I was so impressed the moment I saw the cake! It looked beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. We called and asked for a gender reveal cake to serve 14 people and brought an envelope in with the gender of our baby. Nobody but our provider and the baker knew if our baby was a girl or a boy until we cut into this beautiful cake with our family around us. It was such a special and memorable party celebrating our new baby: A GIRL! I loved walking into the bakery, smelling the wonderful pastries and having a fun conversation with the kind employees that helped us. I couldn't recommend this bakery enough. They went above and beyond our expectations. We will definitely be coming back here in the future for more special events and when the sweets are calling our name. After seeing the owner boast his "build the wall" cookies, it makes sense that her inquiries were ignored since she had a clearly Spanish last name. The owner used to to respond to the reviews regarding the cookies and was proud to display it. Until he probably realized it wasn't good for business. Looks like Yelp cleaned that up. I wanted to like this place, I've lived in Edmonds for over a year and finally got to check it out last Sunday. Wished I hadn't stopped though. I ordered donuts and cookies. The donuts I had to throw away and the cookies were pretty hard. Normally I may attest this to a bakery if I had visited a slow weekday morning, but this was the weekend, things theoretically should have been fresh. I could never pass on a local bakery. Edmonds Bakery was my stop for today's lunch since I work nearby and it was such a cute and cozy little bakery in downtown. The bakery is decorated with knick knacks and I enjoyed the heavenly aroma of baked goods. I had their Roast Beef Sandwich, it was delicious and a slice of Chocolate cake which was fine, not the best because it just tasted like hot cocoa powder. They have a variety of selections of baked goods including cookies, donuts, puff pastries and cakes. The cashier wasn't as friendly to me compared to other customers that came in and I also think they could do a little extra cleaning/scrubbing around the place. Other than that, everything's okay. We came here on a rainy Saturday and it wasn't too crowded. This is right on the main street and is a cute locally owned and operated place. The interior was dark though as they had the lights turned low. There was no line and the teenager helping me was very knowledgeable and nice. They did not have any gluten-free varieties, but we ended up going with a chocolate glazed and it was good. It did not taste as fresh as I would have liked and it did crumble a bit, but nonetheless was a good donut. I would certainly come back here, but it wasn't the best donut I've ever had. read more

We've taken filthy to a whole new level. I have been here before, about 6 years ago. I don't remember it being like this then. I had a sticky bun, tonya had a half and half maple/chocolate bar. The product tasted great. That's where the review on that ends. Their kitchen and equipment visible from the front opening behind the display is disgustingly filthy. The floor is covered in crumbs, a used paper plate and every table top has crumbs all over. The table we sat at had someone's used paper cup sitting on it. The upper walls are lined with odd cookie jars, which I thought were fine even though others found them creepy. It's... eccentric. The display cases have a cloudy sheen on them because they haven't been properly cleaned. The front door and windows are covered in hand and finger prints as are the frames of old photos on the walls. The grout in the tiles appears to have been sealed at some point but now it's chipping out and black, making hard to tell if it's just old sealer or dirty black chunk from not mopping. The cleanest table in the place was the one that 3 elderly ladies sat at because they wiped up after themselves as they left. There is also a slight odor in the air, that has nothing to do with baking. Despite having sit down tables as well as soup and sandwiches, there is no restroom. Apparently there's no broom closet or mop bucket either... Although the product tasted fine and fresh, I would have concerns over its method of production and what goes on in the back. They certainly don't clean their equipment. As we sat here, an older aproned gentleman, presumably the baker, or owner (or both) was taking a cake order at a table covered in crumbs. As he got up to go to the back, he looked at the table next to us and rhe crumbs and paper plate and just kept walking. 25 minutes later, it still sits there and nothing has been wiped down. This place has the appearance of something that used to be a great bakery that has long since lost its passion for the industry. My recommendation is find another bakery. *edit* we walked by 3 hours later, tables are still covered in crumbs and the same mess in the photo with the paper plate on the floor was still there. I ordered my daughters first birthday smash cake from this bakery about one month after my friend had ordered her daughters cake (same cake, different color) and highly recommended it. Not only was I charged $5 more, the cake was awful. The rosettes were so bad that I was embarrassed to have this cake at my party (every other homemade dessert looked better). On top of that, the colors were wrong AND the cake/filling flavor was wrong as well. What's worse is that the response to my detailed email expressing my concern and request for a refund was "of course sorry" and that's it. I've inquired more as to how I can obtain this refund (driving to Edmonds is a bit out of the way, which is why my friend picked up the cake in the first place) but have not gotten any response. I wouldn't special order anything here. The cake tasted fine so if you see something you like in the store then you're probably safe. read more

We were just passing through on the way to our vacation in the Puget Sound. We grabbed 3 day old chicken bones. Donuts are not suppose to be good after a day. Long overdue review here. I've been going to the Edmonds Bakery since I was 9 years old. I grew up in Edmonds and it was always a special treat to go get a Snickerdoodle with family or friends. It's been so wonderful to see the character and quality of the bakery remain the same even after it received new owners. I got married last year in June, and of course wanted to have our wedding cake done by Edmonds Bakery. Ken, the owner, was wonderful in setting up an appointment, and having a multitude of samples ready to go. He had some quality insight and exemplified wonderful customer service that helped my husband and I to come to a great and easy decision. We loved our cake! It was beautiful and delicious, and arrived in pristine condition. We're expecting a baby in June of this year, and our dear friends threw us a 'Gender Reveal Party' a few weeks back. We announced the gender with a cake, and of course, went back to Edmonds Bakery to have them make it. They were more than willing to accommodate our small time frame (from doctor with gender-revealing envelope to the baker---all before the party that evening). And the cake was adorable and so delicious. My husband and I are so thankful for this charming bakery, it's quality service and delicious sweets. This place has been around for ever so you would think it would be good. It's not. I've been in there twice in the last month and a half. The first time I got peanutbutter cookies which were stale. I thought maybe it was an off day so I went again a couple of weeks ago. That time I got a piece of tiramisu. I love tiramisu but this was horrible. It was dry as a bone. Starbucks is always crowded no matter what time of day. The first time I came to this bakery I don't think anyone was in there and the second time two ladies were talking at a table. There is a reason why it's not crowded. Instead of trying to make the bakery better, it appears the owner thinks his time is better used denying the problems and being combative with reviewers. This place is filled with goodies!! I picked a selection of donuts, cookies and other baked goods. My family and I were all pleased with the selections. The bakery is clean and well stocked.
