Usually a very good experience. They have a wide selection of high fashion glasses and thorough eye exams. This time the staff really got me upset, however. They sent text after text to get my husband and I to schedule and then when we finally did, constant, repeated reminders. They called 3 times in the span of a week to confirm, not to mention text messages. We were late to the appointment and was told only one of us could be seen, which was me. When we got there for the appointment, the first thing I was told was I was not due for an exam until April next year! I was truly upset! If the front desk was worth their paychecks, they would have confirmed this at the time of the appointment! So, I've lost out on a morning of work for nothing. So, check your policies before making an appointment, because they don't. read more

I lived in Lake Mary for 25 years, and Dr. Ben was my optometrist for much of that time. I moved to California for 7 years, during which I had my eye care with national chain stores for optometry. I moved back to Lake Mary recently and was happy to find that Advanced EyeCare was a contracted provider with my new insurance. I was very happy with the service. I can attest that the service one gets at a private practice like this one is so much more satisfactory than the large chains. Advanced EyeCare staff was warm, friendly, and professional, and the prices for exam and glasses is reasonable and comparable to other optometry offices. I've been going to see Dr. Ben and his team for ten years, they're the absolute best!

Don't go here for contacts! I walked in just needing an updated contacts prescription - no changes - and they still tried to charge me -- $255 -- for a "fitting fee" in addition to the eye exam. I complained and the owner came in to explain how they have to do all these things to make sure that the contacts are safe. To be clear, the fitting is literally just watching you put your contacts in and then briefly looking in your eyes to make sure nothing has.... Exploded? Total scam. To their credit, they cut the fitting fee in half but that still means they charged me $127.50 for 5 minutes of watching me put in contacts and then rechecking my eyes. Unreal - will never be back, and obviously I will buy my contacts somewhere else. read more

I wear glasses and contact lenses. I made an appointment for an annual eye exam. I was told the visit would cost $129. This was misleading if not outright deception. It was $129 to see the optometrist. A technician then used a slit lamp to see if my contacts were fitting correctly. For this I was charged $255. I've been wearing contacts for when40 years I've had numerous exams by ophthalmologist and optometrist never once was I charged a "fitting fee". I checked online, most optometrist do not charge a fitting fee if they do it's in the range of $25 with occasional outlier up to $100 no practice but I could find charged anywhere near $255! I won't be back to advanced eye care. read more

I found this optician on Yelp to get new glasses for my 91-year-old mother. They were accommodating of my schedule and fit her in. She is very feeble and they were kind and gentle with her. Everyone was extremely professional and I told Dr. Ben Larson his office is much more caring than the huge optician office I have been using for far too long. I may change to him now. Their prices also seem reasonable. Only one problem. The appointment had to be rescheduled once and their staff double booked even though they had texted me conformation of my appointment. I showed them what they sent, and they apologized and fit my mother in. But even with that pretty significant mistake I am still giving them 5 stars. read more

**Updated** Bumped this up to 5 stars because I mean...why not? I had an annual eye exam the other week and they handled the entire exam very well given the current situation. I had to reschedule my appointment (easily done over the phone). I received a reminder as well. Upon pulling up to the lot a few minutes before my appointment time, they had a large sign in the front asking patients to call in to alert the office when we arrived. If you did not fill out a COVID 19 questionnaire (they email this to you), you are asked multiple questions regarding how you are feeling and then when they are ready for you, they come out and let you know you are up. They take a quick temperature check outside before letting you in. There are many clear panels set up in the office to distance you from the workers. They take much precaution when examining. Everyone has a mask and the machines for testing are wiped down before and after usage. My appointment was pretty quick and thorough. I highly recommend this place! read more

I honestly had a good experience with this place a few years back, but I feel compelled to write this review due to the lack of concern for their customers and how greedy this place has become. Due to covid and the fact that many of us have small children and cannot leave the house, we have been forced to do our shopping online. I called the clinic asking politely for my Pupillary Distance number taken a few years back. They said they would only issue the number if I paid them a $49 dollar "maintenance fee". They said they didn't want to be liable for any wrong measurements, yet they wouldn't give me the number if I paid the fee? I don't know how you can run an honest business this way, and not understand people's fears in time of a pandemic and charge them money for their owners information after they purchase an itemized from you. Many other clinics are also hurting financially, yet giving out this information for no fee (I've checked). Please go elsewhere. read more

After several years with Advanced Eye Care, my family switched to another local optometrist. While the optometrists here are good, their staff is the worst of the worst, and provided the most horrible customer service experience I've ever had. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I didn't have any annual appointment last year. I had a decent experience with my annual exam, getting my new Rx, and picking out eyeglass frames. I mentioned to the optometrist that my vision insurance would cover 2 pairs of glasses this year through their "cares" program. Without calling me a liar, she told me that my 2020 benefits were "use it or lose it" and there's no way that the insurance would make any exception. I asked her to call and verify, and I gave her the information that the insurance company gave me when I spoke with them. She refused to call, stating that she had already called them to confirm my 2021 benefits, and she never heard of such a thing. When I picked up my new glasses, I immediately mentioned that I couldn't see clearly. I was told "give it time, your eyes need to adjust." I've been wearing glasses for 40 years, and my past experience with new glasses has always been that I could immediately see clearly with my new glasses. Instead I went home, knowing that they were not the right lenses. I started getting migraines. After a few days I called and told them that I couldn't use my new glasses and was again told to give it time (at least a month). Each week I called and received the same curt reply. I stopped using my new glasses, knowing that they weren't the correct Rx. After a month, I went back to their office and told them that they needed to check my new Rx because they were giving me migraines and I couldn't use my new glasses. They told me "you should've told us sooner. You've had your glasses over a month, there's nothing we can do for you now. You just need to deal with it and give yourself time to adjust to your new Rx." I called the insurance company for assistance. They offered me another eye exam at another office, and to replace my new lenses with the corrected Rx. They also verified that I had y 2020 benefits available for another set of glasses. They helped me schedule an appointment with another eye doctor. The optometrist at The new office did a thorough exam and determined that the Rx I was given was not optimal for me. To my surprise, she also told me that the lenses in my new glasses from Advanced Eye Care were not the correct Rx as originally prescribed (the lab made a huge mistake and the optometrist dispensed my glasses to me without checking to make sure the lens Rx was correct). They replaced my lenses with the correct Rx, and I immediately could see clearly. The migraines disappeared. Logan Eye Care also took a minute confirm my 2020 benefits and helped me select another frame for my new Rx sunglasses. Had Advanced Eye Care taken a moment to listen to their patient, this entire horrible experience could have been avoided. If they took the time to double check my Rx before I picked up my glasses, they could've corrected the mistake with the Rx. If they cared that I couldn't see properly, they could've corrected the Rx. If they had properly trained staff who knew how to provide good customer service instead of insulting the customer and telling them "I agree to disagree", instead of doing what's best for the customer (calling the insurance company to verify 2020 benefits would've taken less than 5 minutes), my family would not have left their practice, and I wouldn't have rated them 1 star. Unfortunately, they had 100% turnover with their office staff, and their new employees are rude, condescending and don't know the meaning of good customer service. Fortunately, our experience has a happy ending. Our insurance company helped make it right for us. We found a new (awesome!) optometrist with a nice office and wonderful, caring staff. The new optometrist office resolve the issues with my Rx from Advanced Eye Care. They worked with the insurance company to confirm my 2020 benefits, and helped me get a nice pair of Rx sunglasses. They also helped my family use their 2020 and 2021 benefits in the best way for each individual, and they did it all professionally, and with a smile... providing us with a great overall customer service experience. read more

I really want to be happy with them. The doctor is great and I very much appreciated the effort she took with following up with my contacts especially since I needed to change from the initial contacts she prescribed. They did a contact fitting where they gave the the wrong rx for each eye (this was not done by the dr). With that said, I ordered a 6 month supply and when I went in to pick them up, it was discovered that they only ordered for my left eye. Okay, mistakes happen, they gave me some samples to hold me over. Six months later, I go to pick up the next batch. I look in the bag, and well those aren't my contacts. Even though they verified the contact type over the phone, they ordered the wrong type. So here is to another 5-7 day wait for the correct lenses. I really want to like this place. I think that I will continue seeing Dr. Larson but I will no longer be ordering my contacts from here. read more

They are still as great as ever! Since my last review, I picked up a pair of Nike sunglasses with them, and they're always a joy to work with. I asked if I could get the stock lenses back, just incase my prescription changes enough and I want to go to contact lenses. I forgot to ask when it came time to pick them up, but one call later, they had them on hold for me. This is kind of a double update actually. My good friend, Brian G., just found out that he needed glasses, and after checking out a few places down south, I concocted a plan to get him all the way up here, because I know they have the best selection, and he'd find something great. ...and he did! Plus they entered me into a drawing for $500 for referring him. I would have whether they did or not. They'd moved things around a little bit, and I have to say that they don't have the LARGEST selection, but they definitely go for quality over quantity. It's easier to come in and not be inundated with hundreds of pairs, but instead have a quality selection to choose from. Brian G. found a pair that met everything that he was looking for. And me... I could have walked out with at least a half a dozen pairs. Their service was great as usual. I told them that they may be the inspiration that I need to get a new job (for the optical coverage, gotta keep my eyes looking good and good looking)! There was a little problem with VSP - but they worked with us, as I put the smack down over the phone with Brian's optometrist. They'll do anything in their power to help you out there - it's just great. They even said it'll be OK for me to come pick up his glasses, as he works late when he's in town. The downside there is that they won't be able to make the little adjustments for his face, but he has his eyes on a cute girl at JCPenny's Optical department in West Palm, and that will be a perfect opportunity for him! ;) I've got my eyes on some Oakley Whiskers if anyone wants to get me an early birthday present! :) read more

I saw Elizabeth MacDonald. This is my second visit with her. She is very nice and speaks in plain language so you can understand what she is trying to tell you, instead of talking to you in Doctor Speak, that is had to understand. I have a problem with a vessel in the back of my eye, and she made me comfortable and explained what it meant, what might happen, and what we needed to do next without frightening me. The young lady that was working with her, sorry cannot remember her name, was extremely nice and helpful. I have tried several other places, America's Best, Four Eyes, and yes they are cheaper, but they do not do all of the tests that they do here and they are very important to have done. What an amazing group of professionals. Brought my 13yr daughter in after she developed frequent headaches and complained of trouble seeing the board at school. After a complete and thorough exam Dr Christy determined she would need prescription glasses/contacts. This was missed earlier in the year during a brief eye exam at different healthcare facility. Their prices are so over inflated that even the $200 Living Social offer had minimal affect on the shopping experience. In fact, after applying the offer eye glasses were more than four times more expensive than the last pair I purchased. I was shocked! Living Social should remove this vendor from their service. .I used to go to this office, which is a husband-wife optometrist team. I never had any issue with Dr Kristy, but Dr Ben only seemed interested in upcharging. I have a funky-looking optic nerve & Dr Ben wanted to take expensive intraocular photos every year, as he called me a "glaucoma suspect." An opthamologist that I've seen has told me that I have a perfectly normal variant of my optic nerve & it is nothing to be concerned about. I headed here after getting a debris in my eye and working in the area. I really liked the service so after I got that taken care of I made an appointment for my eye exam. Three years later and I've had a great experience every visit. I took advantage of the ortho-k service which is contacts I wear at night that reshape my cornea and allows me to go glass and contact free during the day. I would definitely recommend going here for your vision needs. I'm very pleased with the service, everyone has been nice and polite. They also really are advanced when it comes to eye care with machines and tests I've never received when going to other optical centers. read more

I have an extreme eye phobia. If I get an eyelash in my eye, it is a crisis. Eye drops send me into a complete panic. So, I put off going to the eye doctor for about 15 years. When I started having trouble reading close up, I knew I had to do something. I'm glad I was referred to Advanced Eye Care last year. I survived my first visit and my first pair of readers. The staff is patient and very understanding and I appreciate that. I even kept my annual appointment this year.
