Tasty lunch specials that were each just under $10. The spicy butterfish roll was the standout, with large chunks of fresh fish. The eel and avocado, California, and salmon rolls were also very fresh and tasty. The rice was a little sticky and overcooked, but the rest was good enough to make up for this fact. Our bento boxes also included salmon teriyaki (quite dry), beef similar to Korean style bulgogi, vegetable tempura, salad, plain rice, and a melon slice. Owners were very friendly and kind. Quality and price were both good, and I would definitely recommend coming by for their excellent lunch specials, available Monday to Sunday. I think this is one of the better sushi restaurants in the area, and there's free parking!

I came here for the first time last night for a quick meet up with a friend. The inside of this restaurant is simple, it's small but doesn't feel crammed, it's a nice quiet spot. We got bacon wrapped asparagus ($7.59) to start. It came with 6 pieces. This was delicious. I highly recommend this dish. My friend ordered the Spicy Maki Set ($11.99) which comes with spicy tuna (6 pieces) and spicy salmon (6 pieces). She said it was very good and filling. I ordered the Sushi & Maki ($9.99) which comes with Salmon, Shrimp, Crab and Saba (1 piece each) and a California roll (6 pieces). Mine was good. I'm more into all you can eat sushi restaurants so I was still hungry after this. If you order a Sushi & Maki combo, it comes with miso soup & a salad which is a bonus since it's already included in the price. We also ordered 1 order of mango ice cream an 1 order of green tea ice cream for dessert. Each order has 2 scoops in it. Overall this place is a nice place to eat at. The prices aren't too bad if you're not in the mood for an AYCE sushi restaurant.

I ordered a 36 peice "T9" takeout tray. I substituted some of the order for California rolls, Crab maki, and Spicy crispy tuna rolls. The rest of the order included octopus rolls, white tuna rolls shrimp rolls, red snapper rolls and salmon rolls. I found it accommodating to allow me to change my order and substitute to some of my particular preferences. The food came promptly and it tasted awesome. I had no complaints about my sushi.

If you've never tried rice tea, this is the place for it. Trying a mildly sweet warm liquid on a cold Saturday is how I spent lunch with my friends. Our waitress kept filling it up so often. This is a nice place that earns my respect because of the service received and a break from the traditional jasmine tea that is complimentary. I wish though that they played traditional music instead of the top 40 that was being played. There were empty seats when we walked in so we got seated immediately. I liked that our waitress helped us out to get the best possible value for price when we wanted to order soup separate from our meals. Their meso soup was tasty and unlike the ones I've tried before. There was tofu and greens in it. I wish they cut the salad leaves up into smaller pieces as it was challenging to eat large leaves with chop sticks. The sauce on the salad was the star. All I could taste was a hint of peanuts with the consistency of a thick sauce. I also had the teriyaki chicken with rice. Nothing really special about it except that it was on a bed of soft cooked bean sprouts.

    Combo A4, Fruit, rice, Sushi

I've been there on two separate occasions and cause I'm so boring like that I ordered the same thing, both times. "A4 Combo Special: Tofu teriyaki Avocado&Cucumber Rolls(6pcs) Veg. Tempura, Fresh Fruit" It was a bento box with sweet potato, avocado, eggplant and broccoli tempura, fried tofu with teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds on a bed of beansprouts, steamed rice, Avocado and Cucumber sushi rolls (6), pickled ginger, wasabi paste and an orange. It comes with green tea and a little salad of iceberg lettuce and carrots. I don't like the salad because of the dressing, I don't know what it is. Everything else is spectacular and all that only for $10.99...WHAT? I am unsure if the Miso soup came with the combo, but if not I think it is only $1.30 for a bowl. The miso soup is great, so great. The green tea keeps coming, it's unlimited. The tofu has amazing flavor, the rolls are fresh, the tempura is fresh, crispy and light even though it's fried. You know something is amazing when it's deep fried but still feels light. Hubby ordered "Combo A2: Salmon Teriyaki Sushi:Salmon, Shrimp, Spring Roll(3pcs), Fresh Fruit" for $11.99 We also ordered on the side 3 rolls of Tuna, Salmon and California ($8.99) The service was great, seriously I care so much about service and the waitress was very attentive and kind. The decor is nice, it's a very clean and small restaurant. I love it, I am only sad I don't live within 10 minute walking distance anymore :(

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

What I really liked was that they had 3 options of warm water - Hot, Warm, and room temperature. Instinctively I knew this place cared about the clients digestive health. Though I'm sure if you asked for ice water, they would accommodate (my friend asked for no sauces in her maki roll). The fishes were plated very pretty and because it's sushi of course it tasted good. But I was surprised at the level of wasabi that was plated. Cleared up my sinuses for 30 seconds. The establishment is very clean and bright and a great place to head to if you're in a rush.

We got a bunch of dishes to share and overall liked most things but some things (like the oyster) unfortunately didn't hit as well. Wagyu - thin slices but very tender and very flavorful with the cheese - surprised by how well the flavor combo worked out. Tofu - easily one of my fave agedashi tofu. Huge tofu slices with very chewy outer texture, a bit gelatinous . Really went well with the sauce and toppings Carbonara - nice chewy texture to the udon, not too soft and not too firm. The sauce was nice and creamy. Not as truffley as I thought it would be, wish it was a little more but it was still pretty good Oyster - least favorite of all the dishes we got today. It was a bit sour and the cheese felt like it didn't really help the flavor profile of the oysters. It was super oily from the cheese, felt like it was drowning in cheese/oil flavor Cod - it looks good but something is lacking, maybe in taste? Feel like maybe the marinade did not penetrate enough. The texture is still nice and soft , with a crisp skin . Also was a bit too oily for our liking, compared to other miso cod we have had. It was also a relatively smaller piece of cod. Overall, the appetizers were really good! The oyster and cod were a bit disappointing. Would come back for the carbonara and the other appetizers mentioned though!

It felt comfortable, not too loud, and easy to settle into for a slow dinner. We ordered a mix of small plates to share, and everything came out looking nicely put together. The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done. Some of the fried dishes leaned a bit richer with the creamy sauces, but they were still enjoyable, especially if you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent.
