My husband and I came here yesterday for Valentine's day and were very impressed with the food. It was truly delicious. I had the filet mignon with mashed potatoes and can honestly say it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. He had the special, which was a bone-in ribeye with tater tots, which he loved. We really enjoyed the unique seasoning the tater tots had, even though we couldn't quite put our finger on what it was. We also ordered a side of the shrimp, which were incredibly tasty, as well as dessert. He had a banana cream pie, and I had the triple berry pie. Both were amazing and perfectly sized in adorable mini pie crusts. We both love going to the Edgar Bar and cannot recommend it enough. :( Frowny face because I'm legitimately sad about my latest experience here, and am taking my previous 5 star review down to a 3. Service was horrendous at my latest dining experience. The waitress forgot to put our order in - but failed to tell us AND failed to apologize for the wait... we were in the restaurant for over an hour and a half before our food even came out, and we witnessed tables that arrived after us pay and leave before our food even arrived! Food finally came out cooked incorrectly, the bernaise sauce was watery, and the waitress checked on us a total of 2 times in the 2 hours we were there. The manager, who usually checks in with every table (we give him our compliments every time we are there!) didn't do so, and we left feeling like we'd just wasted $$ on an Applebee's-quality meal. I've been to a lot of places that claim to have the best prime rib, but none of them have met or exceeded expectations until now. It was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy and seasoned just right. The giant prawns were delicious and the chicken fried steak was A+. The atmosphere was clean and comfortable, don't let the outside fool you. This is a classical small town Montanan bar that serves great food. And the service, for a place that is a little off the path, and had to rebook us because of Covid staffing shortage, the service was excellent! I didn't get our waitress name, but she was very delightful and friendly. Her timing was perfect. We never had to wait for a drink and she was always there at just the right time if we ever needed anything.. There are a lot of places out there that use Covid as an excuse to provide poor service, not here. I will definitely be back! read more

You know the food is good when you have a restaurant that is full on a Thursday night in the winter and is in the middle of farm fields in a very small community. The service is excellent as well. We have tried many dishes and all are good - chicken fried steak, shrimp, hamburger, pork sandwich - all good. read more

New York strip is amazing - flavor, profile are amazing. Medium rare was cooked to perfection and the quality of meat is excellent. One of the best steaks, if not the best steak I've had in montana. And it was ordered to-go and eaten 30 minutes after pickup. I believe it would rival some of the best steakhouses nationwide. Ingredients used were fresh for the sides, chicken strips were also some of the best and I'm not usually a fan of fried foods, but the batter was light and the chicken was moist. We sat at the table behind the other gentlemen which you also came to check in and walked away. Then two more gentlemen walked in and you immediately served them. Always had such good food and service here, last night was the complete opposite. Party of six for my wifes birthday, place wasnt busy. Waitress was very distracted and not attentive. Had to ask the bartender several times simple questions she didnt know, "do we have NA beer, can we make a Manhattan?" Apps came quick and were good. Food came and only one order was correct. Shrimp undercooked and doughy batter. All the steaks were greatly undercooked. Had to send back food twice. Completely raw in the middle rib steaks. Waitress didnt care. Mentioned again wifes birthday, "oh okay." Tell us we don't do anything for birthdays or something dont just assume I was telling you for no reason. Absolutely Amazing! The best burger I have ever had! We are from the Denver area and were in Billings to see family and went to the Edgar Bar for a big family dinner. My husband had the Ribeye, nephew had the Fillet and I tried both of those and holy cow those were awesome to. You have to get the house made tater tots! Stopped by for lunch. Wanted shrimp but they only had the dinner available and a $31 dollar lunch plate is too stiff for me. We had a cocktail before lunch and I had a vodka, ginger with muddled mint and lemon, it was okay, it was $8.75, which in my opinion is a bit high for the atmosphere, outside or in, and a very casual eating place. We had the special which was beef stroganoff and it was delightful!! Big chucks of meat, our server explained they make the stroganoff from their hand trimmed steaks! The noodles were small and cooked perfectly. The sauce was rich and creamy, would have this again and the price was reasonable. We also had nachos which were run of the mill and we had to ask for salsa! I think they might be pricing themselves out of some biz! I am willing to pay for great! This is in a small town (Edgar) and looks like a small town bar. One look at the menu and you know you're gonna have steak. The portion and the quality is phenominal! My wife and I decided to stop in on our way back from Cody for a snack as we have heard good things. We ordered several appetizers. We had the stuffed battered mushrooms and they were delicious. Then we had some of the huge prawns which were half breaded and half scampi style. The last thing we ordered were the makers mark BBQ ribs. All things were very good and we will be back for a proper meal. This is worth the drive from Billings but I would encourage you to make a reservation since we sat at the bar. Also I thought I overheard they have a new smoker so that's exciting for plenty of smokey goodness. My family and I were driving from Wyoming on our way back from seeing the solar eclipse, and we were looking for some steak. One of our party is gluten free. We hit Edgar right in the middle of peak service on a weekend. We had been in a car for the better part of a day. We were concerned. The gentleman who helped us got us a table outside which was perfect at that time of the evening. The service was not fast, but that wasn't high on our list of priorities just then. Favorite go to for excellent food and awesome staff. The steaks r locally raised melt in you mouth and the prawns to die for.

I really wanted to like it, but just didn't happen. First service slacked from the wait staff. We waited to be seated, not even HI BE RIGHT WITH YOU, we just stood and waited. Second, once we had out menus it took 15 minutes for the waitress to take our order, with 5 tables in the entire place. Third, we ordered the mushrooms that were over salted and mushy, not firm. The atmosphere is small town bar, which is to be expected but the prices were a little extreme. They could offer an 8oz steak at $18 instead of an 18oz for $26-34. And to top it odd the steak was less than to be desired, not tender and lacked flavor. Not worth the drive...Next time we will drive to 3 North. read more
