Eggs Up Grill is a classic breakfast diner. Even with lines to get it, they move the food and tables quickly and efficiently and delicious morning food (regardless of time of day.) Affordable spot when you don't want to be a short order cook in your home.

Typical breakfast restaurant. Sunday morning was a really busy time, we waited probably 25 minutes and were seated at the counter which was fun. They had chairs instead of stools, so that was nice! Our server was really nice, and quick! The food was just average which I was fine with, I just wanted a very basic breakfast. But I was disappointed with the home fries, they weren't hot when I got them and they were "grilled" but just kinda tasted like they were boiled and had some seasoning thrown on them. I usually prefer fried or actually grilled, so those were a disappointment.. everything else was fine though. I'd come back for a simple breakfast but would skip the home fries.

    Hilarious

Please consider splurging for the 2nd piece of bread for the kids grilled cheese. I'd be mad if I could stop laughing. We used to love eating here, but lately the number of corners cut have made this location a non-option.

North St. based on the 4.5 Yelp rating. What's going on here? Are these reviews being artificially boosted? I genuinely had to look at my phone to make sure I'd come to the right place based on expectations vs. reality. We ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs and chicken. The chicken was a had an odd mushy/spongy texture -- a couple of tenders unceremoniously dropped on the plate and nothing like in any of the marketing photos -- and the gravy was not very flavorful at all. Someone else in my party got the chicken and waffles -- their chicken was better than mine, but still completely unimpressive. I also have to say, unfortunately, that the staff is not on their game. We had communication problems with the person taking our order, and the self-bussing area was overflowing with dirty forks and plates. This is a corporate slop establishment, and Greenville has at least a dozen breakfast spots, especially locally-owned ones, that are miles better than this. I regret not looking a bit harder for a better local spot.

I enjoyed my meal, as it was simple & light, though filling and enjoyable. I would like to try a Crepe if I ever come back. The interior is also cute and has rustic decor, cozy atmosphere. Service was quick, but I also felt that it was lacking and communication was short. We didn't get straws or have napkins at the table, so I tried my best to not make a mess eating. Every time the server came by, it was so quick I didn't get to ask. I don't like that the silverware is just sitting out either, not very sanitary. I got a small pastry that was also forgotten about until the server was reminded. There was also someone that was going around to tables to check in...it felt like we were left out. I'd like to give this place another chance, but it wasn't a great first impression.

I've given this restaurant more chances than I probably should have because there aren't many dining options in Inman. Unfortunately, every visit has reinforced the same impression. One visit, I came in with a group of five. The restaurant was not busy, yet we waited over 30 minutes for our food. I ordered a crepe with lemon curd that arrived with a watery filling. I had ordered the dish before and knew it wasn't right. The waitress agreed to take it back, but after another long wait she returned and explained they couldn't remake it because the curd needed more time to set. In other words, they knew it wasn't ready but served it anyway. At that point, I was starving and ordered a different crepe. By the time it arrived, my friends had already finished their meals and we'd been there for over an hour. The replacement wasn't very good and I only ate part of it. When the bill came, I was charged full price. Not once during the entire experience did the owner come by to apologize or check on the situation, despite being present. When I politely explained that I didn't feel I should be charged for a dish that was served incorrectly and delayed the entire table, the owner argued that because I had eaten some of the replacement crepe, I should pay for it. The conversation became unnecessarily confrontational over what should have been a simple customer service issue and could have been easily solved by a discount and an apology. Eventually the item was removed, but only after a lengthy debate. What bothered me most wasn't the mistake. Mistakes happen. It was the complete lack of accountability, concern, or desire to make things right. In reading some of the other reviews, it seems others have also had this experience On a later visit, the owner made a point of checking on every nearby table except ours, which felt intentionally passive-aggressive given our previous interaction. My last visit was the worst experience yet. The food was poor, service was slow, and I watched the owner lock the doors 40 min before the posted closing time of 2 pm, and no sign posted. Several customers arrived expecting the restaurant to be open and were visibly frustrated. I then observed the owner complaining about those customers to other guests inside the restaurant. Expecting a business to honor its posted hours is not entitlement; it's a reasonable expectation. I also observed her arguing with a customer on my way out. That was my last cue to never give this place another shot. At the end of the day, food is usually a miss, and service is slow. What is much harder to overlook is an owner who seems unwilling to accept responsibility when problems arise, and more likely to lash out at customers than focus on improvement . I will never go back, this place has left a very bad taste in my mouth. Updated response to owner: No ma'am, this review is directly related to my experiences as a customer in your establishment over multiple visits. My review specifically discusses issues I experienced with the food, service, and management, all of which are relevant to a customer's dining experience. Suggesting that my review stems from a personal matter rather than the experiences I described only reinforces my concern about accountability. Instead of addressing the specific issues raised, you've chosen to dismiss them as unrelated. I'm certainly not the only customer who has had these concerns, and I would be happy to provide screenshots of other reviews describing similar experiences. Reviews are not personal. They are a reflection of a customer's experience and are intended to help other members of the community make informed decisions. My review is based on my own experiences and observations as a paying customer. ****UPDATED 6/16: received a message from Yelp stating the owner tried to get my review removed saying 'I had a conflict of interest.' Once again, that's not true. I've only ever been a customer and do not know the owner nor does she know me. This is rather unethical and dishonest, so one more reason not to go here.

Hubs had the meatballs (which the server said they only had two left...a friend nabbed the others) and other friends had the moules (mussels) frites and the braised short rib IIRC. The *.frites were the biggest hits. My filet was perfect, Sharon was raving about her mussels being the best she's had in ages. I had a bite of the meatballs, they were ok but people agreed there are better things on their menu. I love that the frites come with a choice of 3 out of about 10 different custom mayos (aiolis for the fancy-schmancy). I tried the curry, sriracha, and a fruity one I can't remember exactly what it was. I liked the fruity one the best and to my surprise, the curry the least (I usually love curry, but the balance was off). The sriracha mayo was too subtle for me, I slather sriracha mayo on my burgers regularly. I have no class. The frites were fresh cut and I enjoyed them but there were far more than I could eat on my plate, and sadly frites don't keep. They have my favorite super sweet Lindemann's framboise lambic on tap; I've only ever had it in bottles before, so that was a treat. My husband thinks I'm crazy to drink it because it is SO SWEET but I love it. So does Sharon, and clearly we're not alone or they wouldn't waste a tap on it :). It's beer for people who hate beer. (I resemble that remark. Maybe hate is a strong word. But in my 30s I realized I'd rather drink a soda than a beer, except for this one.) Desserts sounded good but we were too stuffed to order any. Next time I come, I may try the mussels, or I might just order that steak again.

It's in a basement that feels like a pleasant dungeon or a 1500's rogue tavern, you know, the kind in the movies where plots to overturn evil rulers are hatched. It is a unique vibe and after your meal, when emerging back onto the brightly lit street, it's akin to stepping out of a secret place and back into the light of day. The beer selection is impressive. This food is Belgian inspired. Hence the name being derived from a mix of Trappist Monks, trap doors, and a hidden underground enclave. Many of the beers have higher alcohol content, listed on the menu, be advised. The specialty is Moules Frites, mussels prepared in various broths and fries double fried in duck fat served with a flight of your choice of flavored mayonnaise such as wasabi, curry, truffle, sriracha, etc. Very good. Reservations are highly recommended. It was a busy Thursday at 6:30pm and the place was literally packed, even the bar. The two of us were seated in a large, dark, alcove booth fitting for six or perhaps even eight. We had a reservation, so the hostess said, "we may as well fill it" since it was that crowded. Being such, it was five minutes before we were noticed and placed our drink orders, another five before our water arrived and we ordered and about 30 minutes later to get our food. In between we were left to ourselves. The service was not negligent, but it was minimal and not really friendly either. It was a busy night, so we will have grace. But the mussels were delicious. We both had the Provincale, a rich, savory, Mediterranean sauce of tomatoes, garlic and white wine. Bourdain says "never order the mussels", in his Kitchen Confidential book, but here you are safe because they are very popular and the main feature. I've probably said this before and it is worth repeating, they need to up their crusty bread game. The broth is so good and the accompanying bread just doesn't lend itself to bringing the dish to another level, but it could were it better bread. This is a solid and must do restaurant experience when visiting Greenville. It arguably should be the "one" restaurant you must visit in town because of its unique ambiance and unique food & beverage.
