Grilled Pork Sandwich and Vietnamese Coffee
    Nikita S.

Best banh mi in town! I've been wanting to try this place for a couple of months, and I'm so glad I finally did. The ambiance is very casual and welcoming. During rush hour the parking gets full pretty quickly. It seems to be run by an Asian family, and they were some of the kindest, sweetest people I've ever met in the food industry. There were 8 of us, and the owner kindly brought extra chairs and pushed tables together so we could all sit comfortably. He brought us iced water, and when we asked for water without ice, he smiled so warmly and immediately replaced it. I ordered the grilled pork banh mi, and it was hands down the freshest banh mi I've ever had. The bread was perfectly crispy, and every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh. I also ordered a Vietnamese coffee it was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it paired really well with the banh mi. They also offer bakery items. I tried the ube pastry, which was very enjoyable. Someone at our table ordered the veg pho, and I tasted the broth it was delicious. I'll definitely be trying it next time, although it'll be hard to choose between the pho and the banh mi!

I have loved this place for years. Consistently amazing food & service. I am someone who has a high bar for good food, and I have never been disappointed with Rise & Shine.

Rise & Shine, the intoxicating aroma of Vietnamese banh mi, pho, and fresh pastries are what the doctor ordered. This was my first meal in Seattle once we got settled and wow, delicious! This is the type of place you want in your neighborhood. Family owned, nothing flashy, just honest food at a good price. Gotta give a shoutout to the young gentleman behind the counter who was friendly as could be, while running around the dining room and filling to-go orders. Special Combo Sandwich // The No. 1 or "Dac Biet" (special). 3 types of meat: Vietnamese version of mortadella, a headcheese or terrine of pig ear and snout, and ham; garnished with mayo, pate, daikon, cucumber, jalapeño, cilantro, and onion served on homemade baked French baguettes. I came here for one thing only: a banh mi. And damnit, this is a GREAT one. Traditional, umami bomb of salty meats, flavor contrast from the veggies, all assembled perfectly in between crunchy bread. Yum, yum, yum, I should've ordered two! In addition, I took home an order of pho and a frozen Vietnamese coffee for my wife, and she was in heaven. I tried both and they were textbook. Should I move to the Seattle suburbs to live around the corner from Rise & Shine? I won't rule it out!!!!

    Pork bahn mi

This is one of the best bahn mi I have tried. Their service was great, we were greeted and the then we ordered on the counter. I ordered the pork bahn mi and asked for it to be spicy and they added spicy sauce. The bread was crunchy and soft which was amazing and the pork was delicious. The place has a lot of seating, parking can be difficult and we parked on the other side of the highway. Would for sure visit the place again

Very friendly mom and pop shop with many options on the menu to choose from. Theres Bahn Mi and Pho and pastries available to order. I got the Pho and it was made with a well balanced flavor that was not overpowered in any direction. Theres plenty of indoor seating and space for you to enjoy eating inside. The staff was very friendly and attentive and I felt very welcomed inside. Id highly recommend anyone drop by for a bite to eat.

Always good food here. Can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches! Friendly people too. Wish they were open earlier though cuz sometimes I'm craving their sandwiches for breakfast haha.

(Sep'25) today's special - egg noodle with char siu, shrimp, ground pork, squid. Chose dry style and soup on side

Family run business with excellent customer service. They are open about wait times and are accommodating to special requests. Thoroughly enjoy eating there and is easily a hidden gem none of us want to share.

    Grilled Beef Sandwich!

I tried R&S because the online reviews were positive, and I have to say I agree with them. I tried for the Crispy Pork Belly, but they were sold out that day. I will definitely be back and call earlier to make sure I experience that sizzling pork concoction. But the Grilled Beef was delicious too. Great service, can't wait for my next sandwich!

    Pork sausage banh mi

Hadn't been to Rise & Shine Bakery for awhile but happened to be in the area and needed a quick bite for a late lunch. I was excited to get the meatball banh mi again but they were sold out of that one. I opted for the pork sausage one, because the guy working said it's made in house. So good and glad I got it! Service is always friendly and welcoming. I need to come back to try one of the specials on the weekend, still.

    Black Milk Tea w/ Boba

Easy to miss store on the side of Highway 99 unless you're actively looking for it. Yellow building past the Public Storage. There's a small parking lot but many people place to-go orders so traffic in and out of the lot is constant. It's nice to have a banh mi spot closer to home than our go-to in Lynnwood. Also snagged boba because it was available and there weren't too many comments around it. Grilled Pork and Fried Egg Banh Mi - they do not skimp on ingredients here and each sandwich is a very filling meal. Prices are pretty fair, falling in the middle of the banh mi price range I've experienced. Definitely add a fried egg to whatever banh mi you opt for because it enhances everything. As a bakery, I believe they make their baguettes in house and they're fluffier (more airy) than usual. However, this somewhat conflicts with the toasted, crispy aspect. It comes down to preference but I lean towards a more crispy baguette (the fluffy was a nice change though). Black Milk Tea w/ Boba - firstly, I guess they don't actually have regular boba and instead substitute crystal boba. Makes sense because it would be a hassle to prepare boba everyday when it's not a big specialty, but I was expecting regular boba when looking at the menu so slightly misled. Besides that, the drink was actually solid, more on the creamier side of milk teas (tastes like creamer). Lots of ice though and not entirely sure you can order less ice. While I'd still prefer an actual boba spot, this is a nice fallback option for milk tea if you're already in the area because there aren't many decent spots towards Shoreline.

    Raspberry pastry

Fast service, warm and fresh food, and a clean restaurant. To be honest, one of the best bánh mì sandwiches I have ever had. 15/10. No complaints. And it's very reasonably priced. I grabbed the raspberry pastry which I ended up eating for dinner (nothing like dessert for a meal). It was so soft and the raspberry filling was delicious. My type of dessert cause I am not a sweets person and it wasn't overly sweet. The parking lot is pretty small, I was lucky to get the one open spot when I came in.

Pandan cream bun, Vietnamese coffee - IG @bougiefoodieboi

I went here for a quick lunch that is very takeout friendly. On a Friday it was not busy at all, but they make the sandwich to order so do expect a small wait for it. We got the special combo sandwich, pork belly sandwich, Vietnamese coffee, and pandan cream bun. Total was about $32 after tax which is decent but could be better value versus the comparables in the area. The combo sandwich is pretty good. It tasted like the usual banh mi fixings except in sandwich form. I prefer it this way so there is more filling that you can eat per bite and it hurts the jaw less from the super crunchiness of the bread. The pork belly sandwich is very flavorful but the pork belly has like 90% fat. The Vietnamese coffee is strong and the pandan cream bun was a nice, affordable sweet to finish off as a dessert. 4.5 stars overall but I rounded down because the combo sandwich on website and recent menus were $8.50 but today it was $10, so it was a bit of a small sticker shock.

    Bun Bo Hue

Interior decor is nice, could use better lighting and there are many tables for the space. Although busy staff were attentive and food was prepared promptly. Started with fresh rolls which had a fried skin inside (nice texture contrast). Hubby tried their pork chop plate which was the special. He was not a fan of how sweet it was, I agreed that it could use more salt and aromatics (fish sauce and lemongrass for ex). I got the BBH which I requested spicy, they were forth coming and notified me that they were out of pork blood. The broth could have used more salt and funk but overall had a good savory umami. There was a fair amount of tender meat and Vietnamese ham with not many noodles (which I prefer).

How does one obtain pho or bún here? I see them in the photos, but they're never on the website menu, and the one time I went in person, I didn't see them there either.

Pho' is on the menu. My boyfriend tried it last visit and the lemongrass broth was amazing. Bu'n, I'm not sure what you mean. They gave a wide selection of pastries available. If you are not finding what you are looking for, please ask the staff.

Is this place still open for business? Every time I drive by it's close. I've tried calling and no one answers.

It's open. The schedule is on the door. I talked with Mai, the owner, about this question. Since she juggles multiple locations and can't find someone who can keep up her quality standards, she is open limited hours at lunch and 2 evenings a week.… Read more

I hadn't eaten here In years and my wife never. They used to give a nice refreshing lychee water drink with a long dessert spoon for the fruit which I remember loving long ago. Many other tables had them but we were never offered it as service was brisk yet not very friendly. I ordered a Dac Biet pho (my regular choice) but they don't have tripe??? I usually pass on pho restaurants that don't serve tripe and tendon. I was at best average but honestly not near the best I've ever had in the US or Vietnam. At almost $20 for a bowl I wasn't impressed enough to say "let's go back". My wife ordered the pork vermicelli bowl (her usual). She liked it ok and I tried a bit. Again pretty tasty and in my opinion a better dish than their pho, but not worthy of returning over other choices. Overall if you are comfortable parking in a tight little parking lot to eat average food in a little old building it's not a bad choice. But I would not purposefully go back even though we shop often at Costco and Home Depot nearby.

Parking: you can park in the tiny strip mall, but it will fill up and I'm not sure what to do when they run out of spots. Service: we had no issues with the service, but the table next to us seems to have gotten a lot of orders mixed up and wrong so make sure you repeat your order and clarify what you want. I hadn't been back since a previous bad experience almost a year ago now and wanted to give this place another try. Same bad service. The bad service I received almost a year ago that made me stop coming to this place was I stopped by for lunch and got a grilled pork banh mi and asked for little to no/ very light mayo or whatever spread is on it as the visit before was too much for me and wanted to avoid that... Staff wasn't friendly that day. When I was eating the sandwich instead of little to no mayo it had globs like no exaggeration a lot/too much mayo spread for me so I did tear off a piece of the bread that I couldn't get the mayo off of and tried to take off the other globs and continued eating. I did not waste food. I just wasted the globs and a small piece of bread. I bussed my own table as that seems to be un clear if you do or don't and put the trash in the trash(globs of mayo +piece of bread) and plate near the counter. A staff member exited the kitchen and walks towards the register near the trash can and she proceeded to open the trash can and keep it open, looked at me and asked how was everything. I was honest and told her I always enjoy the food however today too much mayo and she just kept peering down at my trash in the trash and then her coworker exited the kitchen to join the convo and no sorry or anything...just kept her foot on the trash to keep it open and both employees looked at the trash and looked at me rudely so I told them thank you have a nice day and was off put by the experience. They were treating me like I was wasting or complaining. It was truly so weird like why keep the trash open and almost like try to embarrass me or treat me like I did something wrong? Also why no smiles, why no empathy. I don't like mayo..big deal! I still ate that whole sandwich! Recent visit on 06/06/26. Walked in and cafe wasn't busy, but trash on the floors and dirty tables. Two women. One seemed to be in training. No smiles, no welcome in, just a frown (no joke the woman training the other I believe was frowning and she looked mad) and a what can I get you? I ordered for dine in but was given to go box and to go utensils. I have to assume they just didn't want to do the dishes as one couple had dine in plates and were actually pointing to each other the trash on the floor and discussing their meal. I ordered the pho banh mi so I wouldn't have to worry about a mayo situation tbh. Food was flavorful and good. Portions seem to be a bit smaller than what I remember. If they added actual pho to the menu I bet it would be a hit! To-go ordering seems the popular thing here and if I return is what I'll do. Just sad as this used to be my fav spot but now I've found a better place with better service and food. Drinks here and food is super tasty but wish service, cleanliness, and atmosphere could be improved! Service is important and with my past two visits I feel it's a very unwelcoming atmosphere with the staff being hostile and cold and cafe seating indoors and outdoors are dirty. For me when spending my money somewhere I don't want to be treated poorly or like I'm an inconvenience or just being tolerated. The service leaves such a bad impression that it makes me avoid this place now when I used to recommend it.
