I love the Edmonds Theater! The seats may not be super fancy like some new theaters (almost too small for me as a fat person) but having access to a nice theater outweighs that problem (haha i made a pun). People working there tend to be really friendly. When my trans sister and I (I'm also trans) were talking about the queerness of some characters in a movie while waiting in the lobby, one of the employees chimed in, agreeing with our assessment of the characters, and just making me feel more comfortable as a queer person there. Concessions are about as expensive as you expect from a theater. There's no obnoxious ads before the movies, just silent ads for local businesses (even a lost cat ad). There's not a lot of room in the lobby, so if you don't get there early you may end up waiting outside in the cold while you wait for them to let people be seated. The only thing I'm not sure about is seating for disabled folks. I'll take a closer look next time. I do not use a wheelchair, but I sometimes am not able to bend my knees, so I will use wheelchair seating because it lets me keep my legs stretched out. I've been coming to movies at this classic theater since 1970. It just gets better, while somehow staying the same! They show first-run films now, where in the "old days" they showed classic Hollywood films. It's the one theater where I buy popcorn and feel just fine about the price :-). read more

The ole Edmonds Theater near the downtown fountain just continues to ooze with small-town charm. Just saw Benjamin Button there, and sat comfortably for almost 3 hours in the back and still felt connected and close. It's now $7.50 for adults. Clean, friendly, better than usual popcorn , and ya get a little punch card which provides a free movie after 10 visits. Tonight the movie started without even one preview....I mean, they get right down to business! Finally, the quaint setting of the old Edmonds' buildings and the ease of walking to your car less than a half block away, makes you feel like you're in another movie set...I swear...every time. read more

Love this theater I hope people continue to spend their money at this theater versus the big corporate ones. If we don't all support local businesses eventually there won't be any. It's got a decent size screen with lots of seating and really good popcorn. It's more affordable than most theaters and it's got an old-school charm to it.i'm not positive but it seems like it's family ran. I live by Green Lake but it's worth the extra drive :-) read more

It is nice small theater in downtown Edmonds, perfect for date nights and close to restaurants and bars. My husband and I love it here.

If you want a AMC or Regal theater this is not for you. If you want to watch a movie relax and feel almost at home, this is the place to be.

Cozy old theatre with a lot of character and charm! When was the last night you sat on velvet covered seats?? Very old Hollywood glamour type feel that I absolutely love! My bf and I enjoy "escaping" here for movies, its a lot quieter, more quaint, and less hectic from the other big theaters that are usually overcrowded. There is balcony seating up above which is where we kove to sit. The staff is so friendly; you know they love their jobs and are passionate about their theater!!! Tickets are a steal...$8 for adults and $6 for kids. They have specials and promotions on certain days if the week. With today's inflation and going out for a movie costs a fortune...this theater is a gem!! read more

went here after a very disappointed trip to Claire's pantry (don't go there) the theater was exactly how i remember it growing up. comfy roomy seats cheap food and amazing popcorn. and $6 for movies before 5pm how can you go wrong. i need to come to this place more often i always seem to forget about it. read more

We love patronizing our local theater. It's a rough wait for new movies to come out because we always rush out to see whatever is playing the first weekend. Then we have to wait, wait, wait and wonder what it's going to be... but we learn patience :) Love the punchcards and it's nice for kids to get free popcorn (wish I were a kid!). I've never gotten the lucky number, but I'm still hopeful! Our last visit, however, wasn't very pleasant. First, we probably shouldn't have gone to see Harry Potter in the first place (since I hadn't seen the previous ones). But the theater was filled with teenyboppers texting throughout the entire LONG movie. I'm talking pitch black and they whip out those phones! None of the theater employees even walk through to check on things. So basically we had to live with it. One lady walked out of the movie and waited outside for her husband. I felt bad for her. She had some really bad texting going on in front of her--plus the girls were giggling and sharing their texts with each other. I don't even know why they were there because they certainly weren't watching the movie! There was a row of 14-15 year old boys in front of us not only texting, but chewing tobacco and spitting their chew in their cups, etc. It was a pretty gross site. At least they weren't talking much. Ahhh teenagers! But on a regular night with a regular crowd, we enjoy this theater. read more

I love this theater! It reminds me of the little family place I used to go as a kid. The interior is all original old school stylie. The popcorn is good and not too salty and the staff is really nice. I love that only adults are allowed on the balcony since the rails are short...woo hoo...movie in peace. It's just a great little place that makes you feel so much more a part of a community than a sterile theater at the mall. Highly recommended. read more

What a great movie theater! My wife and I saw Star Wars: The Force Awakens here when most of the other theaters were sold out. We enjoyed a nice diner a few blocks away and then walked to the theater. The screen, sound system, and chairs were all reasonable up to date so we could throughly enjoy the movie. What more could a movie goer ask for? The only down side to going to this theater is that they only show one movie, so, you can't show up at the theater and have a few movies to pick from. read more

I've been only once. The screen and seating area is very small and the day I went it was very busy. Staff is friendly and have a small town feel. Every one seems to know someone standing in line or working behind the counter. This really isn't my idea of a good place to see a movie, particularly for the first time, but I can understand the appeal. read more

I've been going since the 60's - the Edmonds Theater is a jewel! Comfortable, well-restored, and one of the last of the old, single-screen, small-town theaters. The prices are good - love that senior discount - and nicely placed on Main St for pre- or after-show dining or bars. A real treasure. read more

Great prices and frequently show captioned movies so I never have to worry about captions going off at pivotal moments in movies! The only con is that they could serve Coke products a little more often, I need to get my Barq's fix. Other than that - all good, all good. read more

This movie theater is absolutely fantastic. I can't give it a high enough recommendation. The staff are wonderful, the seating is comfortable, the price is more than reasonable and I have had nothing but great experiences here. It's honestly spoiled me on other theaters. Not only do they have first run movies, but they have fun nights that appeal to my geeky side (for example this Thursday they are showing Galaxy Quest, other times they show Dr Who and other tv shows on the big screen), it is wonderful for families and perfect for a date. read more

Fun local theater with family ownership. This place is great for bringing kids and enjoying a film in a small-town atmosphere. The sound system was recently updated and the food is reasonable for theater fare. The chairs could use improvement, but the relaxed environment is infectious. This is a great family owned one screen theatre which also means there aren't outrageous prices.

It's like a step back in time. This is going to the movies as I remember it as a child. The prices are even reasonable. We paid $8 on a Saturday night. There is no where else near Seattle you can do that. The popcorn didn't cost a bag of gold either. My only complaint is that the bathrooms are upstairs. It was quite a climb for my wife and I. However if you ask you can use the restroom next door at the Thai Restaurant which belongs to the same family. All in all it was well worth the trip and we will be back. read more

Cheap movies. They seem to have only one showing room so it's pretty straight forward. It has that old movie theater vibe. A lot of kids present so expect some noise during the movie. This is a great independently owned movie theater with a balcony. The popcorn is reasonably priced and ticket price is fair ($8 for a ticket). I had a great time here. The theater is older but very cozy and has a great historic feel. Located in a nice area as well. You can tell the owners are trying to keep costs reasonable. There are 1 - 2 movies in rotation.
