I have never experienced this before, but we were so excited to try this new place for my daughter's birthday breakfast. Ambiance is cute-similar to the restaurant that was there before. Walked in, only had to wait about 5 minutes to be sat. And then we just SAT. 20 minutes and no one came to the table and greeted us. A server finally walked into the room and went to a table that had just sat. We waited a few more minutes and then just left. These people couldn't have cared less. We tried this restaurant two days in a row during our stay in Dewey Beach. The food was really good both times, and so was the service. They give you generous portions and everything is seasoned pretty well. I had the Lox Omelet the first day and it was great and it had plenty of salmon throughout. The next day I had the steak and eggs which was good also. My husband loved the French toast. He also tried the Cape Omelette and loved it, and he doesn't usually eat omelettes. My son tried the burger which was a very nice size and had great flavor. We will definitely be back whenever we are in the area. read more

The food was marginal and grossly overpriced. It was 6 dollars for one piece of a side of meat. Wasn't worth going.

So, let's start with the good stuff... the food was pretty good - came out pipping hot & exactly as ordered. My wife got the veggie omelet with cheese & I got one of the specials, the huevos rancheros. Again, both very good. I also like the fact that the servers have the tablets, we can take care of the check & tip right there, table side. Lastly, let's be honest, in Rehoboth there are all kinds of traffic & parking issues & this place has a nice big parking lot. OK, so the things that need to be worked on... first, their competition, IMHO, is EGG (The gold standard for breakfast in Rehoboth) and the new Dewey Post in Dewey Beach. People LOVE sitting at the bar in both of those places because it's social & of course the food is so good. The bar feels like an after thought at Eggcellent. When we sat at the bar, there was a woman behind the bar, cutting celery & she never bothered looking up. She never said "your server will be right with you" or "can I get you a drink" - she just kept to her chores, leaving us to wonder if someone was going to wait on us. (Before we left, a man sat at the bar, by himself & asked us if they had service at the bar!) I know that during "the season" it won't make any difference how the help treats people (btw, once we got a server, she was great!) but if Eggcellent wants to compete the rest of the year, they might want to raise their service game a bit! And, make their bar someplace that people want to sit. read more

We had a fabulous brunch at the Rehoboth location last Sunday! We were searching around for good burgers and saw Eggcellent mentioned several times so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant itself feels cozy and inviting. It is tastefully decorated and I liked the nice holiday touches. Our server was friendly and attentive which is always a plus. I ordered the Southwest Burrito Grande and my boyfriend ordered the Eggcellent Burger. The burrito should be listed as GIGANTE instead of grande because it was huge! lol So big that I ate some in the restaurant, again for breakfast the next day and again for lunch! And I loved every bite. Everything was prepared perfectly and I truly enjoyed it. It came with delicious, very crispy fries that I dipped in peach hot sauce they had on the table. That sauce was so delicious that we bought a bottle to take home! My boyfriend also very much enjoyed his burger. One small criticism was anytime he orders a burger with an egg on top, the yolk is always runny. His egg was cooked through - this could very well just be how they prepare them for their burgers here so next time we know to specifically ask for a runny egg, no big deal. He had been craving a good burger for a while and he said the Eggcellent Burger really hit the spot! This is a relatively new restaurant that is still finding its legs. The food is good, but double check your order: we've had a mistake in three visits. The staff is very hard working, so be kind to them. It's a bit basic, but shows real promise as a new favorite. With a name like this, you can expect its popular for breakfast! We haven't had long waits, but it's usually two or three of us. It's a smaller restaurant, so large groups may have a wait. We've never tried to make a reservation; we're always quickly seated. They're very good at dietary issues and can warn you off any dishes that can't be made without certain ingredients. I've had no issues here with celiac. I found the portions very large! read more

I will start out by saying the food was relatively good however extremely expensive two eggs with home fries $10? A cup of coffee $3.50. Our waitress was horrible, slow forgetful and apparently terrible hearing because everything that was said to her. She said she didn't hear, I asked for water didn't get any however, my husband did he ask as well we ended up sharing I asked for ciabatta toast she said she didn't hear so when she brought me the toast she charged me for it as an extra even though toast was supposed to come with my meal that toast should've been $.50 extra but she charged me $2.50 as if it was an entire side order her mistake FYI it wasn't even ciabatta and it was cooked on the grill with oil. I didn't even get butter ....breakfast for two just eggs meat toast no cocktails $50 so to me definitely not worth going there ever again. read more

Food was the BEST!! Had the Florentine omelette. Portions were average. I was appalled at paying $3.50 for a soda, but I guess inflation and all? We had a lovely experience with their wait staff as well. Service was great. Our waiter was very helpful. But he couldn't solve this... The Pumpkin Pancakes are descriptively misleading and false advertising. THEY ARE JUST PUMPKIN FREE BUTTERMILK PANCAKES with cinnamon dusted on top They contain NO PUMPKIN SPICE. Pumpkin spice contains cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and ginger. So adding just cinnamon is not the same. Plus the cinnamon only covers the parts of pancakes that are exposed when displayed on the plate or about half of surface area altogether. For the no pumpkin and no pumpkin spice they charge a premium of $2 dollars. So let's call them what they really are CINNAMON BUTTERMILK PANCAKES or FAUX-KIN PANCAKES. My wife makes pumpkins pancakes on about a monthly basis. Not very hard, Just add some pumpkin and real pumpkin spice. She also adds bacon crumbles and homemade granola bits. After you've had the real thing, faux-kin pancakes are insult to the name. read more

We have been here a few times. It's I nice little breakfast place in the heart of old Lewes, a bit off the beaten path, just across from the flower park. I had a nice eggs Benedict this time. The owner serves you and is friendly and helpful. Food is good quality and we expect to be back again. Today was the third time I've visited Eggcellent and every meal has been great! The plates are generous, the food is fresh and delicious and the staff are very pleasant and accommodating. I have yet to try a cocktail there, but the bar looks very inviting as well. Strongly recommend stopping in for breakfast or brunch as the selection easily rivals eateries downtown, but the wait is not an issue as they have lots of seating and parking! read more

Very nice place with high quality food and a broad selection of interesting choices. On our last day of vacation and splurged on the crab and avocado dishes. They were chock full of delicious real crab and everything was very fresh and delicious. The prices reflect the quality so be aware of that, but I would definitely recommend them! read more

Went in on a rainy Sunday around 11:30, the wait wasn't terrible... maybe 15 minutes. Once seated the server promptly took our order and the food was great, my husband ordered from the breakfast menu and I ordered from the lunch menu. Stopped in for breakfast this morning, arrived just before the rush. Requested a booth which they could not accommodate as we were a party of two and the only both available seated six. We were seated along the wall which was fine. Several other parties were seated, waited on and served and we still hadn't seen a waitress. The hostess came by and I questioned if there was a waitress assigned to our table, she indicated there was and she was aware we were there. After another five minutes a couple came in and was seated next to us. Shortly after that the waitress came over and took their order. We left. I don't know what their problem with us was, we've eaten there several times in the past and enjoyed it. I doubt we'll go back after this episode though. read more

Breakfast tacos were just OK. Thought my meal was quite overpriced -- paid $17 for those two tacos (came with sides of black beans and whipped guacamole) and $4 for a small glass of cranberry juice.
