Be prepared for a decent 20 to 30 minute wait on the weekends. You may even need to wait outside. It's worth it. There is a huge, potentially overwhelming, selection. You can always find something you want. Prices aren't bad. The food is good and the plates are filled up. Service varies on the server and how busy it is. Went for breakfast this morning with mom, wife and myself. Little slow at turning some tables so there was a line forming. Once we got to table too some time to get that first cup of coffee. We ordered: Canadian Bacon benedict French toast Classic breakfast The classic breakfast and eggs benedict came fast but for some reason the French toast took forever. The fact that the food was good and hot is what got the higher rating for this restaurant. If there would have been quailty issues with the food it would have been a much more disappointing visit. read more

While my food was tasty, it came out cold and my asperagus was way overcooked. My server spent more time paying attention to a table of her friends than to her other tables. I was never asked if I wanted a refill on my coffee nor did my server return to ask me if my meal was okay (at which point I would have asked her to warm it up a little more). Once it was time to pay I informed my server that my food tasted good but it was fairly cold and I also could have used a bit more coffee. The only response I got was an unenthusiastic, "oh, sorry." Amazing restaurant! We have been going here for years and the food is amazing whether you order breakfast or lunch. This is by far the best place in town for breakfast if you are looking for many options including the classics. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Our favourites include the crispy home fries, the skillets, crepes, and chicken club wrap. All quality ingredients for a very fair price. Very busy on weekends, so expect to wait-but it's so worth it! The coffee is also amazing and the fresh orange juice. I have never been disappointed. read more

DELISH!!! Their home fries are the best in Guelph. Portion sizes are huge, prices are great, coffee is strong and service is friendly!! I'm never disappointed when I go here. It's usually pretty busy but you can put your name on the wait list and leave your cell # and they'll text you when your table is ready. I have always had good things to say about Eggcetra, and have always recommended it to everyone I know. However just this past Sunday a group of us had gone to dine in on the patio. We arrived and were seated at 10:40am. We ordered 4 coffee's, small glass of orange juice, a side of potato fries, Chorizo Skillet, the Prosciutto ,Asparagus, Havarti Benedict, and a Traditional Skillet. I can understand it was the Sunday of the long weekend, but as we were all sitting there chatting an hour and 10 minutes had gone by and we had still not received any of our food. The only item's we received were our drinks. If our server had approached us and said "i'm so sorry for the wait, we are busy but your food will be right up", then we would have not been not as upset, but no update on the time frame of our food was given. However we were so hungry and very disappointed we ended up paying for our drinks only and leaving. read more

This restaurant is amazing! Portion sizes are fantastic for the price. The staff is so friendly and in sync, any time one of them passed our table and there was a dirty plate or cup they grabbed it to get it out of our way. The servers were also attentive but not overbearing, which is a great balance when it comes to restaurants. My partner and I went for brunch and the service and food exceeded our expectations! Although there was a long wait, the experience we had here was amazing, even for a breakfast venue. They have an amazing menu, with plenty of vegetarian options (there were more than 12 types of eggs benny!). Our waitress was absolutely amazing. She was in her 30s or 40s and was extremely attentive. Our water and coffees were always topped up and the second we were done with our plates, she was there clearing them and asking us how it was. To begin, the food has always been amazing! Portions: perfect, taste: iconic, presentation: well done, service: horrible. I must say that it was extremely busy inside the restaurant but the way it was handled was not impressive. The "hostess"? who helped us told us the wait as if she didn't care, after that we got offered a seat at the bar by another lady who then (after we said sure) told us she can't anymore, which then we waited for 20 more minutes, ignored. I'll start with the positives. I've never had anything at this restaurant I didn't enjoy, arriba, yuccatan, crepes, fruit, lock stock and bagle, lunch panini's and salads. Mmmmm to all. They service is quick and they know the difference between over easy and over medium (as a place that makes breakfast should) they remember to give you your homefries well done if you ask for that, their freshly squeezed OJ is amazing! I have never had a bad server, I've never got given the wrong order or had any problems with any order I have placed. The servers seem to help each other out and your entire tables food comes at the same time. They will refill your coffee and don't act like they are forcing you out the door, they just igve fast service so you get your refill sooner and food sooner and thus turnover sooner. now less positives - you almost always have to wait in line. My way of solving this is I only ask one friend to go for breakfast with me, and specify I don't mind sitting at teh bar. Tables of 2 get sat faster as there is more of them. I also have a glass of milk or something to tie me over before leaving the house. it's quite loud - not the music or anything just busy so lots of tables, but hell it's breakfast, take some advil for that hangover and get on with your day. and the only thing I really think could be resolved that I don't like, there's drafts and a huge vent blowing air at the door which is really annoying if you are waiting to be seated and sitting under a breeze. read more

I understand all of the other comments about the wait on the weekend. I have been to Eggcetera about once a month for the past 3 years. On average I wait about 20 minutes on a Saturday morning between 10 and noon. If you are prepared for this it's no big deal. 80% of the time the food is great. Hot and fresh. 20% of the time my meal has arrived lukewarm. 90% of the time the service has been awesome! This past Saturday the service was extremely slow (15 mins to place order and server no where to be found for coffee refills). Overall it's 3 1/2 stars for me. read more

This is my third time here at Eggcetera, and I have had a different experience each time i come. The first time i was ready to write it off because i wasn't pleased with the food or the service. I came back and loved it. Unfortunately when i went there the other day, it was reminiscent of my first experience. The restaurant was busy and for a party of four we waited a reasonable time. Our food came out at a good pace, but the food just wasn't good. When you are getting a breakfast plate with eggs and potatoes and a protein, there is nothing fancy here, it should all be good. I rarely season my food in a restaurant because the people in the kitchen are the pros and they should be tasting everything that is coming out. There was a major seasoning issue with the potatoes. I salted them 3 times, and they still tasted just like boiled potatoes. With all of the emerging breakfast restaurants in town, Eggcetera really needs to step their game up. read more

We ordered a strawberry crape, It was supposed to come with strawberries cream cheese and icing sugar. We got the crape with just strawberries and the crape, when we questioned out server she said it was how it's supposed to come. After reviewing the menu again and showing the server which one we had ordered. She continued to blame it on us - that we in fact ordered it that way, even though it was clearly not on the menu at all. She didn't take it off our bill and didn't replace the meal with a new order and didn't seem to care. read more
