Crest Cinema is a "seasoned" theater, perhaps an institution. It's worn in and comfortable like a sweatshirt you've had for a decade, and it still feels good to wear. It seems to be filling a niche for art cinema showing movies that you might night find at the two big chains in the Seattle area. Tuesday nights are value night on tickets. You can hit up the concession stand for the usual popcorn and candy, or you can even have a beer or wine with your movie.

Trying nachos with extra cheese (or cheez?) not popcorn (5/20/17)

Always enjoyed The Crest well before being a Shoreliner for over 15 years now. Free theater and street parking available. Wide variety of recent movies at discount prices plus they take debit/credit cards too.Ticket and concession staff are super friendly. Late this afternoon on a whim stopped by and checked what movies were being featured. Score - 20 minutes before "Hidden Figures" started! Bought a ticket and cheesy nachos (instead of popcorn). Noticed the theater I was in was clearly updated...nice cushy seats and no sticky floors! There's also a few spots nearby to also enjoy before or after The Crest: 7-11 (I like Super Big Gulps), Café Aroma (dorky name, but decent coffee), and Ridgecrest Pub (they have Rachel's Ginger Beer and rotating food trucks from 5-9pm, especially Saturdays with Chebogz Filipino Cuisine!). ***Now if only Sears would close, expand Appassionato Coffee, add a bookstore, add rotating food trucks, clone The Crest to take its place by Central Market, by bus lines, lots of parking. Now that would make Shoreline and Shoreline CC even more appealing, just saying!***

This local theater is truly iconic and a great joy to watch movies in. On the outside, the place may look a bit run down but inside, it is very well renovated. There is also plenty of parking next to the theater. They show many movies that are not mainstream, which is an extra perk. I came here for an afternoon showing of RBG, for only $4.

I love this theater. I have been here multiple times. Every screening is $3. Each room size is comparable with a typical theater room. It may not look "fancy" as some other theaters or its seats may not be the most comfortable but it surely is a good bargain. There are just about enough theater parking in its lot. You pay with either cash or card with ID.

Hard to find but once you're there, the sound quality is good, popcorn is tasty, and seats are comfortable.

Objectively not the best cinema, but I have so many memories seeing movies here over the decades. You can get beer too.

My hubs and I love this movie from 1989 and it was wonderful to see it in a classic, vintage theater (100+ years old!) with a good-sized crowd. So fun to laugh and cry with lots of people at the movies again!! The COVID pandemic took this tradition away and I am really hoping more people start going back to the movies again. The staff were friendly and the place was clean and full of good popcorn smells. We didn't partake though because $9 for a small bag of popcorn is just too expensive. But we appreciated this nice, old theater and we will be back.

Just such an enjoyable experience whenever I frequented it. Unfortunately from what I understand it was recently sold. Sigh. It's STILL a great old school theater, but that's about all that has remained. The fun, quirky, employees that always seemed to enjoy their work and showed their commitment to our lovely community have been replaced by dour, seemingly VERY unhappy and just CRANKY employees. I worked in Costumer Service for 30 years, and believe me it's HARD, especially during and after COVID. IMHO employees ACT like this under really bad mangers and management. Miserable employees treat customers with no kindness, no joy. My advice to management is FIX yourselves and the employee will follow. 'Nuf said! Best of luck, you bought a GEM, I hope you can find it again and KEEP IT.

You have option of waiting for tickets from cashier outside or heading indoors to one automated kiosk. There are a few floors with escalators amd stairs or one elevator. This time I used elevator since the escalators were turned off and I needed the top floor. The screen is HUGE. I found that sitting in upper deck in front wasn't far back enough and prefer back and center to get the full view of the picture. Sound is very loud during previews and ads but quiets a bit for the film, which I was glad of. Seats are comfortable enough but they don't recline or have foot rests like many do now days. I've seen so many movies here and the screens and sound are always good. One thing to note is that they do not have recliners though if you're looking for that. The woman at customer service took the safety concern very serious and was extremely helpful and kind. I appreciate the staff here for always making the moment right. That day a staff member also helped me at the concessions with a free popcorn since we couldn't locate it in my app which was highly appreciated. The staff do a great job here! I will definitely be returning and do recommend this theater for a relaxed movie experience :)

The people who go frequently definitely all seem to know each other and the staff that work here. It's changed a bit over the years and no longer has food available besides from vending machines and a few refrigerated items. Seems like a lot of people bring their own food and make a night out of it. I was surprised to see children were able to play as well., apparently you do need 10 or older. I do like that this is a non profit that supports junior hockey. I have no idea how prices compare to other bingo locations, but I do appreciate the number of tvs and screens available and that the callers speak clearly. It seems like there is always something special going on. I recently tried the electronic gaming machine which does seem to take most of the fun out of bingo, but I won 480$ so I can't complain. There are also pull tabs to keep you entertained while you wait during breaks.

Even when you are right in front of it, you worry that you might be at the wrong door. There's plenty of parking and some stairs to the theater on both sides of the complex (I believe there is handicapped access in the back). We saved some money by getting our tickets on groupon via goldstar. Picking up tickets a few minutes before the show at the will call desk was pretty easy. Its also good to know there are beverages available should you desire something to drink. This theater is pretty small, making all seats good seats. We were able to see the stage easily, although like most older theaters seating is a bit cramped. It was also a bit warm in the theater. We saw The female of the species which was an enjoyable comedy about a subject matter that appeals to me. I appreciated the sign in the lobby alerting me that there were gun shots to be expected during the performance. It was also helpful of them to discuss how to become season ticket holders prior to the show, prices are very reasonable and even cheaper for seniors. We definitely thought this made for a nice evening out and plan to check out some of the other upcoming shows.

Before I get into the stuff, I want to point out that the greatest strength of the place is that it's a community. I'm a regular member, and in awe at the work that the volunteers do to make it great for everyone. I try to do my part too. Most of the good stuff is for members only, but they also have regular classes that are open to non-members. Membership covers rent on the space, use and maintenance of equipment, and lots of basic supplies. It's well-equipped enough for advanced makers, and supportive and welcoming enough for newbies. Here's my descriptive tour: The space is in a building with businesses on the ground floor, and apartments above. The front door leads past some salons. The door to the space is on the left near the end of the hall. To get in, members use an RFID key; visitors are let in by a member or just walk in on open house days. There's a large multi-purpose room with big tables and lots of tools and supplies along the walls. The biggest tool in the room is a heavy duty sewing machine; I think it can stitch through leather. There's a door to a deck where members can do outdoor work. The front room opens into a lounge area with more tables and quite a few bookshelves full of books and board games. In the hall, there's a space for members' lockers. Just beyond that is the wood shop, which has all sorts of useful hand tools and power tools. There's a large CNC milling machine that I really want to learn how to use. There's a cool dust-removal system. About the only wood shop tool that I can think of that's absent is a lathe. There's a bathroom with a cool light fixture and the necessary facilities. Around a corner, there's a space for some typical office equipment. Opposite, the 3D printing room has enough filament 3D printers that I've never heard of all of them being busy or out of service at once. There's a resin 3D printer that builds layers through a high-resolution optical process, inside a booth that contains the fumes well enough that its weird smells are imperceptible through the rest of the space. There's a 3D scanner that I want to try out. (Unlike most stuff at the space, 3D printers have a per-hour cost to use, which covers filament and maintenance.) Next is the electronics room. I don't know much about the stuff in there, but every time I've asked about something electronic, someone has told me, "Yeah, we have that." People make cool robot stuff there. The fiber arts room has a computer embroidery machine that I'm looking forward to making stuff with. There's a projection system for cutting fabric from projected digital patterns (instead of old-fashioned tissue paper patterns). There's a lot of other sewing equipment, and stuff for other fiber arts, such as knitting. Across from the fiber arts room is a kitchen, more like an office break room than a full-featured kitchen, but great for making tea or coffee, or warming up snacks from the Safeway across the street. Around another corner is the laser room. It has a Mira 9, a fast, powerful laser cutter with a large workspace (two by three feet). There's also a Glowforge, a desktop sized laser cutter. (Laser cutters have an hourly fee because they're maintenance is expensive.) Finally, there's the Wazer room. What'a Wazer? It's a waterjet cutting machine, which can cut through metal, ceramic, glass, possibly even kryptonite. It uses water at extremely high pressure, with a slurry of garnet abrasive. I want to learn to use it! (It has a fee because maintenance and the garnet are expensive.) The Wazer room opens to a small deck. About the only maker department that isn't well covered is metalworking. A _few_ of the woodworking tools can also be used on metal, the Wazer can cut metal, and the Dremel in the craft zone can be used on metal. But if you want to do welding, forging, heavy-duty bending, casting, and so forth, there aren't a lot of options in metro Seattle. It's also not a ceramics shop. I've been a member for quite a while, which is about as strong an endorsement as I can offer.
