My son & I had a wonderful wine tasting experience at Ehret Winery this past weekend. Alex at Ehret took his time sharing with us the history of their winery & the Knights Valley vineyards. We enjoyed their 4 flights of wine-all were delicious! My favorite was their Hillside Reserve Cab. We are definitely returning! Thank you Alex!

I made reservations for two adults and two young teenagers on a Tuesday morning and were the first guests to arrive that day. We were greeted with a welcome glass and were told they were setting up our table. That gave us enough time to do a couple of selfies and within minutes, we were escorted inside. Season Leef was our host/wine ambassador that morning and we loved her energy, attention to detail and how she treated us like we were members of the MacRostie Winery/family. She was more about understanding our palettes and pouring us what we gravitated towards to showcase the vast portfolio Heidi (winemaker) has been able to produce. Usually not a fan of Chardonnays but it was a neat experience tasting different variables and how each one is slightly different. We know we like Pinot Noirs so when we started diving into the reds, thats when we started figuring out what we liked. Ended up purchasing a bottle of their 2022 Nightwing Vineyard 828 Clone Pinot Noir :chefkiss: My two young teens are used to being at wineries with us so they're pretty good about keeping themselves occupied on their own (even with out devices). But, I really appreciated that Season brought over some paper and a pack of markers for them since they both still like to draw. Plus, we had a couple of good sessions of tic tac toe while we sipped and took our time. We had a great experience here thanks to Season! Seeing that they're dog friendly, we'll bring our 4 legged family member next time.

I forgot the exact experience that we chose, but it was $75 for each with wine and food included. You will get 4 wine tastings, for us it was 2 reds and 2 whites, and a charcuterie plate with cheese, salami, and seasonal fruits and crackers. Wine quality was great. The white wines had a clean and crisp taste with that bright acidity and mineral finish. The reds had a very deep grapefruit aromatic and earthy undertone. After we've done with wine tasting, they gave us a free piece of dark chocolate (super yummy) at the end for palate cleanser. Our server was really knowledgeable and attentive though, so service was nice. Overall a great spot if you stay cool! But okay, few things to watch out for. Make sure you make a reservation in advance cuz they were packed (reservations needed prepayment). Even though we had one, we still had to wait like 20 minutes before our table was ready. Also, definitely ask to sit inside in the summer!! We sat outside and there is no AC, it was so hot we couldn't fully enjoy the graveyard view, it's way too sweaty for the summer.

Mark greeted us by the door of the tasting room/production facility which is just off the square. He spent time walking through the winery's history and how he and is brother run the business. By the end of the tasting we had talked about wine, food, music, documentaries, and much more. Mark made it feel like we were all siting around the kitchen table just talking about wine and life. I liked this setting (one group at a time with 100% participation) much more enjoyable than most other wineries we visited which have more of a bar/restaurant feeling where the server would just pour your tasting, give you the one sentence blurb they learned about it and then disappearing to help other tables for 10-15 minutes until it was time for your next pour. We started the tasting with their "White Wine" and Viognier. We then moved on to the reds including Pinot, Zin, Merlot, Malbec and Cab. They were all very well made and quite tasty. Ended up purchasing 3 bottles to go and a membership to be shipped later in the year. I'd definitely recommend others putting Blanchard on their list of places to visit in Healdsburg. Appointments are needed as Mark only does one group's tasting at a time.

It was a perfect setting for friends & family to enjoy the celebration. They offered a wine tasting ahead of their stay. I just read in the SF Chronical that the owner, Karen F. DeGolia, happened to be our wine-tasting hostess. She was a delight & very knowledgeable about the history of Limerick Lane Cellars & the surrounding areas. Her story is featured in the Food & Wine section, dated 4/19/26. My husband & I highly recommend Limerick Lane Cellars.

Our grand adventure began in Healdsburg with an Indian lunch, because nothing says "let's go taste…read morewine" quite like a stomach full of Curried Goat and Garlic Naan. Properly fortified, we set off for Limerick Lane Cellars, where the vines are so old they probably remember the Gold Rush. No, really--some of these Zinfandel vines date back to the late 1800s. The tasting room is small, but don't let that fool you--this is not some one-wine pony. Here, you're in for a lineup that ranges from a delicate apricot-hued Rosé to a parade of Old Vine Zins, each smoother than the last. (If you're expecting Central California spice bombs, think again.) The winery lets you discover the flavors for yourself rather than handing you a tasting note scavenger hunt of obscure fruits and foraged herbs. Our tasting experience took place in a cozy, three-walled navy blue tent--because why not add a little suspense? Equipped with heaters and vineyard views, we sipped our way through the lineup while storm clouds rolled over the distant hills, mustard flowers bloomed in every row, and we mentally prepared ourselves for the inevitable wine temptations. Our wine guide, Julie, greeted us in stylish riding boots and a winning smile, pouring an elegant Rosé, then a blend of Cuvée and Syrah, followed by four (yes, four) Old Vine Zinfandels. She expertly navigated our group, which consisted of two seasoned wine aficionados (Kathryn and Robin) and two enthusiastic amateurs (Barbie and me). While Robin delved into the nuances of each pour, we nodded along wisely and took notes for future wine-snob impersonations. On our way out, we met two couples from New York embarking on their first Sonoma wine tour. After the experience we just had, we figured Julie had set the bar so high that the rest of their trip might feel like a discount sequel. Final verdict? Limerick Lane is a must-visit, especially if you enjoy historic vineyards, expertly crafted wines, and the chance to pretend you know what "structured tannins" actually means.

Their tasting room is located right in the heart of Alexander Valley and is surrounded by lush and vibrant gardens. They have an adorable patio space with great views of both their gardens and vineyards. Their indoor tasting room is so hip and chic. It features a center tasting bar that is surrounded by beautiful artwork and a backwall that showcases their wine cellar. My friend and I came here for a tasting and we had a very pleasant time. Laura was our host and she was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the wines that she poured. She told us about the history of the winery and how it began. It was neat to learn that Medlock Ames was started by two college buddies while they went to school in NYC. Most of their grapes from their wines are sourced from their own vineyards in Bell Mountain. The majority of the wines that are produced here are small lot and limited production. Tastings are $45 and available by reservation only. Although I enjoyed the atmosphere here, I wasn't blown away by any of their wines. My friend is a big fan of their sauvignon blanc and I'll admit that it's tasty and probably their signature wine. It was odd that it wasn't featured on their tasting list, but Laura was nice enough to pour it for us anyways. I'm not usually a fan of merlot, but I actually enjoyed their Jefferson Clone Merlot the best out of all the wines that we tried. I just felt that wines were overpriced for the quality, but it could have just been that my palate didn't align with these particular wines. Despite this, I would still come back again to try more of their wines. Hopefully, I'll find something that I truly like here in the future.

They also had Gluten free crackers which was great because my MIL has celiac. While all the wines were good, my favorite was the second one we tried, the blanc de noirs. A couple of use ordered glasses of Moscato after the tasting. The moscato was interesting, in a good way, but it was definitely different, not as sweet as most moscatos and a little musky. The restaurant is the building to the left as you enter as well as the museum. We ordered the 3 course menu with wine pairing for what I thought was a great price. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the wine pairings. The crab fritter with caviar: 3.5 stars. It was a fried potato ball with minimal crab. The caviar and accompanying sauce is what made the dish. The mushroom risotto: 3 stars. Perhaps it's because I don't care for risotto - too moist for rice. However the flavor was good, albeit a little salty. The mushroom were cooked for perfection and delicious, wish I had more. The salmon with broccolini:3 stars. cooked to order. I like mine well done due to preventions of parasites. But it was still moist. The accompanying sauce did not help flavor much but I guess I could have put more salt. I really enjoy the veggies in the dish. The broccolini was cooked the way I like and the rings of squash were tender and sweet. The hubby got the beef shoulder for his third course:5 stars. Tender and falls apart much like a pot roast. Flavorful as well. Apple tart and ice cream: 4 stars. I actually enjoyed the dish. Not too sweet. You can taste all the flavors and texture. Over all we had a great time with the wine, food was accompaniment. The museum was fun to stroll thru as well.
