Atmosphere & Ambience Peggy's Diner #2 embraces a retro charm, with an unironic 70s-80s vibe that feels both nostalgic and lived-in. The dining area is open, and diners seat themselves--adding to the laid-back, come-as-you-are feel. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, drawing a steady crowd of locals and retirees. Televisions quietly play the local news, blending into the background without being disruptive. ‍ Service The service at Peggy's Diner #2 is warm and attentive. The waitress was quick to bring coffee and water, setting a comfortable and unhurried pace for the meal. Staff greet locals by name and engage in easy conversation, creating a neighborly atmosphere reminiscent of a barber shop or a bench on the town square. It's the kind of place where regulars feel known and newcomers feel welcome. Food & Drinks The coffee came out quickly in a generous, no-nonsense mug--just what you'd expect from a place like this. It's a classic cup: reliable, familiar, and ready to refill. For breakfast, the two eggs over medium were cooked just right--simple and satisfying. The fried fish was the clear highlight: golden, crisp, and flaky, it was prepared perfectly and ranks among the best I've had. It's consistently good here, a true standout. The grits were creamy and comforting, served in the traditional Southern style. A biscuit came on the side--soft and familiar, a nice addition even if not especially memorable. Value for Money The portions were generous, and at just $9 for the plate, it felt like a steal. For the quality--especially the perfectly fried fish and classic Southern sides--it's an exceptionally reasonable price. Peggy's Diner #2 delivers real value without cutting corners. I'll definitely be back. If you're looking for a hearty, home-cooked meal that tastes like something grandma would've made, this is your spot. read more

Came in for breakfast around 10, the staff was friendly but Felt like our order took forever to get to us and when it did both plates were cold! The fatback we ordered were hard & tasted like just fried oil! The only thing that was good was the biscuit. Even tho it was cheap, definitely wasn't worth it! read more

Peggy's Diner 2 - diners sitting at tables in a restaurant - Diners Near Me - Greer, South Carolina

If you are looking for a tremendous breakfast place, you gotta try Peggy's Diner in Greer. It is a country style place. Really laid back, with terrific breakfasts at a very reasonable price. The portion of country ham is more than most, and the grits [I get mine a little "cheesy"] are really superb. Peggy is a sweet young lady in her [I'm guessing here] mid fifties and runs the kitchen culinary staff like they are family. According to my wife, you simply have to try the biscuits...make sure to ask for them to be grilled. YUMMY!! This place is definitely going to become a regular haunt for this foodie. read more

Decent food and great service! I ordered the 3 egg sausage omelet with cheese, hash browns and a biscuit. I also ordered a side of home fries and gravy. The omelet was good and the sausage was fantastic. The onset was plenty big and cooked well. The hash browns were way better than the home fries. The biscuits were really good. Light and buttery but could use some fresh honey! The things that did not make the cut: -The home fries were just fried chunks of potato, like french fries, and had no seasoning. I think this is a SC thing, because I have yet to find anyone who actually makes home fries with seasoning... -The gravy was lacking, just a white gravy and PEPPER!!! Lots of fricken pepper. Not satisfying. - Bacon tasted nothing like bacon and was definitely cheap bacon. Tough and weird. -Scrambled eggs tasted weird. They lacked a normal egg consistency and flavor. Do not know if they use fresh eggs or liquid egg. The service was fantastic. Couldn't ask for faster service and knowledgeable staff. We will be back to try lunch. read more

We just moved to Greer SC and found Peggy's Diner 2. What a pleasant surprise, my wife and I were greeted as if we were regulars at Peggy's, a very warm and friendly atmosphere. We had a fantastic breakfast, the chessy grits were excellent and we were sampled one of the biscuits with honey, definitely a favorite. We have made this a must stop for breakfast and are planning to try the lunch and dinner menu as well. Our first visit here and we'll definitely be back. It's pretty dumpy and down home but service was great, friendly, and fast. For $11.90 we got two three egg breakfast platters that included three eggs prepared to your liking, hash browns or home fries or grits, toast (wet or dry?), and meat (bacon, sausage, fried bologna, or ham) plus a hot tea and a sweet tea. And it was good! One very minor gripe - the check doesn't have prices on it so you have to guess at tipping. I kinda figured $15 so I left $3 and some change. Overtopped but at those prices who cares? We will for sure be back soon. Thanks for a great start to a Sunday morning. read more

Went there for lunch and food was waaay over-priced for what was served. Inside is dirty

I have traveled to many cities where there are "dives" and the food is exceptional. This is definitely a dive but unfortunately the food is far from exceptional. You can tell a lot about a restaurant by the details, such as the bathrooms, menus, decor, etc. The menus look like they were left out in the rain. Who knows when the men's room toilet has been cleaned, but it was obvious somebody's stomach wasn't feeling too well after a meal. The decor is vintage 70's, with wood paneling everywhere. It's not well heated and very drafty. The waitresses are very friendly and the service is ok. I had the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were ok...nothing exceptional, but not terrible either. The gravy was bland, to say the least. Just basic flour and milk, with a sprinkle of pepper. No sausage, no spices, kind of like eating warm paste. Why is this place busy? I have no idea. The prices are cheap, but cheap means poor quality and the food is definitely poor quality. It beats eating at Waffle House only because there was nobody smoking in the place, but I will never go back. read more

This is that mythical perfect little joint that all the locals know about. Grandma-style southern comfort food, great sandwiches, generous portions and really good prices. The staff is wonderful, the place is cozy and relaxed and you will not leave hungry. They have a meat-and-3 menu that changes daily but always includes their addictive macaroni and cheese. (Yes, in the south it's considered a vegetable.) Their fried chicken is some of the best i've ever had, and it may be the local's best kept secret! The only small catch is that their hours can be a little odd, and they are off the beaten track (about 5 miles off the main highway) so you may want to call and check the hours before you go. read more

Local folks feeding local folks. Nothing fancy just good food and a friendly atmosphere. You are always one of the family at Peggy's.

I have been here for breakfast numerous times. One time I had bacon that has been cooked the day before and thrown into the fryer to reheat. It was like trying to eat greasy rubber. Eggs over easy are often times not cooked thoroughly or over cooked. Hash browns and potatoes are often burnt or not cooked thoroughly. Grits are often cold. Coffee is cold and weak. And if you dare complain they act like you said something terrible. Recently they have had only one waitress on Sunday morning and she can't handle a large crowd on her own. But lately the crowd has been extremely thin so I guess there's no point in hiring another. I also noticed employees going outside to smoke or whatever and do not wash their hands when they come back in. The price is good but the last two Sunday's in a row I have been sick after eating here. It's not worth it. read more

Not fancy but fair. Most food tasted like it came form a can or frozen. Service is friendly.

Went here once for breakfast. Waitress took my order, bought my juice and I never saw her again. Went to ask at counter and saw my order being picked over at counter. They gave me my juice for free, but I have not returned. read more

The food was fresh the service was great slalad was very fresh too I would reccomend it .And very friendly :3

It is simple good down home cooking. We have food allergies and they were very careful with my children. There was 1 lady servicing 9 tables and she never missed a beat! The price for 6 people was $25 and we all had vegetables. The diner is "old-school' but clean. They were scrubbing the kitchen one evening as we were leaving.:) We're fans. Best cheap breakfast and you can go in your play clothes and no one would ever care:) read more
