My friend moved to the area and we are into theater so we decided to check this out. It's hidden on the upper level of an old strip mall in a place you would not think to look. Even when you are right in front of it, you worry that you might be at the wrong door. There's plenty of parking and some stairs to the theater on both sides of the complex (I believe there is handicapped access in the back). We saved some money by getting our tickets on groupon via goldstar. Picking up tickets a few minutes before the show at the will call desk was pretty easy. Its also good to know there are beverages available should you desire something to drink. This theater is pretty small, making all seats good seats. We were able to see the stage easily, although like most older theaters seating is a bit cramped. It was also a bit warm in the theater. We saw The female of the species which was an enjoyable comedy about a subject matter that appeals to me. I appreciated the sign in the lobby alerting me that there were gun shots to be expected during the performance. It was also helpful of them to discuss how to become season ticket holders prior to the show, prices are very reasonable and even cheaper for seniors. We definitely thought this made for a nice evening out and plan to check out some of the other upcoming shows. read more

Bought tickets to Wonder of the World on a whim. Saw on facebook or something. I had no idea there was a theater there. Seats maybe 150 people. All seats were sold out. The seats are a bit tight, but well tiered so all seats have a good view. The lighting, sound, and technical handling of the stage combined with the top notch acting made this the best night out with my wife in a long time. Without exception everyone was rolling in laughter. Just bought tickets to the next play (She Kills Monsters) and am looking forward to it. Thank You! read more

The Phoenix Theater used to be called Edge of the World Theater. I had never been there under old management and I'm not very big on small theater. Phoenix recently re-opened after a remodel. An ad in a local free paper caught our attention for a play called "Rounding Third"...a play about little league baseball. This theater is small and located in an innocuous little strip mall behind another strip mall in a largely residential area. It is also on the 2nd floor of the building which seems odd for a theater. This operation is pretty "start-up. We went to buy our tickets about 2 hours before showtime...the nice woman who sold us the admission didn't give us tickets. She said just come back at 8 for the show...no receipt, no tickets. She assured us she would be there and would recognize us. When we returned, yes, she did recognize us and there were only about 12 people in the audience. The theater itself is small...probably as large as the center section of the front section of a movie theater. Restrooms are small, but clean and equipped. Modest refreshment availability sold on donation basis only. The seats are old style theater, not the most comfortable for my back and it was too warm for my husband who likes the room temperature at about 66 degrees. The show itself was really fun...I think Phoenix features comedies, which is just what we need with the economy at hand. The acting was spot on...funny with some touching moments at the end. Both actors were really great. Of course, since we had personal "hands on" experience in the Little League baseball world, it was easy for us to connect with the drama. Plenty of parking. Phoenix needs to grow its awareness level among the Snohomish County public, maybe more signage in the front of the front strip mall and a publilc relations blitz on local TV, radio and the Seattle Times. I would have never discovered them had the play not been about baseball. Cute theater...similar to the Taproot Theater in Seattle proper. Phoenix has better seating and a real front stage compared to the Taproot which has a much larger following. I look forward to seeing Phoenix Theater grow in popularity and wish them all the best and steady growth. read more

I've been here for years and had no idea there was a theatre in that strip mall. What a gem! Casual and welcoming. While waiting to enter, a lady who worked there told us they do about 8 plays during the season and a couple of fun events in the summer. Lots of activity for a small theatre group in my neighborhood. It's not Broadway but it seems like a very sincere outfit and the performances were great. Side note: Someone complained about the seating. The seats are fine. It's a small theatre, and seating is very typical of a small venue (i.e., people need to stand up to let someone by). That's why they don't seat latecomers while the play is in progress. read more

My wife and I had never been to the Phoenix Theater, and were looking forward to seeing the comedy 'Women In Jeopardy'. We regrettably give it a one star because of the script. It was fairly crass throughout. It included suggestive sexual 'humor' that did not land, and was at times offensive. For a comedy, it was not very funny! This may be more of a critique on 'Women in Jeopardy' than the Phoenix Theatre. Explaining on the website that the show includes some adult humor would have been helpful. To be fair, it definitely seemed to work for most in the audience, just not for us. read more

Very nice venue, very well run. Decent concessions, efficient front-of-house operation, plenty of parking, comfortable seating (no bad seats in the house), and of course, the show was quite enjoyable (Hart and Kaufman's Once In a Lifetime). Just saw the first performance for the new improv show at the Phoenix, "Breakout" and it was great - both the show and the setting. This theatre is unassuming from the outside, but once you are inside, it's like being in an off-broadway theatre in NYC. Don't let the strip mall exterior keep you from checking it out. And don't let what you think you might know about improv keep you away from this show. Every theatre needs a beginning and a home, and this place feels like home. And every improv troupe needs a home. I'm glad the cast of Breakout is feelin' the love at the Phoenix! read more
