The Eagles is a unique little Kirkland spot. For one, it's a private club. So you have to be a member. They'll let you in to check it out, but you have to be escorted and signed in by an existing member. Oh and to get in, ring the doorbell by the front door and once you hear the buzzer it means it's unlocked. Once inside you'll find plenty of regular members, friendly bartenders (especially Karen - she's the best!) and games to play. Golden tee, pool, ping pong, shuffleboard and on Sundays Bingo. Tasty drinks and food too! The hall space is also available to rent out for parties and such if you are a member or not.

Drinks are not cheap and the happy hour pricing is a joke. For a 'private' club there is no benefit for the alcohol or food.

I joined In the Loop Seattle (ITL) in 2021 when I was new to the city and looking to find my group…read moreof friends. From my very first interview with Danielle, I felt incredibly welcomed--and the rest is history. ITL has hosted extravagant events, but more importantly, it has introduced me to some of my closest friends. Through this group, I've taken trips, celebrated birthdays and holidays, and even had the honor of officiating my best friend's wedding--someone I met through ITL. One thing I appreciated from the start was ITL's clear distinction that it's not a dating site. That was exactly why I joined--I wasn't looking to date, just to find a solid, supportive group of friends. Since then, we've all been there for each other through the ups and downs of dating, offering advice or a listening ear after a bad date. No matter what, ITL is always there to lift your spirits. ITL delivers on its promise: it's a way for singles to meet and have a great time. They do an excellent job of organizing events within specific age brackets so you're always surrounded by people in your own stage of life. And once a month, everyone comes together for mixers, making it easy to expand your circle. Lastly, Kara (the owner) and Danielle (the Marketing Director) are the heart and soul of ITL. They lead with passion, humor, and an undeniable ability to throw an amazing event. I have never been disappointed, and they always bring incredible energy and unforgettable stories. If you haven't joined ITL yet, you're missing out--so sign up ASAP!

I have been to Ireland, Cabo, Thailand and soon St. Lucia with folks from all four locations across the the country. This group has gotten me out of the house and out of the country which is why I remain an active member.

We have used the RC for two client appreciation/business development events and not only do we love it, our clients do too! The food is always great (a highlight is the appetizer bacon wrapped dates), the drinks are tasty and the bartenders are pleasant, and as an organizer I think the spaces are beautiful and perfectly decorated. My photos below are of the space for our most recent event in the Cutter Room. Thank you endlessly to all the staff that is always welcoming, professional, and helpful.

It's members only, but isn't snooty or pretentious. They hire kind and professional uniformed staffers who go beyond the call of duty. Sit over tasty potstickers and French champagne perhaps at the grand upstairs bar late afternoon looking out at the grey rain - but avoid the (dprk airline tasting) beef and broccoli bowl and the $2 well burnt nuts. The food prices are kept wonderfully low. Clubs do want members to actually hangout. The club is an absolute haven and perfect for business lunches, cocktail hours, and weddings (a fireplace so big even NBA players could walk in), and to just get lost in thought in spacious quiet elegance in a place great-great-grandfathers lit cigars.

Each pool of the North Division of the Seattle Summer Swim League spurred different conversation…read moretopics when we traveled to them for swim meets when I competed on the youth team for Innis Arden (1999 to 2010). Interestingly, with Sand Point Country Club the conversation revolved around pool set-up, concessions, and human interactions. As I aged into my teenage years, I started to pick up on this more. Windows served as the barrier between the pool deck and a parking lot below, which made some people with a fear of heights slightly nauseous. So, they would sit with their backs turned to parking lot and not turn around. The line for concessions was well organized and marked off and concessions prices were decent. If I wanted to not spend too much money, I would bring most of my food/snacks from home and get one thing. Towards the end of my time on the team, the human interactions conversation was geared towards concern over upwards mobility in swimming. A couple of the other girls/women wanted to go further but did not like the tactics USA Swimming used of publicity stunt relationships where people were paired with whoever USA Swimming wanted instead of who they were really with to paint a picture of what swimming in America "should" look like. They sent off some very strong vibes of blaming country club culture, which in our summer league swimming meant Sand Point. I have encountered the "should" (also known as obligation or entitled) culture outside of swimming and Sand Point, so that was not a personal problem I had. However, it did direct conversation while here. Locker rooms were clean and would get dirtier during the swim meet, though staff still ran their locker room sweeps and stayed on top of it as best they could. The ribbons station was easy to find and tended to not get too backed up. The area around the starting blocks was not too cramped. Event numbers were displayed high up and were easy to see from across the pool. Bleacher seating was available.
