Got here at 1 pm on a Thursday afternoon after running errands all morning, ready to indulge ourselves. The place was quiet so we expected and received attentive service. A veg omelette and huevo rancheros seemed like a good choice with a side of roast potatoes. Huevos rancheros had great potential but came cold. There was no one to greet us and we had a wait a few minutes for someone to notice us waiting before we were seated (which is the only reason why I didn't lot five them five stars). I've been coming here for years. It has gone downhill significantly. I had biscuits and gravy this morning. The sausage tasted gross and had a bone in it. The potatoes were cold and dry. I'm surprised at how beat up this place looks right now. Chips in the wall paint, chips in the table, broken down cracked booths. Somebody put some money back into this place before it falls apart completely. Also, why is the break room for employees right in the restaurant? I'm glad they have a place to relax, but I'm not in the mood to hear all the chatter because they get loud. My husband and I came in after church and were completely disappointed in the service. I'm a server myself and this was by far the worst service I've ever had eating at a restaurant. We sat at the bar and the bartender was rude and had an attitude, never smiled once. She didn't write anything down when taking our order, had to come back to clarify what we already told her, and STILL messed up my husband's food. I also did not appreciate how she talked to the busser. Management was great as always, food was good, and every other time we've come service has been great too. There was a nice size crowd, but it didn't take long for us to order and get our food. Our server Jam was very friendly and attentive to all of the tables that she had. Though it was a little after 11, I ordered the Supreme Omelette it has sausage, bacon, onions, mushrooms and Colby Jack cheese. I ordered my omelette with out the mushrooms. For my sides I got City grits and an English muffin. The omelette was seasoned well, and so were the grits. They were on point, I added some butter and salt they were perfectly cooked (a BIG PLUS) in my book. My sister had the Benedict Burger with a fried egg on it. She really enjoyed it. A reliable spot for a good, casual brunch! It's also a plus that they have the full menu, including alcoholic drinks and the more classic breakfast items, until 2pm. There are so many options it can be difficult to choose, but the crab cake benedict is certainly a favorite. It had a lovely balance of flavors, brightened up by the garnishing of fresh veggies, and the poached eggs are always cooked well. The chicken & waffles was also yummy. The chicken was juicy and tender on the inside, crispy and well-seasoned on the outside. But the sweet chipotle sauce was definitely the star of that dish! The pancakes were okay--I might've liked them better had the chocolate chips been mixed into the batter rather than on top. I think the good maple syrup (you know what I'm talking about) would've made a difference as well! Our server, Sarah, was friendly and attentive. She was kind enough to make me a coffee with 2/3 decaf, which, as a caffeine sensitive person, I greatly appreciated! The bourbon eggnog was again, well-balanced, and very tasty. We weren't served water right away, and didn't ask for it until further into the meal, but I would have preferred to have it served with our other drinks when we sat down. I don't know where they found the mini English muffin, but Don't get it, at least with toast. It's a little bigger. Coffee was weak. Wife and I had bkfst on 1/23/2025 at 10am at the ABE on Woodruff Road in Greenville SC. No line and parking available right by door. McKenzie L was our waitress. Very pleasant young lady. Took our coffee order and gave us a few min to decide. I had the Hey Lucy omelet, wife had the Supreme omelet (w/ added spinach & tomato). Wife asked for potatoes to be crisped more before order, and extra creamer for our coffees. McKenzie was very prompt, bringing us both our drinks and a huge bowl of indiv creamers. Plus a point for the extra creamer. We got our meals and although I didn't notice, the kitchen failed to put the avocado on top as the photo on the menu portrayed. Kitchen loses a point. Omelets were a bit over cooked. The chorizo in my omelet was just spicy enough to shine through. Green chilis although present were minimal and almost an afterthought. Wife's potatoes did come out extra crispy so plus a point. McKenzie kept our coffee cups full and made sure everything on her end went well. Price is a buck or two more than what you'd get at a typical chain restaurant (IHOP, Cracker Barrel, etc), but the choices aren't the usual either, they're unique. Crowd was moderate I'd say, several tables were full but there were open seats as well. Several tables were flipped with out-going and in-coming customers. McKenzie get's 5-stars for her upbeat welcome and taking care of us so well. Kitchen 3 1/2 stars, food was hot and tasted good but forgot ingredients and over cooked. I'd eat here again. Maybe ask for McKenzie's table, unless I'm going that day and don't, so I'll get great service, and you'll have to roll the dice. Sorry no pictures this time.
