Blueberry pancake, eggs, grits and chicken sausage. Everything was tasty.

Great experience checking out this new neighborhood breakfast spot. The service was great! Enjoyed the food. Great menu options. Welcoming atmosphere. It gets busy on the weekends.

Eggs Benedict?

Waitress was nice, but this is the 3rd time we've had to send food back. What happened?! Seems the quality of the food from the kitchen has decreased significantly over the last few months!!! Used to be 5 star.

Nice atmosphere and great menu options. Nice restaurant for breakfast or brunch. I've been there twice, highly recommended.

The food is amazing (try the million dollar bacon) and portions are generous.

The coconut cream pie had flavor of cocoon every bite. They have indoor and outdoor seating and lots of it. They have several places to order drinks throughout the seating areas. There is a sign at The Southern Growl that reads, in effect, that if your pet or your child…read moreproduces waste on the premises, you are expected to clean it up. I read it three times, not because I misunderstood it, but because I wanted to confirm that it listed pets and children in that order, which it did, and that tells you something about the sequence of problems they've encountered on the lawn, though I've decided not to find out what exactly. With that said, the lawn is not exactly a lawn at all, unless you consider granite rocks as a lawn, which the residents of Elberton, Georgia do as it is considered the "Granite Capital of the World." Elberton this is not. This rocky lawn is to be filled with Bichon Frisés and children in ball caps, and on the afternoon I visited it was doing exactly that. There was a dog near the covered bar area moving through the patio with the serenity of an animal who has never once been told that other people exist. His owner stood nearby holding a beer and looking proud, which is a face I recognized, because I have a son and have stood next to him with that exact expression at least twice in public places where I should have known better. I had the Radiant Positivity, a sour ale at 6%, which sounds like something printed above a middle school guidance counselor's desk but turned out to be genuinely good, all grapefruit and a tartness that knew when to stop. I thought about ordering the Kamp Jam, a 4% light lager described as tasting like shared laughter and the unbreakable bonds of friendship, and decided I wasn't there yet. The owners opened this place in 2014 and have expanded it three times since, which tells you something about Greer that it probably already knows about itself but that the rest of the area is still catching up on. Consequentially, Greer itself has also expanded its waistline 3 times since 2014 but that's a discussion for another time. I ordered a second beer, the Howler Bock, a Helles Bock that the bartender described in terms I didn't fully follow but nodded along to, the way you nod at a doctor who is explaining something you've already decided to accept. It was malty and quieter than the Radiant Positivity, the kind of beer you drink while thinking about something else, which is not an insult. I thought about asking about the Southern Sanctum, an American Tripel, but the afternoon had reached the evening and a point where a Tripel felt like a commitment that deserved more deliberation than I had left in me. I paid my tab, which was reasonable in a way that surprised me given the quality of everything, said goodbye to nobody in particular, and drove home thinking about the Kamp Jam, and whether the unbreakable bonds of friendship were something I'd get to eventually.

I should've gotten the egg over easy instead of scrambled but that's on me. Hubby had the Ranchos Herveros (probably spelled that wrong). Great flavor and heat from the sauce. The menu is filled with scratch-made Southern fare as well as cocktails, craft beer, coffee, and specialty lattes courtesy of Mel's Morning Surge. The restaurant also has a jam bar which features 4 different scratch-made jams: blueberry lavender, strawberry basil, red pepper, ginger peach and butters: maple, regular, sweet potato, and pecan. I wasn't able to try these on my first visit, but will most definitely try these on my second. The staff made a good impression, too. They were pleasant, knowledgeable about their menu items and welcoming. The items I tried that were instant faves: THE HANGOVER - Buttermilk biscuit, fried chicken, bacon, scrambled eggs, candied jalapeños, topped with homemade gravy. BANANA PECAN PANCAKES - 3 pancakes, bananas, candied pecans, cream cheese frosting, caramel syrup, pecan butter. CINNAMON ROLL LATTE - ($5) - courtesy of Mel's Morning Surge, the restaurant's in-house vendor, which offers lattes, both traditional and seasonal*, in the following flavors: vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, mocha, white mocha, toasted marshmallow*, pumpkin spice*, and apple crisp*.
