesn't know what shes doing half the time either. Every time I order something it's always messed up. As a bagel lover, I was super excited that to see that they were opening an Einstein down the street from where I live. I noticed the "Now Open" signs as I was heading home from the gym, and promptly turned in. It's a standalone building that they had built in what used to be empty parking space. It's nice & open on the inside, a good amount of tables and counters along the windows, and free wifi! There's also some outdoor seating that will be getting some use as it's getting nicer out. Great bagels and great coffee makes this place a nice start to your day. They have quite a few different selections of bagels and "shmears", or cream cheese as they like to call it, to satisfy almost any taste. I have personally found everything here to be extremely fresh and have never had an issue to date. Their bagels to go container is very convenient for the office setting. I would definitely recommend them. The only reason I didn't award them another star is because I personally have tasted better bagels and cream cheese but their's nonetheless are fantastic even still. read more

I went to this location this morning for breakfast. I ordered spinach and bacon and egg on a plain bagel. I got a spicy cream cheese or mayo and bacon and eggs on a plain bagel. I didn't want to complain about my order. But it was the wrong order. The lady at the cashier threw away my receipt so that I couldn't see it. I have never gotten a wrong order from there. I think they gave me someone else's order because the person after me ordered it. It was not crowded there at all. read more

I stopped by this location for a quick lunch one day. I like their bagels for breakfast, so why not lunch? Their menu wasn't huge, and I think there are a lot of things they can make that are not listed on their menu (like I got he turkey and cheddar sandwich and that wasn't on the menu). I wasn't a big fan of their sandwiches. They were pretty plain and expensive for what they are. The coffee was really really hot from sitting out. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Great food... when it comes out correctly. I am a big hockey player, and I stop off, before my away games at least once a week, at Einsteins. Every single time, and I am not exaggerating, they have messed either mine or my friends order up. For the limited times that I have, the inconvenience is a big time stressor. However, the food is great. Another thing about this establishment: I do not eat pork, and when I asked if I could have turkey sausage on my sand which instead of bacon, they ignored the request and proceeded to charge me $1.50 for the non-existing turkey sausage. Once I got my sandwich, I asked them to switch the two meats and they left the $1.50 on my bill. No impressed Einsteins. read more

I've never written a review before but today was such a terrible experience that I felt compelled to write my very first review. After my mom and I ordered our food and drinks with the man that was behind the first counter, we went to the second counter to pay and saw that the lady made a mistake. My mom ordered a mocha latte because there was a huge sign in the front window advertising mocha lattes for $2 and my mom figured why not try it since it's only $2. When we saw the receipt, we saw that the lady charged us $3.49 so we told her she mischarged us. The lady threw her hands up in the air and said "it's too late now, you should've told me before you paid that you wanted it rung up that way". We were in complete disbelief that those words actually came out of her mouth but calmly told her that the man told us it was $2. She then angrily and hastily yanked two dollars out of her tips jar and shoved it over to us. Then she asked if my mom wanted the mocha latte hot or iced and my mom said hot. The man walked over and said "wait you want it iced now?" My mom said "no, I want it hot" (which is what she said when she originally ordered it with the man at the first counter). Then he says in a really loud voice "there are two options, hot or iced, you have to choose one. You can't have both!" And that's when I stepped in and repeated that she already said hot. The whole experience was completely absurd and ruined our entire day. We couldn't believe how incompetent, rude, and disrespectful the employees were acting towards us. It's such a shame because the food was delicious and I will definitely continue eating at Einstein, but never again at this location with these ridiculous employees. read more

I search yelp a lot before visiting any restaurants and I've been wondering why people are writing bad reviews with employees at this joint. I come here time to time to get my coffee and a bagel and never had any complaints until today, I stopped by few minutes before closing time because I needed a couple buckets of bagels for early tomorrow morning and they don't open till 6 a.m. and the door was closed already, so I knocked on the door asking to open and walked in to find out everything was closed already and blades were taken out from the cutting machine. I asked for an favor since it wasn't even time to close and he was just stareing at me. I'm in a service business with multiple locations and I get to worry if any of my employees are doing it. My last few experiences coming here: I brought in a Starbucks coffee to accompany a bagel i was getting to go and this short lady with dark hair scolds me, explaining that they sell coffee. No kidding, ever consider I might not like your coffee? Were u raised by Stalin? Forget too them ever getting an order right. I ordered a lox and bagel toasted on everything with no capers. Just went in here for a quick bite and to grab bagels to go and experienced nothing but rude customer service. Rush, rush, rush you through and don't pay any attention to ensuring your order is correct - which btw was not. They made my coffee and then slammed it down on the counter where it splattered up on me - not even an apology. Not sure if the older man at the register handling my order was a manager or not however any service experience like that requires a deep evaluation. The bagels to-go was never placed with a plastic baggie which is customary at any normal bagel store and you're barked when placing the order as if everyone here is a regular - well I can tell you honestly, I'll never be back.
