Recently I needed a new prescription filled quickly as I was going out of state. I went to this location because of their stated turnaround time. (I live in Longwood so was a bit of a drive). I found every single person to be cordial, respectful, and competent. It was probably the best experience I've had for eyeglasses. The manager laughed at me n employee smirking knowing they pulled a fast one after I paid. I went in today to get eye exam and my eyes checked. I wanted my prescription and asked person who was showing me around I want my prescription and the distance between my eyes. The person told me yes I can. Paid and asked for my prescription and my eye distance they refused and said it policy. I asked to be speak to the manager and explain why did her employee say they provide the distance when they don't. And explain that i asked several times and it is underhanded to do something like that. The manager said I apologized and began smirking and laughing at me. I've been coming here for a while but this positive experience really stood out. I happened to come pretty early for my appointment and they got me checked in and started with the exams very promptly. All the staff members were incredible and friendly, even complimenting my new 'look' as I picked my glasses up. The retail manager, Sthefany, was very accommodating while helping me choose the polycarbonate lenses and added on a great discount for the frames and lenses. From beginning when I called to make an appt with Anthony to walking in and being greeted by Jani having and eye exam and ending with Odette truly the most pleasant professional people I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. *Beware* If you have insurance make sure the frames you are purchasing are purchased at the going rate because they triple charged me for the frames I bought through my insurance company, which means not only did I get ripped off, my insurance company got ripped off as well. I did my best to let the insurance company know and never got a response back, so it may be fairly easy for this company to over charge on frames. I would give a negative number if I could. My dealings with management and a few of their employees was a completely unpleasant and unethical experience for me. I purchased a high end designer pair of frames and progressive lenses through insurance and I told the optician immediately after trying the glasses on that they felt way too strong. She didn't acknowledge me, would not listen to me and in fact pushed me to give it a week or two . Well, after two weeks of repeatedly coming back to the store, they finally admitted the prescription was wrong as evidenced by getting another exam by the other optometrist, which clearly showed a mistake on the prescription. The original exam was stronger than the second exam. They tried to downplay it through conversation with me, as if the prescription wasn't too much of a difference. They tried to shame me and I wasn't having it. After going through that very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience, I decided and was allowed to get a larger frame because I was told a larger frame may help me see better with the progressive lenses, more field of view. One of the opticians recommended I try a certain brand of frames on and I was told they were high end designer frames and the price tag reflected that. I ended up liking the frames and when I picked up my glasses I should have realized they really weren't designer frames when he told me he didn't have a designer case for the frames. Fast track about three weeks ahead, every time I picked up the frames I wondered why the arms looked like maybe they were cheaply made and so I did a search on the web and found out these frames were three times less than what I paid. Now I understand marking up a frame but the price I paid was grotesquely marked up and I called another location of the same store to find out what they were listed at and was told the frame's cost. The cost was marked up more than $100 than on the web, but not grossly over marked up of what I paid. And this the same company, just a different location! When I brought this up to management from the store I bought it from she told me point blank "you chose these frames." Actually I didn't, the optician handed them to me to try on, he recommended them to me and then I chose them. Did they slap on a higher price tag because they knew I had insurance? I don't know. I asked who the regional manager was and who the owners were and I did some research on the Internet and found out this is a privately owned company. Based on my experience and based on reviews I've read and based on a couple experiences from others when I was in the store, I think this is a very shady business and I will never ever go back. Every single time I dealt with these people there was an unpleasant feeling inside of me and I should've ran the other way. Because life is stressful enough right now with everything that's going on in the world I'm not going to fight this. The least I can do is write my experience and maybe this will help somebody else. P.S. there are machine identifier marks on my lenses. read more

Do your homework. The sticker price on the pair of glasses I purchased was $499. I was in a rush and just trusted the frames were crazy expensive and proceeded. They "gave" me a "$255 discount" on my whole purchase, which at the end of the day is a joke. Same frames, from Ray Ban's own online store.... $240. Spend a few more seconds, and they are available at other retailers for between $120-135. I emailed them about this to give them an opportunity to explain, no reply. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I've been coming here for 7 years and have never had any issues until last week. I purchased contacts and was told I could return them and when I called to ask to return them (I haven't received them, picked them up, or opened them) Melissa who is extremely rude and condescending told me that wasn't allowed; but two women who assisted me when I did my yearly exam told me I could. I will never give this place another dollar after this. And I highly recommend you don't either they do not put the customer first and would rather argue with a long term customer over making the customer happy. I work in a luxury customer service atmosphere and this would just never fly. I contacted other 20/20 locations who told me as long as it's unopened I could return them. So, I was lured in by their "buy one, get one free" deal. Apparently they have about 30 thousand different deals, because when I sat down with the salesperson (there's a problem right there - a salesperson) she grabbed a scratch piece of paper and started doodling different numbers and different deals and saying things like, "...but if you get the upgraded lens then I'll take care of you." After the usual dark room, puff-in-the-eyes tests with the assistant, the doctor took me in for my exam. He made me look through a total of 3 different lenses and had me read the chart, then sent me on my way. I was a little nervous about how quickly he wrapped it up. Hopefully it's just because my eyes haven't changed much since my last exam, and he read the Rx off my glasses. Within 3 hours, I had my 2 new pairs (sunglasses and regular glasses). I was very impressed by how quickly they had them ready. The price wasn't so bad, but I wish I didn't feel like I had walked into a used car lot. How are you going to beat $129 for a pair of bifocal glasses with the exam? At $129 they may not be the latest trend or the best looking thing on the market, but if you need glasses that work well when you don't have much money this is the place to go. After reading all the bad reviews I was a bit hesitant about visiting this place. My decision was mostly out of convenience due to the fact that I was able to get an appointment pretty soon and I had some time to handle getting my glasses. At around 330 pm I was given an appointment for 430. I got there, filled out the paperwork and started waiting. Not too long after I was called to do the initial tests, which took maybe 5 minutes. Then I waited some more. At about 520 I was told that I should be seen within the next 20 minutes. The same thing was said every time I asked how much longer I would have to wait. A couple of girls were very understanding and apologetic about my wait time, others had no sense of ownership or responsibility and just blamed it on the Doctor, even after I said I didn't care why I had waited so long but rather wanted to know if I'd be seen. Eventually I left having wasted only 2+ hrs of my time. I decided that If at 620 they were still telling me that it would be about 20 minutes I would end up spending the night there. Nobody seemed to care that I left either. Their frame selection was Ok, my wife had a hard time finding something she liked. I did find a couple which I liked. As far as price goes I couldn't really tell. I can say that I'm definitely not going back there, I'd much rather keep my wasted time to a minimum. There are some negative reviews on here about this place, but I can't say that I relate to any of them. I've been coming here for my optical needs for about 8 years now, and I've never had a problem. Sure, they don't have the fanciest glasses out there, but they do have a pretty wide selection, and you should be able to find something akin to what you're looking for. For $149, you get two pairs of glasses (buy one, get one free) and an eye exam. My vision is gradually getting worse, so I have to come in for an exam at least once a year to update my prescription. I've been in here on weekends and weekdays, and I've never had to wait long. Longest I've had to wait was maybe around 15 minutes, but you can schedule an appointment if you have a busy day ahead of you. If you're just coming in for an adjustment or something, somebody is usually right there to help you once you walk in. The eye doctors have all been nice and informative. They tell you exactly what each test is for and are pretty friendly. The employees on the floor are also very friendly. They can help you narrow your search down for frames, and they helpfully explain the different types of lenses you can get. read more

BLUF: Go somewhere--ANYWHERE else. PRO's: The optometrist and optometric tech w whom I worked were personable, efficient, and attempted to give me the best options for my budget. CON's: 1. Expect "Bait & Switch" to be standard tactic here. Coupons, etc. are somehow not applicable to whatever you need. 2. Store is NOT easy to get to. Unless you are coming straight down southbound 436, you will have to go past the store, turn onto a sidestreet, then make a U-turn and turn L onto 436 southbound. In my overall experience, not worth it. 3. FRAME SELECTION IS VERY LIMITED, especially in the price range most vision plans cover. 4. THEY USE A DIFFERENT () ALLOWED PRICE SCHEDULE than I printed off UHC Vision site this morning. The Spectravision fee table they were prepared to charge me was $30+ higher on all the "upgrades" than UHC's. 5. The store Manager and apparent optician for the store, (who will remain un-named) is arbitrary, inflexible, unbearably arrogant, and has zero interpersonal and sales closure skills. Or maybe he just doesn't like educated, articulate middle-aged Anglo males (or maybe his is an anti-Veteran issue). Or maybe he feels that his store cannot compete w online eyeglass sources, and is so threatened by them, that he will not share w me a standard measurement--clearly anticompetitive, arbitrary and capricious behavior in his part. Despite all the goodwill that his tech and other staff had built over the last 90 minutes of my visit to his store, he squandered that within 30 seconds, and killed a $450 deal, and ANY future business w 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore, from me or mine. [20/20 Owner or Regional Mgr--take note!]. If he can be such a jerk over a simple measurement that he had to do anyway, how would he handle defects, warranty issues, etc. From many of the reviews where that was an issue--VERY BADLY! BOTTOM LINE: STAY AWAY FROM THIS JOINT. This was about my only option, given the EXTREMELY restrictive network of United HealthCare Vision plan. So I drove all the way crosstown just to get a new glasses Rx, and the least costly glasses I could that would meet my needs. I am a disabled Vet, not working currently d/t a flare in my disabling condition, so finances are very tight right now, and I told them that, and if possible, get a a backup pair within budget, using their coupns if necessary. We went all the way through the process. Of course, none of their coupons or special promotions were valid w insurance. I decided my best--indeed, only-- option was to get one pair using the insurance, because even the self-pay rate for their "BOGO Special" was more than twice the ins. cost for one pair. Like another reviewer, I requested the ID (interpupillary distance, also called "IPD"), so that, when finances permit, I might get a backup pair from UHC's online vendor, or other source. The store manager, who happened to be the optician on duty, REFUSED to give me this measurement, variously citing: 1. "Store Policy" (of course, no such written policy document was presented); 2. He would be liable if any internet-obtained glasses had the wrong IPD (nonsense; the orig vendor would be); 3. "I's not a part of the prescription, so I can't give it to you" 4. "It's PROPRIETARY"! (These are MY eyes, and the technique is NOT a trade secret, nor rocket science--all of which also clearly exceeded his intellectual capacity as much as did basic Customer Service and human decency). 5. Finally, he tried to defend his refusal on the basis of how much schooling he had. If he wanted to have an educational or academic D-measuring contest, he clearly was the under dog, w my 15 yrs postsecondary education, 5 of those post-doctorate. Finally, I put it to him in plain English (another obvious challenge for him): "Are you going to lose a sale, rather than provide me with a standard measurement that you are going to do anyway?" I have been a customer, referred family and was not satisfied with my 3rd trip because the RX wasn't correct or they gave me lenses that I did not ask for and was told THEY DO NOT GIVE REFUNDS! No matter how dissatisfied you are with your glasses...refunds are not issued. As a consumer, when we don't like a product we should be able to ask for a refund and that's not the case here. I had an appointment for an eye exam and initially intended to purchase glasses at this location. The greeter/front desk woman is unprofessional and rude. The greeter was quite happy to get you in the door and process your insurance information, but then the entire process turns into a bad sales pitch, with a poorly trained "sales" staff. They use a color coding system as opposed to actually showing you the price of the frames. After my exam, I asked for a copy of my prescription so that I could shop for frames elsewhere, and was immediately met with hostility and told I would receive it "after I purchased my glasses." No. I got my prescription and left. The only thing this place has going for it is the Dr, he's wonderful and knowledgeable. Take your money across the street to America's Best. I had a great experience here. I didn't see all the negative reviews until after my visit here and the purchase of my glasses so I have to say I was really nervous to pick them up when they came in. However, everything was perfect! My initial visit was amazing. I had my two boys with me and Jay was absolutely amazing with them - actually brought out puzzles for them to play with while they waited for me. She made the entire process really bearable and fun. The wait to see the doctor was very short (I was a walk-in on an early Saturday afternoon) and I saw him within 15 minutes of my arrival. He was also very nice and knowledgeable, taking the time to answer all of my questions. The longest part was trying on glasses and finalizing everything (that took close to 2 hours). The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was b/c of the sales gimmick. They talk to you like their "discounts" are super awesome when really you will still end up paying over $500 for two pairs. So don't go in expecting a good pair of glasses with all the bells and whistles for the buy one get one price. If you want a nice pair of glasses with all the "extras" be prepared to dish out the money for it. Like they say, you get what you pay for.
