Family Friendly BINGO! Kids over the age of 10 (with an adult) are welcome to play. If you like playing live BINGO, in a 100% smoke free bingo parlor, enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, play some pull-tabs, and win some cash-ola, this is the place to go. This place is easy to find - between I-5 and HWY 99, off of 220th; officially in Mountlake Terrace, but is just south of Lynnwood and north of Shoreline. Plenty of free parking. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Most of the staff have been working here for years. They are always smiling and playful. The games are easy to follow and pay a decent amount. They have lots of TV's to see the called numbers and lots of TV's playing sports. There are 30+ games called during a session. There are 11 sessions a week (see photo of flyer for times). Sessions usually last 2.5 hours. Doors open an hour before each session. Multiple fun games are played during each session. For example, they will have a "game winner along the way" or have some games where a consolation number is called. Each month they have a different calendar where they have discounted days like 1/2 price machines, larger payouts, or 2 for 1 Bonanza's on the machine day. My favorite is when they have "Crying Days"; where you get a second chance to win if your number is the next number called. My winning number always seems to be the very next number! They have raffles during the month for things like free game play or a big screen TV. If you come play on your birthday, you will receive a special treat. Reasonably priced snack and beverage machines are available. Along with a refrigerator with some foods you can heat up in a microwave. They supply coffee ($1) and ice; bring your own cup. Or you can bring your own food and drinks! I highly recommend this BINGO Hall. Big groups or parties are always welcome. Call ahead to reserve a table if you have a lot of people coming to play with you.

As for the gaming side, it just wasn't great for us. My husband usually has decent luck at places like Emerald Queen and Muckleshoot, but here he didn't win anything on the slot machines. He tried a few pull tabs and walked away with $7 total, which obviously isn't much. I personally wasn't interested in the slots at all. The main reason we came was because I wanted to try bingo for the first time. My only reference point was honestly TV and movies, so keep that in mind. I was pretty surprised by the overall experience. A lot of the people playing bingo were... unfriendly. Some looked like they'd been there all day, and one woman literally glared at me every time I got up to get a drink or use the bathroom, which was uncomfortable -- especially since she was seated right near the drink station on the top floor. What shocked me the most was how quiet it was. Like, library-level quiet. My friends and I felt like we couldn't even talk to each other and ended up texting instead. People were shushing others around us, which made the whole thing feel tense. The bingo session itself was also very long. I did get a lot of reading done on my phone, though -- if I ever came back to play bingo again, I'd definitely bring a book and order food immediately so I had something to snack on. I didn't win anything at bingo. My husband did win, but he had to split it with three other people, so the payout was minimal. The staff at the front counter when you first walk in was super nice, and that stood out. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff just kind of felt like they were there to hang out rather than actively help or engage. Overall, the place has a bit of a weird vibe. It was an interesting experience, but with so many other casinos in the area, this wouldn't be my first choice to return to.

But it's clean and well-maintained, has a nice mix of mainstream and art-house films, offers bulk candy, and is staffed by universally nice people. I ordered a coffee once and assumed I'd need to pop back out to the lobby in five minutes to pick it up--imagine my shock when someone *came and found me* at my seat instead. (Yes, this was before the show.) It was wholly unnecessary, and just the kind of small human touch that makes the Crest such a pleasure. Also, you know how at huge megaplexes you actually have to go track down an employee to report a sound or projection problem? (Or if, say, the wrong film is playing entirely, as happened to me at Thornton Place last summer?) Doesn't happen here because they actually pay attention. I've only ever experienced a couple of technical issues here anyway, and each time the staff was already on top of it.

Turns out the line had to be processed by two cash registers, who were taking food orders. There was no line for ticket holders who wanted to get to their seats. Both the manager and the general manager did nothing to move the line along, even though the movie started. We sat a few minutes into the movie, we should've just walked right in, but we wanted to scan the tickets. Honestly, the most nonsensical and unfriendly Service I've had in a movie theater for a long time. They offered apologies but no explanation why they couldn't have a separate line for ticket holders who are not interested in buying food. They gave us three passes as "compensation" but the shabby nature of the theater and the poor customer service make it unlikely that I will ever return.

Due to Sonic game traffic I arrive late and stressed out but guess what that was OK because at 7:15pm they still had not started yet! I find the table I'm assigned too and it's probably the shittiest table there, it may have been in the front row but it back in the far corner where you couldn't see the stage and the sound was horrible but hey it's a fund raiser for the Lifelong AIDS Alliance what's girl to do, I couldn't really bitch and moan about it could I? For those not in the know Gay Bingo is, Seattle's wildest and wackiest fundraiser, hosted by 7'2" drag queen extraordinaire GLAMAZONIA, with assistance from Miss Intermission and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Gay Bingo is a wild night of cash prizes, costumes and music --- all while playing bingo! (Stolen from their website) The first game starts and couldn't see or hear the numbers being called so I had to keep asking others at my table for help and I'm not that old. I finally move seats so I could attempt to see the Bingo board, I can hear better but not see any better, go figure. This goes on for 14 games of Bingo, with your admission in you get 10 games for $20 and can buy four other special games once you get there, I opted for just the 10 games and was content with just them. Anways, I guess I should get to the meat of it, Gay Bingo is for fun and great for socializing and donating money it's not for the serious Bingo player, please note I'm not a serious Bingo player this was only my third time playing bingo EVER. It was fun and entertaining watching the drunken gay boys dressed as pirates smack each other upside the head and the ass with their swords. Would I go back sure if I was guaranteed a better table front and center where all the action was so I could see what's going on if not I'd rather support them in some other way like writing a check out or something.

The drinks were SO watered down (14 bucks for two pink drinks that tasted like Kool aid) and I was sorta grossed out by the bar person making change, making drinks, and then sticking her fingers in the cherries to plunk into my drink. Blech. Anyway, everything there is overpriced but it's for a good cause. 25 bucks for the regular games, 10 bucks for the special games. The entertainment was fine, with the lovely Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence parading around in their 6 inch heels and fantastic makeup, and there was a burlesque dancer who wasn't very sexy but was still fun to see her tasseled ta-ta's doing their thing. The chick who called numbers during the second half, Miss Intermission, was seriously obnoxious and her voice peeled the lenses right off my eyeballs. I wouldn't go back because it's loud, my ears were ringing for hours afterwards. I'm not that sensitive; I go to sports events and concerts and don't feel like I'm going deaf, but this was just horrific. Also, we were in the very back and it was hard to see the numbers and the stage, even though we had reserved tables. The table next to us had the rollergirls; those ladies look tough and I wouldn't want to run into them on the rink! They were funny and really enjoyed their night, which rubbed off on us, in a nice way. Go Rollergirls! Anyway, it was fun, but I've done the Castro at Halloween and Folsom Street and the SF Gay Parade, so none of it was particularly "Oh My GAWD" for me, it was just more of the same campy stuff I've seen since the 80's. I wouldn't ride the train up and get a hotel room overnight for it again. It was expensive and in the end, I really didn't have a great time. I'm glad I got to donate to charity and see some friends. Next time I'll just send a check to Rosehedge (rosehedge.org, AIDS Housing and Healthcare for Seattle), where my friends are on the board of directors and hit me up for a donation every year.
