Since I moved to Orlando for ucf, this is where I go for my yearly eye exam, glasses and contacts. They offer a cheap price for eye exams. They always have such a great selection of frames to choose from! It was hard to pick because there was so many. I am absolutely in love with my clear, Versace eye glasses and have received so many compliments on them. I just recently went back for prescription sunglasses. They custom made me prescription lenses to fit these fancy Prada frames. The frames I chose were not designed to be made into sunglasses, they almost thought it couldn't be done. But they kept trying and basically engineered me my dream sunglasses from scratch! I am so happy with them and how they turned out. Thank you again!!! read more

This place is not the same without previous owner, Tony Product Selection: minimal sunglasses selection, more regular glasses. There were minimal high end products here (think Gucci, Prada, Ray-ban) during my recent visit. There were cheaper, lower quality products (Michael Kors, Vogue), which is fine if that's what you're looking for/paying for, I go to cheaper places for cheaper stuff. (Tony used to keep the high end stuff in stock). Service: I'm so sad Tony retired (according to the people who work there) and Maria no longer there. They really shined in this category when Tony was there. I went there recently and it was 30 minutes before closing time, I felt very rushed (Tony used to stay open late if there's anyone walk in and will accommodate weekend/evening appointments). I asked them to adjust a pair of sunglasses I was trying on, they didn't want to do it at first (they told me it will be adjusted after I buy them), after I explained to them I need to make sure they fit before I buy them, they made a half a$$ effort to adjust it, I had to ask again. The nose pad was still totally crocked. Tony would give you his honest opinion about if he thinks something looks good/bad on you, search the whole store to find you something you like. The folks working there now made no effort in sales. Smh. How do you expect me to shell out $500+ for sunglasses if that's the kind of service I receive? Location: good if you're a student or happened to be on campus. Inconvenient parking otherwise. Lens: they have 1.74 index. That's a major reason I go there. I have been to this UCF location several times. All I have met is high pressure sales tactics and a sales person, Tony, which could sell ice to an Eskimo. For lack of knowledge or time I have gone to College Optical for emergencies. Unfortunately it has never expedient as I am always met with long winded stories and tours around the showroom which I have not invited. A 30 minute session easily turns into an hour and a half. Typically, none of the glasses in store are anything which I attractive, which I tell the salesperson....however he continues to tell me I look good in glasses which I do not want. I refuse to buy a $200 pair of glasses which are ugly. In this case it really isn't sales, it's just blatant lies. Furthermore, I paid over $100 for an exam, and 1 new box of contacts. Tony refused to write a prescription for my glasses to the tune that he wasn't 'certified' to do that and would have to return the following Monday when another doctor was in. This seems very odd and manipulative. The last visit to the store I waited and watched while Tony adjusted a new pair of glasses for a girl. He buttered her up, telling her how great she looked, and ended by saying that, "I wouldn't be surprised that when you walk out today, during lunch someone will come up to you and tell you how smart those glasses make you look!" She had a huge grin on her face. As soon as he left I overheard him whispering to the staff that her glasses had been messed up and shouldn't have looked that way. I'm disgusted. read more

I went there to get my glasses adjusted there once. After that experience I'm fine with just letting them slip down my nose and having to push them up more often than usual. The whole time I was siting there while the guy (I don't remember his name) was adjusting my glasses, he was sitting there criticizing them and how they were "cheap". Actual quote: "What did these cost, around $100? I guess they're not too bad for the price." He was constantly making comments that made it seem like I was less than him because I didn't have expensive designer frames (I'm just glad I didn't get pushed i to trying to be sold new frames like some of the other reviews). They charged me like $15 or so for the adjustment, which is an okay price I guess, but the guy doing the adjustment was so rude that I won't be coming back. read more

I have been here twice now and overall, am very happy with both experiences. My first time was to get new frames. I had compared prices elsewhere and this place is the cheapest I found for what I wanted and needed. I have horrible eyesight so my prescription calls for thinner lenses (or else I'd be wearing magnifying glasses on my face), which is definitely not cheap. I also got anti-glare so I can take pictures confidently without having to do multiple re-do shots. My second and most recent time was for my annual eye check-up and to order a new set of contacts. Dr. Clark was very thorough and friendly, I couldn't ask for anything more from him. The prices are as good as you can get without insurance; they'll even work out payment plans with you if you cannot pay the entire amount in the same day. The staff is beyond excellent. You are treated so well here. Keep up the amazing work, we appreciate your services at UCF! read more

After being wrongly diagnosed by two difference optometrist, Dr Clark was able to bring my vision back! He was very thorough about the exam, made sure the contacts were suitable for me. I had an optometrist tell me I had Corneal neovascularization and that I had a lazy eye. But Dr Clark was able to prove them all wrong! He is also very friendly and truly cares about his patients eyes!! Before going into the exam room, Tony was helping me find frames. He was extremely helpful and knowledgable as to what frames fit my Asian face shape. He was also very honest on the which ones were good on me and which ones were not as well as the pricing for everything. He taught me a lot about glasses I've never known before! I ended up w a pair of Versace frames w/ 20% off, high quality lenses, and two boxes of contacts. I even got free contact solution and a cleaning kit for my glasses. Overall, I HIGHLY recommended college optical to anyone and will definitely be returning in the future! read more

He gives the most thorough exam I've ever experienced, and he is extremely patient, honest and friendly. His prices were extremely fair also. People there are pushy. Don't buy anything from them they are scamming you and selling you cheap products go anywhere else. Lens crafters has a student sale at the begging of every school year buy from them they have never disappointed me. I tried to do something new that sounded like a good deal, but these people are scammers. read more

I LOVE the team in this office. I was a student at UCF and based on a recommendation from another student decided to give College Optical Express a try. I was super annoyed with my previous eye center and in desperate need of a better facility. They people in this office were attentive and quick. Their contact prices are cheaper than 1-800-contacts. They offer student discounts on glasses. There is usually a deal always going on in the store. They gave me two deals: (1) free lenses with the purchase of any frames; and (2) $75 in rebates for a year supply of contacts. I ended up saving well over $100 my first trip. I now sport BCBG glasses (which are always being complemented) and have only recently finished my first year of contacts. The best part is once you make a purchase you can pop into the store anytime and ask for a free bottle of contact solution. The second time I made a purchase at this store was when I was an alumni. I came back to buy another year supply of contacts. This time I only had a $50 rebate but they gave me the alumni discount on top of that. College Optical Express at UCF takes care of their customers and fellow Knights. I recommend them to anyone within a 10 mile radius. read more

I love these people! They give UCF employees and students a great deal on just about everything and they are super nice to boot. I had my contact lens exam done and was not charged any extra due to my astigmatism (which other places are known to do). I didn't have to wait and the exam was quick and easy and not the usual drawn out nonsense I have come to expect. Then there is Antonio! He helped me pick out my new frames and he really has a good eye (no pun intended) for what looks good. I would have been there a hundred years looking and probably ended up getting something that would look stupid. Antonio had me try on a few different pairs and then told me honestly what he thought. He threw in a lot of little extras like rewetting drops and glass cleaner, things that Lenscrafters in my experience does not. (Mind you Lenscrafters has always been fine, just not stellar). I am super pleased with the service and selection here and I will not have any need to go anywhere else for my eyes! read more

$79 exam for contacts and glasses is already a great deal but when you pair it with kind friendly knowledgable staff and a wide selection of designer frames then this place is just extraordinary. I will not hassle with any other optical place from now on. They really hooked me up no pressure to buy any add-ons or upgrades but a great staff member that helped me find the perfect pair of frames that matched my face and my eyebrows! I've been getting glasses/contacts since middle school so I've been to a lot of places and Ucf optical left me exceptionally pleased. My husband is coming here next and I will quickly recommend this place to family and friends. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had buying anything. I got my eyes checked there and it was okay, it was weird because they literally only asked can you see, yes or no as they are changing the lenses. The doctor didn't ask to read any lines while preforming the exam. Also they did not perform any further test that you would normally get at the eye doctor. After the exam was complete all the employees are pushy and they are trying to get you to buy something. I ended up buying glasses. They were having a promotion for students to get 30% off frames and free lenses. The lenses that are "free" are literally half an inch thick. I did not want that so I payed $100 extra to get the thinner lenses. When I received these glasses I could not see, my vision was blurry. I went back and they said the lenses were cut wrong, also the lenses were not thin at all I thought I was paying for high index lenses but I got a cheap plastic. I went back again because I still couldn't wear he glasses it was unbearable. I asked what the return policy was and one man there lied to me and said you can't return them or get store credit I thought that this was weird so I called other college Opticals and learned that this man lied to me. They ended up giving me trilogy lenses which were finally ok. I could see, but they were still bothering me a bit so I just went to lens crafters and bought glasses there that were perfect. I went back to college Optical to get store credit and buy sunglasses instead and when I chose the glasses I wanted they did not give me new glasses they pulled the ones from the shelf and sold me those. I complained about it and they said that if I wanted brand new ones I would have to pay more for them!!! I am so upset if I could give them zero stars I would. I would not go there!!! Go anywhere else. I have never written a bad review for any company or store but this was too much I was stead my money there. Dr. Clark is amazing. He takes his time with you. Great selection of eyewear. I would not recommend if you need progressive or bifocals. I ordered progressive lenses since I had slight astigmatism and i could not see as well as I thought. They don't refund for any lenses. I ended up getting single vision at the price for progressive. Get the refund policy up front and make sure they explain how progressive and bifocals work, before you end up paying more than you have too. Do your research. read more

This optical is amazing! Not only their staff was friendly but also have good prices! I came in originally to get a pair of glasses repaired and without hesitation, they were able to repair it for me. In addition, I went back about 2 months ago for my eye exam with Dr. Clark and bought a new pair of glasses that I absolutely love! Not only the glasses were affordable, but also got them done the same day! At my optometrist back home, it would take them 2 weeks! This place has become my optical of choice, I will definitely be back to get some sunglasses and will refer all my friends and family! :-) read more

Dr. John A. Clark is an amazing Optometrist. By far, the best eye exam I have ever had , with a complete workup including dilating the eyes to check for macular degeneration. It was also a good conversation as well.. The environment is clean and fresh, and you can't beat the price of $39 (untaxed) for glasses prescription and $79 (untaxed) for contacts and glasses prescription. However, beware of overzealous sales associates, Antonio nearly twisted my arm, figuratively speaking, trying to sell me on buying their glasses or buying their contacts. I politely responded and calmly listened to his spiel, all the while knowing that I neither had the funds-available nor was currently interested in buying glasses from them, on that day. In fact, I had no plan on doing so before I even came in there. They did double/triple-team me for awhile explaing why the service is so great. It was entertaining a bit, but it was overly-intense. Even going so far as to guilt-trip me, solemly walking up to me and giving me a pamphlet pointing out that they have the cheapest price and to tell my friends and family. (even though I already knew that?) It didn't fool me, and I know they've got to make their money too. But I could see how a young naieve timid college student could easily be made to feel stupid and get their arm-twisted into buying from them. Anyways, great place, just have your guard up if you're already decided on purchasing from somewhere else because they will press you, that's their job. Oh, and one more thing, you do have to shell out $5 for parking if you aren't a UCF student, so bare that in mind with the cost. read more
