Ask the Community - Edward Beiner

Do they repair glasses?

Yes, I am a current customer of theirs since they carry my specific brand. I turned it in for repairs, and they got it done in 4 days - including weekend days. They are pricey, but again, they have the brands. Usually, the repair technician starts… Read more

I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience at Southwest Orlando Eye Care…read more Before my appointment, I completed all required paperwork and provided my insurance information in advance. Yet when I arrived, they couldn't find my insurance in their system. After unnecessary back-and-forth, they eventually located it -- something that should have been handled before I walked in the door. It only got worse from there. Once they realized I needed a full eye evaluation and assessment of my scleral lenses, they informed me I had been scheduled with the wrong doctor. My options were to either wait another hour or reschedule entirely. Since I had already driven an hour each way, I agreed to wait. Then I was told the doctor only spends 20 minutes per patient -- and that if I actually needed scleral lens fitting or proper evaluation, I would have to come back on another day. At that point it became very clear: their priority was protecting the doctor's schedule, not providing patient-centered care. There was zero ownership of the scheduling mistake, zero attempt to accommodate the situation meaningfully, and no concern for the fact that I had invested two hours of driving time. Healthcare is supposed to be about patients. Instead, I felt like an inconvenience to their calendar. This was a complete waste of my time. If you value efficiency, professionalism, and being treated like a patient rather than a scheduling problem, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

The receptionist said that their schedule was full, but that she'd ask the doctor if he could squeeze me in. After inquiring, she asked how quickly we could get there, as the doctor agreed to see me right away. I was relieved and grateful that he was willing to see me. After arriving at the office, we filled out paperwork and were quickly called back. We first met with Victoria. She was so kind and helpful with my situation. She asked pertinent questions, and did everything she could to keep me as comfortable as possible. She performed a few tests, and was patient and caring in doing so, as I was very uncomfortable. She was able to resolve my concern, and went to get the doctor to complete my exam. Shortly after, Dr. Nowell came in and completed the exam. He was also very kind, and he confirmed that there were no additional concerns. Overall, I was so appreciative of my experience with this office. The doctor and his staff were compassionate and kind, and they performed a thorough exam that I was relieved about when we left. I will gladly return to this office for future routine exams, and would recommend them to family and friends. If you are looking for an eye care provider in the area, consider this office!

I don't know why I keep giving this place second chances. Is it something about the optical…read moreemployee and their snobby attitude, or the incompetent doctor who only wants to sell me disposable contacts when I want yearly wear? But I digress. Today, I decided to give it another try, but before I spend my hard-earned money, I want to ask a simple question: Do they do dry eye tests? The doctor asked me to do one to see if I have Sjögren's syndrome, and that's one of the tests I need to take. Well, the snobby optical employee said they are not going to take either of my insurances, my eye or medical, and it's going to cost me out of pocket. I asked, "Okay, so how much?" She said, "Sit down and wait for the doctor to come out so you can ask her." So I decided to wait. Finally, she came out; they decided to have a Sunday brunch chat instead of answering my simple question. Then the doctor walked away. Mind you, other people came in for their appointments, and the same snobby employee was super friendly with them, but to me, she wanted to have an attitude. I followed my instincts and left. I know when I am not welcome, and every time I come to this place, I feel burned. This is my last chance with this place. I can't spend over $1,000 and be treated like I'm getting my yearly exam and glasses for free.

This is the second exam I've had here at this location and I have nothing but good things to say…read moreabout the doctor and the employees here. Today, I had an appointment with the independent optometrist Dr.Linda John-Finn. She is absolutely amazing and very personable! She's the best eye doctor I've ever had! She's extremely knowledgeable and professional. Making the appointment was so easy, I made it online and then shortly after I received a confirmation email with the time and date. For some reason it didn't make my husbands appointment but I called to see if I could get him in as well and unfortunately there were no appointments but she did call me the following day saying she could get us both in at 12p! So the fact the front receptionist remembered me was so thoughtful! After the eye exam you can look around the VisionWorks area and get your contacts and look for glasses if you are interested. I can't wait to come back for my next exam! Definitely recommended!

I won't go into a long story, other than saying I was duped and wasted $600 on cheap plastic lenses when explicitly asked from polycarbonate. Then, they won't offer a consistent policy when pressed for answers. Just him and haw behind one stooge or another. They need to have a professionally trained corporate manager at each store. Particularly if they are seeking high end customers. Their competitors have them flanked in the mall. Go elsewhere!!

I wasn't liking any of the frames a few months ago at VisionWorks, so I decided to see what LensCrafters had. LensCrafters, in my opinion, has a lot more versatility and more brands (especially couture) than VisionWorks. I found a lovely pair of pink Burberry glasses and Stephanie worked with me and actually got the price down with discounts to what I would have paid out of pocket using my insurance at VisionWorks. I wish I had known years ago that LensCrafters competed so well with other places because I would have been buying them here all along! Stephanie was great; very friendly! I had my glasses in a week and I was so pleased! They barely needed adjusting at all. I'll be back here again in the fall of this year to get a new pair - hoping they have the blue Burberry frames I took pics of and put here on Yelp cause I'm really feeling those!
