Pork belly in tomatillo sauce with chile relleno omelette, mole and avocado

Delicious food!! Sometimes there's a wait but it's always worth it, they have redone the menu a few years ago and all the new dishes are fantastic

Classic breakfast diner environment, friendly and attentive staff with large portions of food. Everything was comforting and pleasant.

Service was great! The food was delicious and great portions! My husband and I like to share an entree as our appetites are smaller these days and this was perfect for that. We ordered a bowl of fruit which was exceptionally small for the price, but it tasted delicious! The chicken theme throughout the restaurant was very cute!

Excellent comfort food with a cozy vibe I came here solo on a Sunday around 11 am, so it was packed, but the staff did a great job keeping up. The bartender was knowledgeable and thorough, which was much appreciated!

Chile Relleno Breakfast Tacos were so worth the wait. 5 stars for the mole alone.

Any decent breakfast spot is guaranteed to be crowded on a weekend in Hood River, and Egg River, due to its proximity to downtown, is definitely on that list. Still our wait wasn't terribly long, and was worth it. My Chile Relleno breakfast tacos were an absolute flavor bomb, with the chorizo stuffed peppers playing off the mole rojo like long lost friends, smoky with just the right amount of heat. Nice portion size, too. As you probably guessed, you can get almost any egg-influenced dish you can think of here, from scrambles to omelets to Benedict's and beyond, and it all looked so good coming out of the kitchen (we were sitting right by it). The place is definitely cozy inside, like a small cabin with a diner vibe, with a bunch of wooden tables and booths scattered throughout and kitschy signs and tchotchkes tucked into the corners, but it is definitely cheery. As I mentioned, it gets pretty crowded on weekends and parking is tight, so get there early. Despite the hubbub, our server was efficient and friendly, so there's a very good chance we'll be back. Count me as a happy customer.

Keep driving!!

Average diner. French toast Average. $3 scrambled egg uninspired. Scrambled needed flavor so requested salsa. Offered two kinds and settled on Pico de gallo. Server (on her own) went ahead and brought the other one too. When we got the bill were not only surprised to see $1.50 for the pico (no mention of an additional charge) but also the salsa the server brought on her on. Complained to staff. One said they would remove it but the male waiter said no. Inflation!! So, we took it of his tip. Principle!! Definitely enjoyed Bette's Place much better!!

Veggie Benedict

Absolutely amazing food and super attentive service in a fun restaurant with a view of Mt Adams in the distance. Food was superb and I highly recommend giving them a try for breakfast. I had the veggie Benedict with avocado with perfect poached eggs. My husband had the chili rellenos tacos which were out-of-this-world scrumptious. Seating inside or out. Parking available also across the street.

Bloody Hangover

Great find! Large portions, good flavor, and delicious Bloody Hangover. Staff was friendly and attentive.

Definitely not marionberry pie

Plenty of parking in a lot across the street and pleasant staff. I'm sure the breakfast experience is amazing but I ended up here in the evening. Food was ok but ordered a slice of marionberry pie and was given strawberry rhubarb. When I pointed it out to our waitress, her exact response was "But the cook said it was marionberry." Not the end of the world, but definitely annoying as it was not what I ordered and also didn't taste good.

Egg River is a classic brunch spot. My friends and I arrived around 8:30 on a Sunday, the place was busy but we sat down quickly. Most of the staff is quite young about high school age, they were all friendly and attentive. The menu does include gluten free toast, but the items are not clearly labeled if they are gluten free or not. FYI, if you are gluten sensitive, stay away from county gravy as this is typically not gluten free. The restaurant has homey decoration like you would see at your grandmas house. The food was just alright. The orange juice was a bit watery and not very flavorful. I ordered a vegetable scramble and was pretty underwhelmed with the dish. Not a ton of flavor. Good portion size. My partner ordered the sopes that they had for a breakfast special, he enjoyed his dish. We were a little confused by the random chicken wing in the center of the plate. Overall pretty decent breakfast spot.

Do they take reservations?

No, they do not. This is a breakfast/lunch joint that is primarily known for their breakfasts. I have always gone a little bit late for breakfast or early for lunch and still had breakfast. I haven't had a problem getting in.

Came here as a direct result of a recommendation by a fellow Yelper when looking for good brewpubs…read more So made a stop in Hood River for lunch during our 3 day trip to Portland, after seeing some waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. Full Sail is a very well respected micro brewery, founded in 1987 and the first craft brewery in the Pacific Northwest to bottle its beer. It's flagship Amber has won numerous awards, including recently in 2025 a Gold Medal at the NY International Beer Competition (along with the brewery being named Oregon Brewery of the Year). It has a large line-up of beers brewed inhouse There is a large paid parking lot across the street at $1.25 per hour, payable via credit card through nearby kiosks. Once entering, there is a long hallway, walking past the working areas of the brewery, until getting to the restaurant area. It has views of I-84, and further the Columbia River. The outdoor patio was not open (drizzling outside), and it was pretty crowded inside but we got lucky to be seated at a table near windows with a view. There have lunch and happy hour specials during weekdays. The lunch special is 1/2 of a sandwich (grilled cheese this day) along with a cup of their soup of the day (tomato). I was super excited about the Amber, so got a pint of that ($8) and pint of the Queen Wheat ($8). My wife enjoyed the Queen Wheat but didn't care for the Amber. I really liked the Amber, making me realize why I had drunk so much of that style earlier in my life when in Wisconsin, before switching over to wheat beer. There selection of beer is great, and a flight is the way to go ($18 of 6 5oz samplers). Buffalo Hot Wings ($17) - a decent amount of simply deep fried hot wings in a classic Frank's red hot buffalo sauce. Pretzel Bread Sticks ($13) - 4 large, warmed pretzels. Should have gotten the beer cheese to go with it. Salmon Fish & Chips ($20) - 3 small pieces of beer battered salmon, very dense and definitely tasting of wild caught salmon. It came with good fries and a really good, fresh cole slaw. There is a small refrigerator stocked with cans of certain beers for sale. Unfortunately, we were dismissively told that they were out of the Amber bottles for sale. So after our meal, went to the front to purchase directly from the front staff. Their Japanese rice beer from their Session lineup ($10 for a six pack) was available and what we brought back home with us.

Definitely the standout of the table for me. Service was friendly and expedient, which I always appreciate in the morning when everyone is trying to get caffeinated and out the door. My companions ordered the protein bowl, which was a hearty mix of grains and grilled vegetables with your choice of tofu or egg. It leaned a little bland flavor-wise, but it did exactly what it needed to do: provided a filling, healthy base for a full day of activity in Hood River. Not every dish was a knockout, but overall it was a very solid breakfast spot with fair pricing at about $18 per dish.

The server did not earn that high of a tip.

The atmosphere is casual and inviting but the food, both quality and presentation, steals the show. We tried a gin cocktail that was as beautiful as it was inventive. We followed this with the brussel sprouts salad which was lightly roasted but still tasted and looked green in the most delightful way, with some kind of light dressing that celebrates the vegetables in the salad medley without overpowering them. We took Calvin's recommendation and ordered the special which was a three mushroom fettuccine: it was perfection. The pasta was served al dente, the mushrooms included shitake, hedgehog, and one other and all had a unique flavor that stood out with each bite. The pasta sauce was buttery but somehow almost effervescent, embracing but not suffocating, with just enough cheese to know it's there but not enough to have it overpower the dish. At this point we didn't think the meal could get any better but then we ordered the pear, huckleberry, and pluot sorbet made at Celilo and we're now committed to coming back. The sorbet featured locally sourced Bosc pears and that flavor may have been my favorite as it was unlike any other sorbet I have ever tasted. All were sweet but complex. Simply an amazing dining experience that I recommend to anyone fortunate enough to get a table here!

We got there super early and opted to sit outside since the weather was so nice. The service was fantastic and our waitress was super friendly. We discovered that she has ties to KC so I always love that. I started with an Adeline blackberry sour. It's pretty to look at and so delicious to drink. Sours in Oregon are hands down the best. I wish we had more of it in KC but I highly recommend that you get sours and ciders if you're in the PNW. For lunch I ordered the Club Sandwich: Sweetheart ham, hickory-smoked turkey, Tillamook white cheddar, Applewood smoked bacon; topped with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayo. It normally comes on sourdough but I swapped it out for ciabatta. First off, it's a HUGE club sandwich. Lots of meat that had amazing flavor. Not some sad deli sandwich at all. The ciabatta had great chew and complemented the sandwich perfectly. No complaints here! Did I eat it all? Yes, and that was a great plan because it kept me going for the next 24 hours that ended up being a cluster that resulted in no food being available. Sandwiches come with chips or a garden salad but I opted for a different side with an up charge. Let's talk about the Oregon Blue Salad: spring mix, dried cranberries, honeycrisp apples, Rogue Creamery Oregon Blue crumbles, and maple candied walnuts; tossed in an apple cider vinaigrette. So GOOD! You can get it by itself and it would make a great meal. Everything was so fresh. Again, not a single complaint. If you are ever in the area, please stop in. Everything was amazing and I can't wait until I return. Double Mountain is on my list to come back to! Highly recommend!
