The restaurant is bigger and more organized than the other location. I like the decor and the clean environment. We ordered the fish noodle soup. There is a separate order sheet for this where you can select your broth, noodle, toppings and drinks for $16.50. My husband ordered the lo mein with beef tendon which is so reasonably priced. We also got the honey bbq pork (char siu) for additional protein. Food is very tasty as usual. You can't go wrong with anything you order at Congee Queen. The service was quick. Servers are okay friendly, typical level of service you would expect at a Chinese restaurant. Overall we had a great experience here and might actually like this location better!

Meat was not too fatty and too lean, just to our liking. Congee was excellent with good consistency. Rice and water wasn't separated after eating a few spoons. Pork with mushroom was tender but we wished there were more mushrooms. Lobster noodle has too much sauce but the lobster was fresh. Services: very typical. The staff would not come to your table unless you call them. Decoration: Nice inside. Spacious, clean, and welcoming.

The portions are generous, and the noodles are especially good. They're perfectly chewy and springy. The soup that comes with the lo mien is also so flavourful. Everything just hits the spot. There's really nothing missing in terms of flavour. It's a small, old school restaurant rather than a fancy or trendy spot, and it feels like one of those hidden gems that only people who know about it come to. I even got to see them wrapping the wontons by hand, so you can tell they're actually making them fresh in-house. If you're ever in the area, definitely give this place a try. I'll be back again for sure!

Admittedly, about half the offerings we got were tasty, while the other half lacked flavoring. Dumplings are great but so large, eating them is a bit of a mess. Good for a simple and quick lunch, but if you're seeking more complex flavors, look elsewhere. Hours are not very open-- the resto closes at 7pm, so dinner is only for the early folks! While the restaurant was clean inside, plastic dividers for the round tables are a bit of an eyesore. Tea is served in plastic cups rather than traditional ceramic, which would add a layer of presentation. Prices are competitive and fair.

We arrived around dinnertime on a recent weeknight and the place was almost empty. We snagged a comfy booth near the front of the restaurant and began perusing the menu. I knew exactly what I wanted, though, so I was mainly going through the motions for the benefit of my dining companion. I almost always get the exact same thing when I first try a new Vietnamese restaurant, and so it was that I ordered the Grilled Beef & Spring Roll with Vermicelli. It arrived a short time later accompanied by the requisite dish of fish sauce and it certainly looked promising. And indeed, it's a decent-enough variation on this venerable dish. All the components are well prepared and assembled, and the fish sauce perfectly ties everything together. However, I can't say I was exactly blown away by the dish. Everything about it felt awfully middle of the road, and I was disappointed that the beef didn't contain that grill-forward flavor I associate with this meal. Still, I enjoyed eating this dish and I'm fairly certain I will again. Maybe next time, however, I'll try a bowl of their Pho. It's probably the thing to order there, given that the word "pho" is in the title of the place.

2.5 Came here for lunch today. It caught our attention…read morebecause there's not that many places you can get soups on this area. It's mostly just Japanese, Burrito or Falafel places. At 11:45am, we were the first customers. They had 4 different soups including a chunky garden vegetable, turkey and rice, beef noodle and chicken noodle. To be honest, they all looked good and fresh, but also very much like Campbells soup. I'm not sure, I'm just saying. For $6.95 you can get a huge bowl soup that comes with bread. For $7.95 you can get a sandwich on a fresh bun with toppings such as sauce, fresh onions, mushrooms and peppers. For $10 something, you can get a combo of soup and sandwich. There were also some hot food choices, but looked no different from the cafeteria food in my office. The Sandwich options ranged from chicken, pulled pork, grilled veggies. You can get them on a big cibatta cheese or onion bun, or you have a choice of a wrap. A good point that my co-worker made, was the although the bun was fresh, it looked (and tasted) like stuff you can get at the grocery. There were no whole wheat options. The sandwhich was yummy, but nothing unique I would come back for. I also asked if I could have my bun toasted, and she said no. They have a toaster , which wasn't installed yet. They've been open for a year - just saying. The place itself is nice. They have big communal tables, seems good for a casual big group meeting. I like the wooden floors, and the decor. It's clean and modern, without being trendy. There are metal chairs and tables at a good size, but my bum hurt after a while. It's serve yourself, but not sure if it's clean after yourself either. I can see that with one person working, tables might leave with empty plates and be neglected for a while. The company that runs this cafe, also has a catering company and the office is right in the dining area, I'm not sure why. At some point the photocopier was running. I did not like the fact that the soups were on this extremely high countertop, where I had to stand on my tippy toes to lift the lid and take a look see with the ladle. Would I come here again? Meh, it was nothing special. Probably not, with Porta Via in proximity, we'd rather go there.

I've honestly never in my life been so poorly treated at a lunch place. The lady who works there is so flustered, and can't even put together a salad without having a panic attack. She's absolutly the most rude person i've ever met in my life. At one point i asked her if she wants us to leave becasue she was sighing and complaining so much about making a couple salads. The first time i went in there by myself, i ordered a large salad and added grilled vegetables on top with no extra charge. Today when i went in she told me she's going to have to charge me extra because i ordered to many. That's funny, because someone who is giving you large business should be treated more kindly as they are paying you more money- just a customer service fyi. Unfortunatly for them, our company does a lot of catering and we were looking into their catering menu. Never will be exploring into that option any further. Secondly, if 40+ employees were being to how great they are, they could've grabbed a lot of business from us. Sorry, you'll never be seeing us again. I highly recommend you stick with places with kind people who want to serve you.

The staff are very friendly and service is quick. We usually get soup (coconut) and a few appetizers. It's more than enough food for my wife and I. More importantly, it ends our shopping trip which are normally harrowing and expensive. Aside from McPigs, not many affordable restaurants in the area. Just read a comparison with Panera (which seems healthy and is across the street) and the Dirty Clown. Many of the Panera dishes were actually higher in calories than a Big Mac! We'd planned on hitting a different Vietnamese place on the Queensway but it was closed. (What kind of restaurant closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays??) Anyway, we were in the mood for Vietnamese, so we figured we'd finally check out Fresh Rolls. We arrived a little after 6:00 and the place was empty. The decor was extremely low-rent and sloppy, so I was immediately having doubts. (I remember thinking that the place looked like the "before" on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.) After perusing their surprisingly robust menu, I decided to go with the Chef's Choice ("Imperial Roll, Fresh Salad with Chef's Choice proteins all marinated and grilled; served on Jasmine Rice"), and I got that with chicken as my protein. It arrived a little while later and it honestly looked pretty puny, especially considering the $18.99 price point. A very slim amount of sad-looking chicken, a small spring roll, and an almost comically tiny salad. (The latter was especially egregious, since I ate it in about three bites.) The food is fine. Everything was prepared pretty well; the rice was tasty and the edible pieces of chicken were tender. (Half the pieces looked really questionable, though, so I didn't even eat them.) The problem was that the whole thing was just so muted. There were no bold or interesting flavors, and the dish tasted like the chef stopped caring about his customers a long time ago. I'm fairly shocked Fresh Rolls has been around as long as it has. I can't imagine I'll ever go back.
