Very delicious! Everything we ordered was yummy and everyone was happy! Favorites were: extra blueberry pancakes, pumpkin bread French toast, and the chili omelet. It's a good restaurant, nothing above average. The food and service were both good, but somewhat bland. Apart from a creative name and hometown feel it tends to blend in a little with most of the Waffle House style restaurants that scatter highways everywhere. The cash only expectation is annoying in a place where tourists frequent. It's not quite "dive" or "ma and pa" enough for the inconvenience. If you're looking for a quick, consistent, and affordable breakfast spot this place is exactly what you want. But understand what it is before you drop by or you'll definitely be disappointed. Service was amazing and the biscuits and gravy was the best I ever had. Biscuit was generous size, lightly grilled with crispy edges and not thick or over-floury tasting. Gravy was generously smothering the biscuit with finely ground sausage and packed with flavor - maybe some buttermilk - definitely butter. Very savory (not flour-heavy tasting) with just the right amount of pepper. Home fries were simple but cooked to slight crispimess outside and soft on the inside and seasoned well. Eggs were cooked perfectly "medium" as requested and everything arrived at the table tasting piping hot and fresh! Great value. Will return. read more

Who wouldn't love a musical-themed breakfast joint in Maine? My group of 6 arrived at 8:30 AM on a Friday morning and were surprised to see people already waiting outside. That means it must be good. Luckily, the restaurant is pretty big, so we were seated within 10 minutes. The interior of the place is a bit kitschy with musical posters gracing the walls. I like it. The service was friendly and casual, with the waiters frequently coming around with coffee pots asking if we needed to be topped off. Much appreciated at 9 in the morning. None of us could decide whether to go with savory or sweet (the eternal breakfast dilemma) so someone had the ingenious idea of ordering 3 different pancakes for the table. Like a breakfast dessert. I'm all for it. I love burritos. Especially of the breakfast variety. And this one did not let me down. It was filled with cheese, eggs, green peppers, onions, and sausage. Salsa and sour cream came on the side along with home fries. Super filling and satisfying. The stand-out of the meal was the pancakes. We ordered 3 tempting flavors: blueberry, almond joy, and cranberry almond (which was the special of the day). The blueberry was served with a perfect little ball of blueberry butter on top, which was simply divine. They used tiny Maine blueberries, so it tasted very fresh. And oh my. The almond joy pancake sincerely gave me joy. It combined chocolate chips, coconut, and almonds in a perfect pancake package served with coconut maple syrup on the side. Honestly, I'd much rather consume these breakfast babies than the candy bar. The cranberry almond pancake was also good but had less flavor and fillings so was just not on the same level as the other two. I'd skip it next time. If you wake up in Maine, suffering from hunger pains, and wish to consume breakfast while viewing a poster of Singing in the Rain, then don't refrain... eat here! read more

We've never had such an awful experience. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude to us. We didn't even eat at the restaurant. We left because she was so rude. The restaurant only takes cash and we weren't aware of this. So we took a moment to discuss if anyone in our party had cash. When we turned back to say we could do it, the lady said oh you'll have to wait for another table now since you keep changing your mind. When the entire experience had taken less than a minute. It was so ridiculous. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

We had brunch here this morning. They have their own parking lot. It's a large, bright place, thanks to all the windows letting in natural light. There are four long benches outside for people to wait when it's busy, two of them w/ memorial plaques. We were greeted warmly, seated in a comfortable booth and given menus. There was no particular wait because it's the Tuesday after Labor Day. Our drink orders were taken, iced coffee for Alan, hot tea for me. They have those little containers of half and half in a bowl and Sweet n Low, Equal or sugar packets in a square container. No Splenda, no Stevia. Mugs for tea are generous but not outsized. Just right. I decided on the Lobster Benedict and Alan decided on the pancake platter, which comes w/ two pancakes and two eggs. and added blueberries to the pancakes. When our meals arrived we traded bites. My eggs were poached perfectly, the yolks runny, the Hollandaise was well balanced, there was a good amount of lobster meat and the breakfast potatoes were just the way I like them, w/o a lot of seasoning and a solid potato taste. I liked my taste of Alan's pancake too. The restaurant wasn't full but it wasn't empty either. An older couple arrived and was seated near us. Clearly they were regulars because their server--and ours, Milos--brought the man a glass of orange juice as they sat down and pretty much knew what they were going to order. I loved that. There are two bathrooms toward the back, both gender neutral, although only one is marked that way. As people have noted, the place is cash only, a problem only for the entitled. You pay at the cash register and they have an ATM if you lack cash. read more

Huge disappointment on the place. We are staying at the Hampton Inn, where breakfast is included. After 4 mornings of the same thing, we opted to go out as we heard this was the place to go for breakfast. I guess I should've checked here first. There was a little wait, not too bad. Just as we walked in, learned it was cash only and the ATM in the lobby was broken. We had just enough $$ to cover our bill and tip. Hubby had a meatlover omelette that he said was good. Both kids had chocolate chip pancakes, and they liked them. I had a veggie omelette and it was blah. All the veggies were seriously wilted, as in, not fresh, but likely frozen used. Also, it was supposed to have cheddar cheese but the cheese had no flavor and was white. My guess is, it was mozzarella. The potatoes had a funky seasoning on them that was not to my liking. The toast was overdone with very little butter. Out the door for 4 people, $46, and mediocre at best. read more

I asked the sever for a little more and that is what I got for a charge of $3.50. I waited over fifteen minutes for that ounce of gravy. What you see is one of their tender, flaky biscuits with romaine, tomatoes, avocado, a scrambled egg, bacon, & melted Swiss--topped with their lemon aioli! Holy Heaven Batman!! Get it!! We've been going back almost every morning since our arrival last week... Barry is thoroughly enjoying their lobster omelette, served with the Best home fries and marbled rye toast. Their coffee defies description; tasty and STRONG! It reminds me of our days in Germany, rich and robust java. I've not been disappointed as I tried several different dishes, Home Made Hash (Just like when I was a kid at the Deluxe in Malone, NY) with eggs over easy, next day Chicken Fried Steak (Just like in Kentucky!) and today the BLT with avocado and lemon garlic aioli (OMG!). The line forms pretty early; so getting there before 9 AM is recommended. Wait staff are fun and friendly, always on point to make certain you have what you need. This is our first time staying in Ogunquit; certainly not the last. What a great place for breakfast/lunch. WOW! read more

I'll start by saying eggs Benedict is my ultimate breakfast and I order whenever it's on the menu. Egg & I have several variations of this dish on the menu. I stopped in on a Monday and ordered eggs Roberto which basically swaps out the traditional Canadian bacon for sausage patties. Great! Different variation! Overall, very good BUT the poached eggs were slightly overcooked and the velvety runny yolk (CRUCIAL FOR EGGS BENEDICT) was somewhat lost. Not a huge problem so I returned the next morning for redemption and ordered the lobster benedict. The first portion was perfect! Lovely flowing yolk to combine for a perfect bite! Unfortunately, when I got to the second portion, the kitchen hammered the poached egg into the ground! The yolk was completely cooked through the exact opposite of what you want for an eggs Benedict. if you're going to offer a poached egg dish on your menu, then please make sure your kitchen staff knows how to properly cook a poached egg! My husband, who never complains about food, couldn't eat the hash that he said was horrible. We usually eat at the Maine Dinner and this time we decided to try something else. My family and I went to Egg and I this morning, and it was by far one of the worst experiences i've had at a restaurant. As soon as we walked in door, the lady at the front desk demanded we wait outside in 20 degree weather- though there was plenty of space inside to wait. Once we finally sat down, we noticed the ATM. Obviously we had to pay in cash, so we went to the atm to check. It said "out of service", so we asked the woman at the front desk if it was out of order. She said no, so we let her know it wasn't working. she then proceeded to tell us "then it's out of order" in a sarcastic and rude tone. my family and i immediately got up and left. i suggest she learns some manners, or you find someone new to greet your customers. would not recommend eating here. especially if you're looking for a relaxed breakfast. read more

Usually make 3-4 trips to the Egg and I restaurant while I'm on vacation in Maine. The breakfast and lunch is outstanding, all homemade, usually I order either for breakfast i'll have Eggs Florentine, Berry pancakes, or Two Eggs,bacon, toast,potatoes. For lunch I'll either have the homemade chicken salad club or the soup of the day. Meals always taste great, lots of choices on the menu such as omelets, french toast, pancakes, eggs benidict, oatmeal, tuna, chicken salad, soup, burgers reubans. Service is always excellent, staff is very tentive and do check backs to make sure everybodys happy with there meal. the restaurant only excepts cash, but there is an ATM machine located inside the restaurant. Food prices are very resonable to as well. read more

Under new management (or should I say MIS-management). We waited well over an hour before our food was on the table! That's not counting the time we waited for a seat. What's so special - the Aunt Jemima syrup? I've seen the lines here for years; finally on this year's vacation, we queued up. I can tell everything I need to know about a breakfast place by the syrup on the table. They had the fake crap - like Aunt Jemima's. Really? Moment of irony: They were selling the "real stuff" maple syrup in a glass case at the front of the restaurant. Come on!!! Maine is a maple-producing state. Buy from your neighbors, instead of having your guests pour chemicals on their pancakes! That being said, food was serviceable but not great. My daughter said the eggs in her omelet tasted a little "plastic-y". My blueberry pancakes contained lots of berries and blueberry butter. A nice touch which let me avoid using the aforementioned fake syrup. Won't bother to go back. read more

After so many times of vacationing in Ogunquit, I finally got to drop by Egg & I to check out their breakfast. I went around 1130am, perfect timing as it was not packed or busy at all! The whole place is very big, and clean. I ordered the Breakfast Sampler, 2 of everything. It was good, like very decent good. However my french toast was a little soggy, felt almost undercooked. My friend's pancakes were awesome! They had a few options on their menu, I'm sure the other meals taste good. Overall not a bad place to stop by for breakfast. read more
